  • ►UPDATE! See my newer Kraken X62 install video here - • Installing the Kraken ...
    I have answered the most asked questions from this video in the new one.
    ► NZXT KRAKEN X62

    UK -- amzn.to/2jKOfAX
    DE -- amzn.to/2jJ1sKK
    ► NZXT S340 Elite
    US -- amzn.to/2MjyRFO
    UK -- amzn.to/2jKcYp9
    DE -- amzn.to/2A0oTTX
    My Kraken X62 was without the AM4 bracket, so I ordered the bracket from NZXT 24 days ago and still haven't received it yet. Its in transit. But I couldn't wait, I wanted to see how well the cooler performed and how it looked and sounded.
    So I installed it on my old I7 3770k in my new NZXT S340 Elite case that was originally meant for my Ryzen 7 1700 computer.
    It is surprisingly easy to install this beast, it runs super quiet and cools very well. The CPU is running OC@4.4ghz and max temperatures is around 69C and idle is around 30.
    Do you need thermal paste? No, the heatsink comes with pre applied thermal paste, so the first time you mount it you are just fine without. I just removed mine because I accidentally scratched some paste of it and wanted to be sure there was enough so I applied the Noctua NT-H1 instead.

    Answers to the two most common comments :)
    ►The lower fan is placed the wrong way!!
    - Absolutely, my bad, n00bish mistake! I was so concentrated on filming it that I didn't even notice myself until I edited it. In hindsight I should have added a note about it. But yes, it should be pushing air into the radiator like the other one is.
    (This is how they should be placed: th-cam.com/video/i4_H5TySxY0/w-d-xo.html )
    ►Doesn't it come with pre-applid thermal paste?
    - Yup, it does. I just removed it because I scratched it when doing the unboxing video.

      MrGarfi why you connect it to cpu opti? I think you should connect it to cpu fan

    • @MrGarfi
      @MrGarfi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mateusz Kalinowski I am not sure what you mean with cpu opti? But on newer motherboard there is sometimes a “pump fan” pin and a cpu pin, and it doesn’t really matter which you use, CAM will register is as the pump rpm no matter what pin is used.

    • @cocplayer4061

      the pump cable is supposed to go to CPU_FAN motherboard header not CPU_OPT. I think both work but they say CPU_FAN is the right one :D

      MrGarfi I just finished installing it!! Looking forward to booting it up. Sadly at first I installed the pump up side down instead of having it with the two water cables on the right side. I rotated it, do you think it's a problem if I did not re-apply thermal compound?

    • @MrGarfi
      @MrGarfi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that pre-applied thermal paste is spread rather thin, so it might make small gaps between the IHS and the copper plate when you rotate it like that - but fire it up and watch the temperatures, if its too high then you know it requires some new paste (I would probably reapply some new in any case).

    • @MrGarfi
      @MrGarfi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paper Cut2U Gaming, is it fixed yet? I would look at the usb cable connected to the pump - if its not working properly the fans will run amok and the CAM software will not read it correctly. Also, make sure that on the cable with the 4 fan connectors you use the first one with 4 pins (pwm).

    • @MrGarfi

    • @MrGarfi
      @MrGarfi  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Random Alien - good question, but actually the only reason why it is using the cpu header is because in this video the motherboard is so old it doesn't have a dedicated pump header - if your motherboard has a pump header then use that.

    • @MrGarfi

      +Matthew Sussens it only uses a single fan connector for the pump, all the radiator fans are connected to a splitter and then the splitter cable is connected to the pump.

      @MrGarfi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rekkless EU, do you mean the cable I insert at 2:33? That's a mini USB to a internal USB 2.0 header. You can use a normal mini-usb to usb cable but you will have to use one of the external ports of your case instead then, unless you have an internal usb hub of sorts.

    • @MrGarfi
      @MrGarfi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Games2dye4 if nothing spins up at all then my best guess would be that the wide flat cable that is connected to the pump unit isn't connected properly, I would disconnect it and insert it again. If that still doesn't work then try the NZXT support, the cable may be defect.

    I noticed you can’t do a push-pull config like this. Is your case still pressure-positive with the radiator in the way? I’m worried the radiator block will reducing inflow.
    (Is your config accumulating dust for eg.?)

    • @MrGarfi
      @MrGarfi  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Teresa Le, do note that the fans are placed wrong in the video, they should both be pushing air into the case. So id both 140mm fans are pushing air into the case and you don’t crank the two 120mm exhaust fans up too much then you should be good.
      Dust was not an issue for me in the 6 month I had the case (sold it).

      Hi C.M. the usb is for controlling the lights on the Kraken X62 and the fans. Without it connected the LED's will not light up and the fans will run 100% speed. So you don't need an rgb header on your motherboard for this AIO - actually in this video I am installing it on a motherboard from 2011 way before RGB headers was a thing :) But you will need a USB 2.0 header.

    • @MrGarfi
      @MrGarfi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory yes, you would then connect that to the AIO's fancontroller - however they may not be the best ones for static pressure, but you could try it and compare it to the ones that comes with the AIO.

    I can't figure out where u installed the 3 pin wire that comes from the pump? Everything is a 4 pin on top of my MB. It kind of looks like u skipped a pin to get the 3 pin grounded?

    • @MrGarfi
      @MrGarfi  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the motherboard usually has 4 pins connectors, but also has a little notch that kind of dictates how the fan connector can be mounted - the 3 pin connector on the pump also has notches that then matches with the one on the motherboard, so you can't really install the wrong way unless you really force it and bend something. 3 vs 4 pins is a matter of PWM support, but you can always fit a 3 pin on a 4 pin connection on the motherboard, then the PWM just isn't active.
