There was probably a lot of coding and edge cases they had to account for. It was brand new tech worth it for a new champion, because manually editing the textures on every single shader for each vfx is a big ask.

Overwhelm definitely feels like an adc ability rather than a mage. I'm impressed by how they didn't add 500 dashes to her though. It's just added flat damage on attack, like Orianna, but this time, it "heals back" if you don't actually kill before the stacks fall off. Great for an ADC to ensure they get the killing blow (on both minions and champions), because it doesn't actually put them in kill range for other minions. For a mage... I guess they are balancing all the ratios around the fact that each spell also fires off 3 of these special auto attacks. Going to be a KS'ing machine. I'm playing her support.

I guess you could say that there are a lot of noxus cards with overwhelm, but that's where the similarities end
It's really not. The reflected ability does significantly less damage than the original. Even with CDR, you also will only be able to use once per fight. It's a good, and kit defining ability. But it is by no means overpowered in any way.
Seem kinda weird not to explore her "empath" magic more and make her a support instead. Especially when that's how her abilities have been displayed in the show. (Yes I know the show and game are not the same)
Honestly, I think they didnt want her to be another Seraphine/Karma situation. A champ who has 1 supportive ability who just becomes a support despite being balanced around mid lane initially. That being said, I'd have prefer she be a full on support than a full mage just for coherency between her arcane iteration. But I'm a mid main so im happy either way.

The design and effects are really cool, she deffinetly looks like a powerful Noxian, though its kinda interesting that her gameplay looks like a Lux/Karma/Seraphine/Karthus fusion yet doesnt have any of their "help your allies" abilities, very unexpected 😅 That mirror makes her so unique though, a bit broken but... I like it 🙊

for anyone saying her passif is broken remember than unlike other execution, shields counter mel since it's calculated in the threshold and not ignored like pyke for example. Her w is also strong but high cd the reflect dmg is not high until late game and lot of ap. Also don't tell me we max w seconds in mid lane it's not possible her E dmg has very good scaling as well as the root so if you want to do damage you'll need to max it second (her q doesn't seem to do a lot of damage unless you stay in there for the all duration). I would'nt say she is weak nor broken but she is definetely balancable my nerfind some of her numbers in the future if necessary.

Lot of her power budget were spent on her w and passive. Her Q and E has reduced damage to makes her waveclear wearker for mage. The fact that she only has W as a mobility (movespeed) also really balance her out. The passive is an execute, but she had to actually engage the target continuouly to apply it (different from Panth Q for example. he only needs to press Q on low health enemy). I think her intended gameplay pattern is that of a counterattacker. She can't play as a control mage that well because her AoE on Q too small and her E only apply 1 stack of her passive. If she ulted those marked enemy by then, she won't deal a lot of damage. he needs to stack her passive to deal meaningful damage. She can't really be a battle mage that want to stack those passive in a long fight either. She lacks tankiness, mobility, and sustain. If however, she use her Q, E, and reflect a key ability, that will make her burst higher since her passive will get more stacks and the recflected ability will deal majority original damage (70% max). The more fed the champion she reflect, the more effective she is. TLDR: She is a counterattacker. She needs to reflect a right ability to deal the most damage.

Mel's gonna build RoA, Cosmic Drive, Ionian boots (which, if evolved with the season mechanic give a shit ton of ms) + flex items with CDR and simply run around with no CD on her skills, being pretty much untouchable lategame.
I can already foresee majority of Mel players having their Mel abused and beaten down to never wake up, only for her to shift into APC position, and eventually coming back to Mid when people forgot about the initial hype.

Looks like the W has a 35 second cooldown? Honestly not too bad. Although with some CDR at max rank it will be more like 12-14 seconds, that's still pretty long when you think about it, especially with how close she needs to get to deal damage.
The skill, when maxed, is 20 seconds cd. Add 60% CDR, which is perfectly achievable for a battle mage, and you are looking at an 8 second uno return card on every projectile in the game. This is Karma but on steroids.

Those kind of stats are absurdly difficult to get unless you just ignore any other stats a champion might want, like shadowflame. I could see her getting around 80 haste on the average build maybe with something like riftmaker, bloodletter, possibly nashors, but they're definitely gonna be going for pen boots and Dcap/void staff. Of course, this is assuming max CDR in runes. I just don't see it happening, at least in any normal build.

Looks like the W has a 35 second cooldown? Honestly not too bad. Although with some CDR at max rank it will be more like 12-14 seconds, that's still pretty long when you think about it, especially with how close she needs to get to deal damage.
The skill, when maxed, is 20 seconds cd. Add 60% CDR, which is perfectly achievable for a battle mage, and you are looking at an 8 second uno return card on every projectile in the game. This is Karma but on steroids.
@@petrikillos I genuinely can't remember the last time I saw ANY champion beside Riven get even 50% CDR, nevermind 60%.
Those kind of stats are absurdly difficult to get unless you just ignore any other stats a champion might want, like shadowflame. I could see her getting around 80 haste on the average build maybe with something like riftmaker, bloodletter, possibly nashors, but they're definitely gonna be going for pen boots and Dcap/void staff. Of course, this is assuming max CDR in runes.
I just don't see it happening, at least in any normal build.

They are not point & click so they cannot return to the caster, and they are not directed, which means they can't return back to where they came from.
