I went to see Williams in concert with Spielberg back in Arizona 10 years ago and it was pretty incredible. I like how they've continued to do things like this for a long time now. Tickets weren't cheap! lol

This had to be absolutely soul-stirring to witness. Many thanks for the sure and steady hand so we could as well. There is a Mount Rushmore of the great film composers in the latter half of the 20th Century and while John sits atop the that mountain with Goldsmith, Zimmer, Horner, Shore and Elfman, you realize that this and his body of work BUILT the damn mountain itself.

Seriously? You actually liked that never-ending, boring dreck of a theme? I was open-minded when he first played it in public last September, but I hated it then and time has done it no favours. You are correct about one thing. Marion's Theme was indeed the mountain to climb and the 90-year-old man tripped on the first few steps. I really hoped he could end his legacy on a high note, maybe by looking back at sketchbooks from forty-fifty years back and discovering an exciting melodic fragment to explore. Not such Luck. (sigh)

No one pulls at the heart strings quite like John Williams. Trying not to to lock this film into any template of nostalgia and accept it for what it is - a long goodbye to one of the world’s most famous icons. I have feeling I will love it.

Helena’s theme is essentially a variation combination of Anakin’s theme (TPM) and sprinklings of Yoda’s theme (TESB). And that’s ok, because it’s nice to hear those ideas utilized again in a new way

This was a a planned speech for a rehearsed event and she's known everyone on that stage (except for Mangold, obviously) for decades, you're projecting this onto her and a bunch of people you've never even met.
don't hate me haters - lol - i love John Williams, but I am also very tough critic - okay so John steps up to the podium and the music begins - but all my ears can hear is a not-as-good imitation of Leonard Bernstein's famous "Overture to Candide" - so I am not so thrilled - then John talks a bit and then conducts the romantic soft stuff, which I find very BEAUTIFUL - so I am happy - and the melody has a bit of sophistication to it - an 'expensive' sounding tune as Paul McCartney might say- one can even hear some shades of the ET score in there, which is funny in a way because now I am imagining that ET is having a romantic candlelight dinner with the future Mrs. ET - and then for the end we get our tried and true old Indy music so it's all good
Spirits, they actually convinced Harrison Ford to show up?! That doesn't happen much. It's a bit of a shame that John Williams' score may be the best thing about the movie....

Though I haven't seen yet the fifth Indiana Jones because of it will arrive on 30 June on theater, I've listened this performance about the Helen's theme and it has been perfect so very soft; but as usual john William is great at the end when he's gaven his honor by the main different themes of Indiana Jones.
