- first time riding an electric motorcycle! This is the very first time I have ever ridden an electric motorcycle! As of the time this video was recorded, Harley had yet to announce their business plans for the sub brand of the Livewire. I'm very excited to see how this motorcycle progresses into the future! #ChannelPartner

It’s crazy because I was using limewire 20 years ago.
lol
that got a real laugh outta me lol
Lol I see what you did there.
I rode one is Salt Lake City. Insane! The power/torque is unexplainable. I got off that with a huge smile on my face and I’m 58 and ride a 2010 Ultra Limited. Loved it.
I actually REALLY like the Liverwire. It's price is ridiculous though, and the lack of charging stations in my area(small town Oregon) prohibits any serious investment into electric vehicles right now. Which is fine since I'm still having way too much fun and am madly in love with my Raider.
Yes! I commented a while ago that I went and test rode one and you needed to check one out! I thought it was a blast to ride. So fast too! Glad you got to ride it!
I test rode a Livewire a month ago and absolutely LOVED it. I'm not a sport bike rider, but put that electric powertrain in a Road Glide and I'd strongly consider buying one!
@@DavidSmith-fw6uj Honestly if a good EV touring bike came out with really good range, AND the charging network was in place to support it, yeah I'd straight up trade the Wing in!
I want to ride one so bad, demo truck was just in western WI. No Livewire, I was super bummed.
Very impressive feature H-D built into this bike, to blur out the speedo when traveling over the limit ...........
That's her editing buddy. TH-cam would flag it for demonization probably
Allegedly*
@@lookatmeeee I'm going to file your comment in the bottom drawer, next to the people that thought large dogs were carrying small children across the southern border in their mouths.
@@lookatmeeee 🤦♂️it’s called sarcasm buddy...
LMAO 😎👍
Sensory reallocation. The bike gets quieter, the rider laughs louder! Looks like a blast
Your thoughts are spot on, were not ready for this.....trouble is only demand will drive the companies to fit infrastructure...
That's a really nice bike.
I think it is the fastest bike I have ever rode. It accelerated off the line very very fast. Grip it, rip it, and hang on!
I want to try one on a cruiser platform, leaning over a tank is just not for me. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride!
I really hope to see an electric cruiser soon!
@@lolaleslie66 with LiveWire becoming its own brand we might just see it
I'm a wee bit jealous. The only taste I got of the Livewire was in a booth, and it was mounted on a display that allowed the rear wheel to spin. You could crank the throttle and that's about it.
It was great seeing you there! I’m the one who asked if it was your first time riding a livewire. They truly are really an odd bike.
Antonio - you taught me something today: When i want to say shit, I'll use the word odd...
All the torque, none of the noise. Has to be different for sure
Polar opposite 😄
Things I like about this bike:
1: it's fast
2: paintjob
Things I dislike about this bike:
1: price
2: general design (i.e. blinkers, headlight, seat)
3: the fact that it has no gears
4: the whining sound / lack of engine sound
5: it is only really suitable for one single kind of riding (city centre), which is the one kind of riding I never do
6: having to wait for the bike to charge instead of gas&go (if you forgot to charge it at home, or try to take it for a longer ride than to work and back)
7: sportbike ergonomics without the sportbike looks
8: did I mention price?
Livewire is awesome 🧡
Check out the places where lithium mines are how much it destroys the ground compared to oil and natural gas wells.
Your comments reflect my opinions of the new electric snowmobiles, the sounds that are missing are part of the overall experience.
Rode one a cpl months ago. Very quiet, quicker than I thought it would be. Light, only con is people won’t hear you coming up alongside cuz it’s too quiet.
That's what the horn was put on there for....
Blockhead giggled like a schoolgirl more than you did when he took a livewire for a ride🤣😂
You know we know you're being naughty when you blur out the speedo.
I wonder if it reached triple digits??!
Jess your description was real time while on the bike. The cost is going to be blown out of the water when other brands come out with them. It will be interesting if they put the electric option in some of their bigger bikes.
Our office has charging stations in teh deck and one front lot for electric vehicles. I would have one to commute and run around town on. But I'd miss shifting gears and engine noise.
What is next for you to test ride the Pan American? Love the idea of an electric motorcycle , yet like the Electric car in my country Australia , not really worth it unless you are living in the suburbs in a major city and are commuting to work, because not that many public chargers which means you are going to be using household power to charge.
Great video. Keep up the good content.
"and when you wanna slow down you just sit up and use yourself as a sail" Exactly! That's why you see moto gp riders sit up before a turn, they're braking.
The live wire is a really cool bike. That’s so awesome you got to ride one!!!
Glad you liked it. And you didn’t giggle too much.
Now you should review the Zero sr/f
Someone will figure out a way to harness the Harley sound and sync it with the speed you are riding. If they're not working on it already. Nice video Jess.
They do this with some cars.
I wouldn’t be able to get used to how quiet they are! Totally hear you about the infrastructure and the US not being ready.
Reminds me of my Aztec Orange 1200 Sportster.
Jim Kirk's bike. If JJ Abrams were filming _Star_ _Trek_ today, Chris Pine could do those scenes live.
Interesting comments about the Livewire there...good job and thank you Jess!!
Loved the Yammie style blur of the dash at high speeds 😂 Personally I love these bikes. Really wish Harley would do more street fighter sport bikes. *cough* *cough* Bronx
I have to test ride one, But you said a lot of things that I would agree with, I need noise, vibration, and style. Plus we don't have a lot of charging stations. I am old school biker my next bike will be a 2021 or 2022 Road King!
I think something happened to the Speedo….it seemed to get blurry for some reason….😂
I think it's a gopro thing, it seems to happen to a lot of moto vloggers. 😉😁
🤣😂 right!?!?!😂🤣
You need to try an MT10! Yeah!
Again excellent dialogue on this motorcycle. Almost the same as my son's Tesla Performance auto. I'd have to give it the same explanations. Power "like wow man". Have a great day.
Sweet!
Prefect thing to go with my TriGlide and my 883 Iron. I want.
I want to test ride the livewire but my local (syracuse NY) dealership told me the Motor Co. Asked the dealership to pay somewhere are 60-80k dollars to install a charging network at their dealership and they didn't want to so therefore they won't be getting any EVs delivered
Caliente HD is San Antonio TX has a new black one for sale @ $23,999.
I saw the first one of these last weekend and I was surprised how small this bike was. Really cool bike, but just can't justify the price. Fist thing I did when I threw my leg over the seat was reach for the clutch.
Very cool smart bike. Fast acceleration isn’t it? Ya miss that V&H RUMBLE don’t ya. 😊
do they make some slipons exhaust for it to make it sound like a motorcycle??
So what's the range on a full charge?
It could be all “giggles” and we’d still watch ya!
Speeds up, Blurs out speedometer* LOL
I think the Livewire is a motorcycle which you have to ride yourself to experience it! :)
No thanx.
Been riding for nearly 3 decades, and I understand Harley trying to not miss a market niche. This is a cool technology demonstrator for Harley as well, but I'll never love taking all the Harley-ness out of a Harley. I will always need the sound and vibration, exhaust smell, etc.
Everyone I've seen do a test ride of the Livewire has giggled like girls over the acceleration. Look Flip na was given one to hold onto for a little bit and the whole shade tree Army was giggling like girls when they borrowed it. Weem's had a really good reaction
I have yet to test ride the Live Wire. The only thing that would stop me from buying one is the price. I would consider Zero motorcycles before this.
this was cool. I was thinking about checking out a Zero bike. I think I would miss shifting. Did you miss shifting ?
Electric motorcycles are great but still need improvement, a swappable battery feature would be good, like a gas stop but just leave your battery there and get a new one instead of gas. It would have to be standardised across all manufacturers too and not proprietary technologies so you wouldn’t have to get a specific model version
I enjoyed hearing your first impressions since I know you ride Harleys and others. I figured it would be fast, but the price is too high for what you get, and you definitely have to be in a charging station rich environment and only take short rides.
Cheyleesy sure loved that one
AND FLIP
Hehe would love to try one myself one day
See if they have a VRod would love to see you on one of them.
I like your gloves. Where can I get some.
Ignition? What ignited? No gas 😂
Hi Jess, I'm probably as excited as you at this moment, seeing the future of motorcycles, although it's going to be a very strange transition. The adrenalin rush from a screaming exhaust!, can be replaced by the acceleration, the massive torque can produce, and we can begin to enjoy the sound of silence! I would love to see a full review with specs. The first time to see a live wire, riding a live wire, quite a memorable moment!
Cool video but out of topic. How do you make your audio so clear and popping free?
Love the sound can’t wait to try one..👍🏻🇦🇺
You are correct. The bike is suitable for urban living, around town, short trip or so. NOT for riders who wants to ride to the mountains or to the next town for a day trip. Or join a premium towing membership.
I live in even more rural than you Jess, so it definitely wouldn't work for me!! and when I go to Alaska... no way! Thanks for the review!
Nice 👍🏻
if you have Apple TV . watch Ewan McGregor's show the "Long Way Up". they rode modified prototypes of those electric Harley's.
WoW! Amazing you are a great driver! Anyways Keep Safe Always and have a good time...
That was cool 😎
Cool! Dont think I would ever own one though. I also live in a RUAL area. I like the deer to hear me coming. How many miles on a charge? Also heard you mention quicker battery draw on highways. Are you going to test ride the new Harley adventure bike?
Another great video
That thing is so wicked fast I'm its own way
Shocking !!
When you cover up bad language you should do it with dog barks🤩🤩😅
Greetings from Oregon sis Glad you got to test the bike it's not for everyone it has place in city streets its not my thing the down side is way too much money 😀be safe 👍
keep up the great work! can you ride a triumph trident and post a video? would love your opinion!!!
Livewire is amazing.
So, how do you like that Torque!?
I have an electric. Not a live wire but just as fast! Omg I was so intimidated until I figured out how to make a custom mode and took the torque down!! Now it’s got the torque of a scooter. Lol
Your moving but no sound
I like the live wire sound though when you speed up!
Like one of them trains
I'm definitely looking forward to a dealership getting the Indian chief dark horse
Plus if sanders still has it I'm going to probably get a z900
The range is my biggest issue with it. My best friend has sport bikes that compare to the live wire in performance and we regularly ride 200 miles one way
Very cool 😎
Awesome video Jess I would like to some day take one for a spin my loved the video keep up the awesome content and great work thx.
TRON light cycle
The price is very much a problem. This bike can work for Rual areas like Ohio, but.....your trip better be taking you back to home or work (someplace your be for hours) with at least a 110V outlet. Big city's have the charge network, and thanks to Tesla there are more charge stations then you realize. Now I've been waiting for you to talk about the live-wire. I've been looking at Electric bikes and really want one. The two biggest players at the moment are Zero and Energica. HD did good with getting in with electric as one of the Big motorcycle mfr's. Now I really hope that they do a cruiser version with DC fast charging. You ever need someone to review a HD E-bike for an extended bit just let me know. I will happily volunteer.
What city and state you in?
Thanks😊😄
I don't know where she's now, otherwise she's in Ohio.
@@darkiee69 I don't like her channel but it keeps popping up
@@richardhowe5583 You don't have to watch it even if it is recommended to you by TH-cam, you do know that right?
@@richardhowe5583 Or you can click on the three little dot's and tell TH-cam that you're not interested.
@@darkiee69 I did.. Thanks 😊
A max. range of about 80 miles per charge makes it a "HELL, NO!" in my book. That's not even a decent day's riding...
146 miles per charge ... 70 on the highway
Electric motorcycle is a suicide mission . I will never ever own one .
Suicide mission? Please explain that. You do know that the ICE is slowly being fazed out right?
The Livewire is the future of motorcycles.
@@mfsb8473 plz explain how electric is the future ? Maybe u should Google how many power plants burn trees in the U.S. to create energy ( aka biomass plants ) ...if everyone in the U.S. drove electric cars there would be no electricity left for ur vehicle or ur house .
Yes nice bike and you are right it’s to early for it . But that the future of vehicles all electric .
In Central and South America it’s popular for muggers and hitmen to ride motorcycles on pairs where they can ride up quickly on their targets and getaway. So people have started to become alert to the sound of a loud motorcycle engine. I shudder thinking about them riding e-bikes where there will be no warning and no sound to track.
Cool bike, ill havevti take one gir a spin
The bike would be ideal for my commute to work but the price is prohibitive .It is not society that is not ready it is the product is not right for the market it is aimed at the bike is a city commuter and there are so many bikes that will do the job as well for less. I am hoping that it is a sign of things to come and costs come down rather than Harley killing it off quietly in a few years time . The bike is fun to ride it just costs too much .
I’m so glad that Harley came out with it. However they have rebranded it with another company. Is that a mistake? We will see. I’d love to have one but the price would need to come down.
I live in northern Michigan no problem getting fast chargers for my Livewire
If you don't mind riding 100 miles per day and charging it for 10 hours to get a full charge.
@@thatsmrharley2u2 30 minutes for a fast charger
@@bccycle1 Not what I was told by the dealer.
@@thatsmrharley2u2 that’s how mine works with the fast charge the 110 home charger takes 7 to 8 hours
Love the concept. Hate the look. Call me when the make a Road Glide electric with enough range and power to be useful.
Yeah it's very sport bike looking. Apart from the cramped riding style, just not enough range for where I live either. Also as you said way too expensive compared to big cruisers / tourers. Maybe in 10 yrs might be enough quick charge stations around to use it.
So we need a Tesla coil added to it?
Best motorcycle.
.... I just bought my first gas powered bike, and now this? xD
The noise, I don't think, will be that much of an issue if/when more folks are converted over to electric cars.
What is your height? because I am only 5'4 and I do not know if I would be able to drive it because I am short
Btw you road the only electric harley ever made and will ever be made. Livewire is now its own brand with a new model in sight for early next season
