  • This is the first episode of our new series. Ted joins Shari and myself in this first episode to contemplate together the depths of Dante's masterwork. The method we have agreed to pursue in this is to follow the example of Tomberg's approach to the Arcana of the Tarot, that is to treat each Canto as a Meditation, as a Spiritual Exercise. We invite you to follow us along our journey.

I just learned today that dogs are one of the few animals that men didn’t domesticate, but they domesticated themselves.
    Dogs are phenomenal creatures.

If I could do more shameless self promotion. I wrote a song on our new cd called dogs of Mumbai. The Chris feels related to the greyhound chasing the wolf,
“Where is god for the dogs of destiny?
For they always saw the best in me
As they howled that devil out.”

Dante follows Vergil, Nate and Ted follow Dante, Shari follows Nate and Ted, I follow Shari. 😁

Excellent! I'm in a slow re-reading this now. Havn't read it since forever. Just finished Inferno and working into Purgatorio. Using Great Courses (William Cook and Ronald Herzman), Yale courses Giuseppe Mazzotta (Very good). I also like Tom LA Books youtube channel (also good). Hope I can catch this live or right after (traveling and probably out of touch for 3 weeks or so). Seems like you'll probable move slowly as well so I'll catch your episodes when I get back. Thanks!

If you haven't read the Hollanders' translation, I'd recommend it. The first translation I read was Ciardi, but I think I prefer the Hollanders' translation, I felt like it made the images Dante lays out much easier to grasp.

Just a note, that this episode didn't make it onto the Grail Country podcast, at least on Podbean.

Excited for this. Not to take away from this one, but any chance the Aspects of Truth convo will ever make its debut? Was really looking forward to that one as well

Sorry this has nothing to do with the video, but I was wondering if you knew of any good verse translations of Gottfried von Strassburg and Beroul? The editions put out by penguin are prose translations, but I'd prefer verse translations.
