I've got 90,000km on my 2018 Ranger Raptor and I've changed the filter three times myself... there's never been a drama with those clips but they ARE plastic so you gotta be careful not to break them and to ensure they're installed right...
On the 3.2 vs 2.0 debate I concur with you completely!!!...
I had two 3.2 (BT50 and PX2 Ranger) before the 2.0 and did around 180,000km in both vehicles... 90k into the ownership of the 2.0 bi-turbo and I would never take the clunky old 5 cylinder over this engine.... they're so far superior in every way!!!

I had a 2019 wildtrak 2L with the added weight of a bull bar side steps bigger tyres and lift I felt the auto didn’t like it and started to slip, ended up selling up and buying a 3.2 20.75 and tuned it and love it abit more of a truck real with the 3.2 but feels a lot stronger and tows a lot better

    Hi from Germany
Our 2.0 Biturbo is at 60 000 KM.
    Problems:
    Engine - 0
Gearbox - 1 (was delivered with a gearbox which needed do be changed due to its oil pumps)
Hoses - adblue hose wasn’t attached properly, so when we came home after we picked up the UTE at the dealership, adblue was spread all over the place.
Seat - driver seat was done after a few moments and got replaced
Besides all that I still love that little truck!!!

Doesn’t really explain why a recall is necessary to be honest. If it’s an issue with ‘how’ the clips are installed, that’s not necessarily a design issue. You definitely need to be aware of it and ask the question at time of delivery or servicing.

Great vid - appreciate the warning. Personally I would have chosen the 3.2L 5 cylinder with a manual gearbox ...even before I saw your video.
There is a side issue in this segment - why are so many people buying 2 tonne 4WD utes to do school pick-ups, photo shoots, shopping, light touring, delivering flowers & pastries etc...?
All of these needs can be met with a far more appropriate station wagon or SUV.
Utes are/were supposed to be for moving gravel, skull-dragging old trailers full of shit around, running businesses that supply stuff, smashing rough off-road tracks, construction, earthworks, mining, demolition, dirt bikes, jet skis, camping....y'know...gettin' stuff done. A high-boost 2 litre engine, in this vehicle, speaks much about how distorted the marketing has become and how shallow the punters are. $70k for a brand new vehicle with drum brakes is disgraceful. Family safety my arse.
Regardless, Ford should own the fuel system issues.

Utes are utility. Many men want a car that can do everything, given how much they cost, why the hell not. The real issue is why they ONLY come in diesel. They have more use than to appease a tradie.

Good to see that these issues are being addressed privately , although it seems Ford is lacking in being honest and truthful about issues with there 2.0L Bi turbo models. Having sold a 2018 yr 3.2L and gone into a 2.0L BiTurbo Amarok I only hope these issues are or have been rectified. I have to say I like the 2.0L over the 3.2L or though initially I was skeptical whether the 2.0L would tow as well as the 3.2L - It does so really well. Again thanks for sharing your knowledge on certain faults. Cheers

I have a 2 liter bi turbo in an Everest. It weak overall and seems to stumble frequently. Now it’s hard to feel it as it such an anemic little engine, but after acclimating to the vehicle I can feel it at lower rpm and light to moderate acceleration. Now I over service this little over worked little drivetrain in fear of the complicated 10R80 transmission that is behind the 2 litter. I change all the fluids and filters once a year and change the Engine Oil, filter and air filter every 4K km.
When I bring up the stumbling the dealer has no clue as there is no codes thrown. But this is not a surprise as the mechanics at the dealer didn’t even know what a transfer case is when I ask to have it serviced. I had to point it out to the “mechanics”. Full time four wheel is more maintenance. (Different than the ranger)
Truthfully and on the surface, it has been almost trouble free. But I think the power train would be better suited to a focus rather than an Everest.
The following cruise control is not very smart and your passenger will quick assume you are a crappy driver when using it.
Whe bought when we made our second child, and it had the most room for the money and was a little safer. We are adding a model y next month so will see much less duty in the near future.

I've got 3.2 engine and I recommend to use the throttle controller. Its a night and day compared to stock. The factory settings are very sluggish and potentially dangerous when coming out of a junction.
However, better be careful during wet conditions. It spins the wheels easily. Never regret choosing the 5 cyl, wont be anything like this in the future.

The 2.0 Twin turbo is more responsive & quieter, but at the end of the day it’s your personal option on what you prefer. Most of all above everything the Ford Ranger is just an all round great Aussie design & beautiful vehicle to have for on & off road . But that’s just my opinion . Enjoy the ride

Well you have another one so obviously aren't too annoyed. Now to set it straight if there are a number of the same issues happening and I do mean very few of the same then the government body rules on if it is a safety issue and only then do any car manufacturer need to issue a recall. The car manufacturer can do a voluntary recall but in this case I would suggest they would do a check on a service interval.
I do not know what your knowledge of fuels are but diesel is not easily set alight in like petrol, so much so there is not even a need to earth diesel storage tanks the only issue for the tow truck driver was a possible EPA report.

I am grateful for this bloke's advice and warning, but the way he said he "got the kids out straight away" is puzzling. Does he not know that diesel isn't even close to being as inflammable as petrol? There might be a skid hazard but I mean, if there was some absorbent material in the engine compartment (there isn't) there might be a vague chance of a slow-burning fire, but really? Dangerous? However, I fully accept that Oz has some very remote and lonely areas where being stranded could be a serious danger out back, but it just sounds to me like it needs checking now and again. Nevertheless, as a person who is taking delivery of one of these in a couple of months' time, I'm very grateful for the heads-up.

    • @aeromech8563

Yep first thing i said Diesel ??? Flammable??? You can and I have to prove it throw a lot match in a 10 l bucket of the stuff it don't go boom the match just goes out. Even Jet A1 aviation fuel is the same petrol of A.c.Gas current matter so don't panic guys too many action films lol cars don't just blow up and even a petrol tank won't launch a car in the air just a bang and it's done. Totally agree the ford company should own the issue and just sort it out.
