No that's exactly why I tried to watch it as a kid despite being like probably 8. Old enough to think I was a little too old to still watch it. I wasn't 4 anymore loved Blues Clues everything I got that year for Christmas. I was hoping for it to be something like the vibes of Kipper, or even Oswald, or Madeline. I was expecting a more chill show. based off of how pleasing it looked.

And it kept ringing in my head until I finally found where it came from, Blues Room, a few months ago. He was so perfectly silly, I love you dad. Edit: I’m 19 now, for context. :)
SAMEEEE I used to watch it at my grandma’s all the time growing up. I loved Blue’s Clues so much that I didn’t completely grow out of it until I was 8. A lot of that is due to Steve being such a damn good host: engaging, lively, outgoing, funny. Like, he knew how to talk to little kids without talking down to them. (Which isn’t as easy as it sounds)
I had the honor of meeting Steve’s Actor last year at my local comic con. He is truly the sweetest person I’ve ever met, he even took time to make a video with a person who was mentally and physically handicapped and NO ONE in that line minded to wait even though a lot of us had been waiting for 40 minutes or more. It was so nice.
Also thank you for pointing out that Gen Z shares a lot of experiences with Millennials/90s kids. I was born in 2001 and I didn’t even hold a smartphone in my hands for the first time until I went to middle school in the early 2010s. Heck, I grew up with a whole collection of VHS tapes. 😂

As a boomer, i was around for the original host in the 90s. The series came out at a great and innocent time for children shows. Things were original and had intent of a message. Blues clues is multi-generational. Love what youre doing here! ❤
As someone who grew up in a period of time where you were frowned upon for liking Blue's Room, it makes me so happy to see this video. Blue's Room is such a good show and the way they handled the whole idea of Blue being able to talk was genius. I wish we had more behind the scenes info regarding this show cause I find it to be such a fascinating piece in Blue's Clues' history. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend checking out some of the shorts they made, not the ones on the Blue's Clues TV show, the ones made for the Nick Jr block and Noggin. You can find them on a few DVDs, I think most of which have been uploaded to the Internet Archive. Thank you so much for what you do, and keep up the great work. It's honestly really cool seeing how far you have come. 💙
When I was 3-4ish I had a bunch of Max and Ruby and Backyardigans DVD'S I'll watch and I would rarely have a working remote for the DVD player (mostly I either lost it or had no batteries for it) and because of that I actually memorized the ads before the select screen and that's how I was able to know what DVD I was watching and I remember both seeing both of those Blues Room ads so that was already nostalgia for me
Joe(Donovan Patton) later went on to voice Bot on Team Umizoomi, came back for the reboot Blue's Clues and You, and also is CatRat on Gabby's Dollhouse (which is made by the creators of Blue's Clues and has been or even more popular than that show).
As for Blue's Room - the problem was that Dora The Explorer was becoming Nick Jr's cash cow by the time Blue's Room debuted - pretty much ruining any chance of success - the same problem that is hurting Blues Clues & You, because of those certain pups from Canada that have basically taken over the Nick Jr. lineup.
Blue's Room was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. To me, see Blue talk was something I'd really loved to see, and my wish came true, and the puppets looked really well made as well!! 💙💙
So I'm a little older (Born in 1991) and I remember the DAY Blue's Clues started airing. It was my favorite show. My mom had my half-brother in 2004, so I ended up being immersed in preschool/toddler media again whether I liked it or not and finding that Blue's Clues was STILL ON when my brother was born and sharing the experience with him even though I was a teenager at that point really says a lot about what Blue, Steve, and the gang did for generations of kids.
Oh dude, the NOSTALGIA BOMB that I felt when you played that ad..... I always saw that exact one on an old dvd my sibling and I watched as a kid. I had been so sad that Steve left (admittedly finding out ages after watching reruns lol) that five year old me essentially boycotted the show without knowing what a boycott even was- but that ad on a different dvd gave me hope in the show again and I was able to keep watching those older episodes, one day wanting to learn about this newer series- I never thought that today would be the day I healed that part of my inner child. Thank you for this knowledge!!!!!!!
this show was before my time (i was born in 2009) but i still had it on dvd and i would watch it like every day when i was little. i vaguely remember my favorite episode being that jungle one idk how to describe it it's been like 10+ years since i even thought of it.
Oh my gosh, this was such a nice nostalgia trip for me. I remember growing up, I had 2 VHS tapes of Blues Clues that I'd rewatch (Blue's Birthday episode, and an episode where Blue and Steve go on a treasure hunt). I think when Blues Room aired, I thought it wasn't my thing because I felt that her working with a human host was missing in Blues Room. Thank you for the video.
To add to your point about the holiday special, I'm also Gen Z and a bit older than you are and I remember a Blue's Clues holiday video tape where either Steve or Joe took Blue around the neighbourhood and visited Blue's friends celebrating different holidays like Kwanza or Chanukah, and Christmas too obviously, so these creators have always made it a point to highlight different holidays and I think that's delightful 😊 Side note, if you pay attention there's a lot of signing in the episodes of the regular seasons too I remember Steve even having a def friend at one point
Speaking of blues big city adventure fun fact I was in New York going to college well they were filming that and saw a tone of signs for it, the sidewalk decked out in blues big city adventure logo stuff and even a couple roads blocked off for filming. Watching that movie isn’t just a nostalgic trip for me but also a “Oh MY GOSH! I KNOW THAT LOCATION! I’VE BEEN THERE!” Moment. Not that anyone asked I just wanted to share that.
I have so many fond memories of this show and owned the videos and watched them over and over. This video made realize I remember so much of these episodes than I expected!
OMG i remember watching the OG blue's clues growing up and blue's room had an insane hold on me for some time! i used to have a bunch of dvds and even dragged some of my family members to watch the baby brother special for a movie night probably multiple times lol. i think i actually saw a dvd at a dollar general once recent-ish but can't recall. great video! 💝
32:55 I also had an animal fixation when I was little, but for me it was penguins. I used to have a whole collection of penguin plushies and I had March of the Penguins on VHS. The first Happy Feet movie was released when I was 5, and a family friend bought me a stuffed Mumble toy, which I still have to this day.
This video unlocked memories for real. I never forgot about this show, I was actually thinking about it not that long ago. But there were so many things I had very faint memories of (like Polka Dot's little doors, the general set design, Boogie Woogie) and I couldn’t figure out what they were from to the point I thought I had just imagined them and remembered the imagination. I especially remember the ads you showed in this video for the show from some VHS tapes I had as a kid (an older Gen Z kid lol since you mentioned that in the video). Fun to see someone talk about this show!
This show was a show I swear no one else remembered other than me and I was OBSESSED with as a kid and still am now so like oh my god I screamed I’m so excited I’ve been waiting for this day
i’m gonna cry 🥹 blues clues & blues room was one my favorite shows growing up. i’m so glad that someone other than me and my brother is willing to talk about this pretty obscure part of the show
Blues Clues was one of the first shows i ever watched as a kid and i loved it so much. I even had inflatable thinking chair with Blue peeping her head behind it. It truly holds a special place in my heart and i will never forget it for as long as i live. Genuinely i get teary eye whenever i think about it or rewatch the intro to it. Long live Blue 💙
this show feels like a fever dream that only i remembered so it's nice to hear someone else acknowledge it lol. i remember i had a dvd for the show and i was obsessed with it as a kid i dunno if this makes any sense but it _feels_ like the kind of show that had a run of several years and was pretty popular, and yet it ran for 17 episodes and was really obscure
I was born in 98 and this channel is all the stuff I thought I was "too cool" for but secretly enjoyed. I wont lie, some goes other my head but I love this channel!!
I remember the INSAAANNEE amount of promo surrounding blues room. I never see people talk about it so its always felt like such a fever dream. i remember watching the pilot/first episode air live. pretty sure I recorded it on tape lol. there was a loooot of online content as well on nickjr's website
I love blue clues and I just realized by watching your video that I may of watched blues room or at least seen the ads of it on other nick preschool dvds that I owned or saw on tv
im so glad you made a video on blues room! this show was so important to me as a kid, i even liked it more than the original blues clues which is saying a lot because i loved blues clues im also glad you made this because polka dots and sprinkles are always just chilling in the back of my brain and no one ever knows what im talking about, they are literally the cutyest i ever saw
blues clues was one of my absolute favourite kids shows. i always felt like i watched it way past into when i was “supposed” to (for ref, i was born in 2000, watched episodes on vhs , and remember blues room airing and REALLY enjoying the puppety aspect/art style) i totally had forgotten about the chest , doodleboard , rory, but polka dot and Moona STAYED dormant in my mind. that is so insane hahaha. i also had a few blues stuffed animals and i didnt have the one that spoke but i had one that looked just like it . i miss it lol im sure she’s somewhere in my childhood home but i dont think i’ll go back to find it. thank you for this video :)
I watched this show in kindergarten and enjoyed it a lot! Blue's talking voice was very sweet and mellow. Roar E was cute too and I to this day I find myself singing "get ready and set let's go Blue is talking on video" - so catchy
MY ENTIRE CHILDHOOD1!! i had the cd rom game growing up and I made little masks and did the printble activitys and MATEEEEE it was better imo.. 4 year old me would be so happy
I loved this episode! I very much remember this show and as a Blues Clues lover I was excited to see a new version of her show. I didn't watch this show a lot, but it still means a ton to me. I have lots of nostalgia for the commercials lol
I WAS OBSESSED WITH THIS SHOW!!! I WAS OBSESSED WITH PUPPETS AS A KID (I still am actually) SO THIS SHOW WAS PERFECT FOR ME, ESSPECIALLY SINCE I WAS ALREADY OBSESSED WITH THE ORIGINAL SHOW
This video brought back so many repressed (but welcomed) memories of getting Blue's Room DVDs at the library and watching them whenever I was sad or sick
39:00 why do i want to CRY like i could NEVER have known at the time how much this would impact(i guess??) me because like it’s just all coming back to me this franchise is so wonderful 🥲
One Of My Hyperfixations Besides The Owl House, Amphibia And SuperKitties Is BLUES CLUES!! Im SO Happy That Someone Talked About Blues Room, Because It’s So Underrated!
The special connection I had to both Steve and Joe was that it's both my name and my brother's, so we had that looking up to them. It got even more special with the intro of Josh because that's also the name of my brother's best friend. For that reason, the show will always hold a special place in my heart.
My favorite holiday special as a kid was always the Blue's Clues holiday special because it was where I learned about different holidays like Hanukkah and Kwanzaa which made it seem a lot more special. The only other show that I can remember that did the same is Special Agent Oso. Also, of course I thought that I somehow missed Blue's Room (wouldn't be the first time I completely missed a show that was still running) but a lot of this looks so familiar so uh, another childhood memory has been recovered lol. Lula you are single-handedly restoring my inner child so thank you for that ❤
i remember having one of the DVD things for it. it literally only had 3 episodes on it and i was scared by the Nick Jr 1999 logo back then so it eventually just went into the shelf with all my other DVDs. never to be seen again.
This show truly is timeless because I'm a late gen Z (born 2009) and I grew up with blues room and blues clues I had blues room on DVD and I watched it a lot when I was going to bed and blues clues I just watched a lot I don't know what I watched it on
When I was a kid I didn't really like Blue's Room but watching it now I love it. One of the best shows from that era of Nick Jr. It just makes you feel good when you watch it.
I remember for a long time thinking blues room was something I some how made up in my very young mind. To me it was always super cool to see blues room as a kid because it only aired very rarely based on my memory so I thought it was like super awesome and cool to see it
Jesus you just unlocked a chunk of my memory with those advertisements. I remember lowkey liking blues room more than actual blues clues. I still watched it alot when I was younger
puppets have always been my special interest but blues room and Sprinkles will always be special to me since that same year he arrived I got my own baby brother! I remember the activities made to hype up the episode, the little flash game of decorating a puppy to guess what he'd look like and coloring pages for it (I think the game is actually in the flash point archive) I was so excited. A bit disappointed when my baby brother wasnt also a rainbow puppy, but y'know. I think this show was the reason Joe was my favorite host, I would get irrationally angry when other kids dissed my boy lmao
Growing up in the early 2000s I LOVED Blue’s Clues but anytime Blue’s Room was on it felt like a holy grail cause I loved it and it barely ever aired, at least for me, and that made it even more special to me cause I was always happy to see an episode when it was on. Also I’m 22 and some adults are still surprised I know what a VHS is even though VHS was still around while I was growing up so I don’t see anything changing anytime soon but we can only hope!
I barely remember this series, like I THINK I saw it in my young years. I was AWARE of the original Blues Clues series at the time, and still am today, but never this "spin-off" series...

As a boomer, i was around for the original host in the 90s. The series came out at a great and innocent time for children shows. Things were original and had intent of a message. Blues clues is multi-generational. Love what youre doing here! ❤
Are you a boomer? How old are you?
when ever I see a blue's clues video, I cry so thank you.
Omg yass I remember blue's room! The puppets were so adorable.
this show was before my time (i was born in 2009) but i still had it on dvd and i would watch it like every day when i was little. i vaguely remember my favorite episode being that jungle one idk how to describe it it's been like 10+ years since i even thought of it.
To add to your point about the holiday special, I'm also Gen Z and a bit older than you are and I remember a Blue's Clues holiday video tape where either Steve or Joe took Blue around the neighbourhood and visited Blue's friends celebrating different holidays like Kwanza or Chanukah, and Christmas too obviously, so these creators have always made it a point to highlight different holidays and I think that's delightful 😊
Side note, if you pay attention there's a lot of signing in the episodes of the regular seasons too I remember Steve even having a def friend at one point
This video made realize I remember so much of these episodes than I expected!
your channel itches a very specific part of my brain's hyperfixations and i love it
I actually kept a Blue’s Room World Traveler’s Disc, which I used to watch when I was way younger. I actually still have it.
Oh i LOVED Blues room the episode when she got the key and we found out she was the moon puppy or something was my favv
Blue’s Room is so nostalgic to watch. I remember I had several DVDs of blue’s room episodes and I watched them over and over when I was 6 years old.
This show was a show I swear no one else remembered other than me and I was OBSESSED with as a kid and still am now so like oh my god I screamed I’m so excited I’ve been waiting for this day
I thought this was just a fever dream I had! Thanks for unlocking another memory of mine Lula!
i’m gonna cry 🥹 blues clues & blues room was one my favorite shows growing up. i’m so glad that someone other than me and my brother is willing to talk about this pretty obscure part of the show
Blues Clues was one of the first shows i ever watched as a kid and i loved it so much. I even had inflatable thinking chair with Blue peeping her head behind it. It truly holds a special place in my heart and i will never forget it for as long as i live. Genuinely i get teary eye whenever i think about it or rewatch the intro to it. Long live Blue 💙
Your video reminded me of the Blue’s Room pc game I used to play a lot when I was younger. So thanks for giving me a reason to play it again
this show feels like a fever dream that only i remembered so it's nice to hear someone else acknowledge it lol. i remember i had a dvd for the show and i was obsessed with it as a kid
i dunno if this makes any sense but it _feels_ like the kind of show that had a run of several years and was pretty popular, and yet it ran for 17 episodes and was really obscure
I loveeee the hour long+ videos! Thank you!
blue is so adorable with her sweet little voice omfg im cry
blue’s clues was always my favorite and seeing blue’s room again feels like a fever dream!!
Blue's Room is 20 as of this year
when i was little i had a dvd of nick jr bedtime episodes and the blues room one was my favorite. i loved sprinkles he looked so cute and cuddly
I was born in 98 and this channel is all the stuff I thought I was "too cool" for but secretly enjoyed. I wont lie, some goes other my head but I love this channel!!
That’s my comment on Angela’s post!!
OMG thank you for your service 🙏
@@lulaloopsey You’re so welcome! :D
I remember the INSAAANNEE amount of promo surrounding blues room. I never see people talk about it so its always felt like such a fever dream. i remember watching the pilot/first episode air live. pretty sure I recorded it on tape lol. there was a loooot of online content as well on nickjr's website
I love blue clues and I just realized by watching your video that I may of watched blues room or at least seen the ads of it on other nick preschool dvds that I owned or saw on tv
im so glad you made a video on blues room! this show was so important to me as a kid, i even liked it more than the original blues clues which is saying a lot because i loved blues clues
im also glad you made this because polka dots and sprinkles are always just chilling in the back of my brain and no one ever knows what im talking about, they are literally the cutyest i ever saw
blues clues was one of my absolute favourite kids shows. i always felt like i watched it way past into when i was “supposed” to (for ref, i was born in 2000, watched episodes on vhs , and remember blues room airing and REALLY enjoying the puppety aspect/art style) i totally had forgotten about the chest , doodleboard , rory, but polka dot and Moona STAYED dormant in my mind. that is so insane hahaha. i also had a few blues stuffed animals and i didnt have the one that spoke but i had one that looked just like it . i miss it lol im sure she’s somewhere in my childhood home but i dont think i’ll go back to find it. thank you for this video :)
Never dissapointed when I get a notification that you posted! This is healing your inner child at its best!
RUAHH, YOU DON'T WANNA KNOW HOW EXCITED I AM TO SEE THIS VIDEO 💜💜 I LOVE BLUES ROOM
Commenting but coming back to watch because I KNOW THIS IS ABOUT TO BE REALLY GOOD
I quite enjoyed blues room as a kid.
Same here.
Oh my God SUPERKITTIES Im so happy there's another adult out here obsessed with those stupid little cats
I binged super kitties, the cats and villains are so cute
@@commiemommie9802 Bitsy supremecy! Taking that to heart 😌
I remember the segment of it Blue's Clues, I mean, talk about pure nostalgia.
My grandparents had a Blues Room DVD, I still remember watching it with my younger sisters
The advertising for this show would've been so confusing for the kids who never saw Blue's Clues lol
*"BLUE CAN TALK!!!!!"*
Yep 😂😂
Now I’m imagining a “Who’s on first?” situation with one kid who has seen the show explaining what’s going on to another kid who hasn’t seen it.
I grew up with Steve too! I didn't know that he leaves in 2002
The special connection I had to both Steve and Joe was that it's both my name and my brother's, so we had that looking up to them.
Lula you are single-handedly restoring my inner child so thank you for that ❤
i remember having one of the DVD things for it. it literally only had 3 episodes on it and i was scared by the Nick Jr 1999 logo back then so it eventually just went into the shelf with all my other DVDs. never to be seen again.
yaaay new lula video!!! tysm blues clues is my favorite!!!🩷🩷🩷🩷
aw this show looks so cute, it has that quaint childhood show vibe though maybe it's just my love of puppets speaking
Never got to see Blue's Room, so thank you for covering it!
This show truly is timeless because I'm a late gen Z (born 2009) and I grew up with blues room and blues clues I had blues room on DVD and I watched it a lot when I was going to bed and blues clues I just watched a lot I don't know what I watched it on
yeah same. born in 2010 but had a metric ton of blues clues/room dvds.
When I was a kid I didn't really like Blue's Room but watching it now I love it. One of the best shows from that era of Nick Jr. It just makes you feel good when you watch it.
I remember loving this show so much, it was so nice to just look at.
I remember for a long time thinking blues room was something I some how made up in my very young mind. To me it was always super cool to see blues room as a kid because it only aired very rarely based on my memory so I thought it was like super awesome and cool to see it
Blues clues and blues room was my show back in the day so watching this gave me a big wave of nostalgia
THANK YOU FOR THIS QUEEN !!! 😭🙏🏻💕
Jesus you just unlocked a chunk of my memory with those advertisements.
I remember lowkey liking blues room more than actual blues clues. I still watched it alot when I was younger
I Loved watching Blue’s Clues and Blue’s Room growing up, I especially Love Joe, Blue and Sprinkles!😂🤣❤️📺🎶👍🏻
All of the puppets are so incredibly cute and huggable. Props to the folks who designed and made them.
Blues Clues holds a special place in my heart for many years with other nick jr show for the past decade
puppets have always been my special interest but blues room and Sprinkles will always be special to me since that same year he arrived I got my own baby brother!
Blue's Room is an underrated series that means a lot to me, so I feel glad that you made a made about it.
