Looking forward to the 290's fixes and improvements! Owning, operating and maintaining this kind of equipment is such an awesome way to earn a living. I'm dabbling around in the trades atm but would like to own and run some machines one day. Cheers from Canada!

When you get over that 70,000 threshold,it requires a more specialized (more axles)setup. The herd is severely thinner at that capacity.

I have seen many Volvo excavators now working on construction sites across the country, but what amazes me is that basically these same excavators could not be given away when they were Samsung...what a difference a name makes.

Pretty nice machine. You always have little bugs to get worked out, especially on used equipment. It sure doesn't look like it was abused and banged around. Thanks for sharing.

  • @Connykol

    The speed is adjustable.
If you have a good mechanic then he will solve it.
If you remove the magnet from the EGR valve without disconnecting the
wires, the machine will run faster and dispose of less diesel.
What you need is a 17 or 19 tool and a tape tie to hang up the magnet on the side so that the cables are not damaged.

It's funny you mentioned the pins and bushings. When I hear the audio, you could tell the bucket was shaking a bit. I thought to myself "Chris will have that fixed soon." :-)
What does it take to move that locally on the roads? You mentioned it took them a while to get a permit to move it down from Virginia.

Great looking machine. Do you do a Volvo fluid analysis on any of your machines? We have done it on a Volvo loader and have been able to stretch out our service interveals with using good fluids and saved money. When new and under warranty we had to use Volvo filters which were a lot more expensive than a Wix filter and still a very good quality filter. Good luck on the new purchase.

You might want to check the Control Valves for the boom, seems like it is not opening up all the way. I could be a linkage is a little loose. If It has the electronic controls It may have a adjustment screw in the handles mounts. I seen that in a John Deere and Cat years ago.

In UK I believe it'd be 29 metric ton, not including any hyd or diesel fluid or bucket not sure if it includes dipper arm or not. So I'd guess it'd weigh out around the 35 metric ton mark as it stands there, which is about right for the weight you were given.

The 360 blc that i run is slow on the lift to and i have new pumps on it, (looks the same as the one on this 290) i also have all pistons repacked, even the main hydraulic package halves is resealed, only the cups ontop etc on it remains and i might get a somewhat tight machine. 2.3 m3 quick attach bucket on it to.

It takes a larger diameter cylinder to get enough surface area on the pistons to lift heavier loads. They take more oil to fill. To get more speed it takes larger pumps and larger pumps take a larger engine which uses more fuel.
