@@randywilson6869 I guess it all depends on the (extra) cost of a tiltrotator. @@Blazer02LS Very good point. Weight is a serious factor in deciding between what attachments you need and what you would like. The built in tongs don't make up for a thumb but do have their uses.
The tilt and rotor is not part of the bucket, it is known as a "rototilt". The bucket is just a standard swedish grading bucket. You can put any attachment on a rototilt and make it tilt and rotate.
People often say a tiltrotator is expensive, but in fact its not. As long as you have a "Sandwich Coupler" so you can drop it off, for the use of Breakers or Clearing tools and such. But in landscaping and so it can replace a small grader, maybe a skidsteer, as its the perfect toolcarrier for Grading Beams, Compactors, Mulchers and much other tools that often need to be used at different angles, especially in combination witch oilquick or the steelwrist coupler thats quite the same.
What Volvo hasn't included in the cab is the Microwave, for those Factor fresh not frozen delivered to your door Meals . Add to the list ,they havnt changed out that side mirror for a Camera,as we know the mirrors are vulnerable to falling limbs !
Nice machines. Especially that EC400 looks very nice. The obvious standard tracks though look a little narrow. Probal they have wider versions. It does not matter when they are standing on rocks, but taking those larger ones to a softer ground might be ”interesting”. Roto-tilt is a useful system when you work around buildings, houses and all types of infrastructure like cables, pipes etc. With tongs you can move other stuff like small walk behind compactors. The only job you might have used roto-tilt was when you filled the swimming pool with rocks and you had to turn your bucket. In wast majority of your projects a thumb is much more useful.
Do you ever use Scandi buckets over with you Chris? Not seen them used much across the pond! Reckon it'd be a useful addition during your grading/finishing work?
Bad ass machines. So good to see them. Tony Beets is the man. Always great to see him. What happened to dirtperfect? Did you trade him in for Tony lol.
Overall very impressive machines and seems Volvo are listening to its consumer/operators. Trust the new machines have a suitable position for mobile phone when placed can be seen by the operator easily.
Electric excavators have there uses but for the type of work you do in the places you work you would have to cart around a gas or diesel powered generator to every job site. I’d like to know how long they will run on a full charge. I wouldn’t think that they would run for 8 or more hours before needing to be recharged but I may be wrong. I can’t even imagine how much it would cost to replace the batteries.
$60k for the outboard charger with built in battery of the same size. It's a container type thing about 8' x 8' x 10'. 7000 kg I don't know what the battery itself costs.
How do those new machines candles hold up to your new 350 candle I think that you are good on equipment you just need a another haul truck now and then you’ll be all good to go

If you add a quick oil system u can eliminate alot of hoses, for those on the boom and stick you could add thick rubber mats as they use in tunnels if you are afraid of sticks n crap damaging pipes/electrics. yes it is pretty expensive but you can do so much with a tilt rotator. like 70% of companies in eu use them on every excevator.
Multi directional tilting grooming bucket with grappling hooks. Sounds good. Lots of expensive toys. I think Volvo is a great machine.. Wish I had the money.

The next contest for you and Mike is, who can pick up a can of Pepsi with the tongs without piercing it!😉😋 Edit: On a side note, that bright green spiral wrap makes it really easy to see where your hoses are in relation to any hazards. Just going from how it shows up on camera, I would guess it will show very well under UV light. Another option for games with those tilt/rotator buckets would be to set up a line of machines. 1st machine picks up a bucket full of water or whatever, has to swing around to the next machine, which will have it's bucket rotated forwards and up, tip the water into that bucket with minimal loss. Next operator has to pass the water along the line. All take turns and see who loses the least.

The problem I have with Electric Construction Equipment is the fact that when you start a new subdivision or a private property build is that your needed support is not available as far as Electric.
