Well, I guess if you are charging one off a standard ANZ 240 volt supply, it'll probably use most of the 2400 or so watts it can suck for the whole time it is charging - so the rating would be zero stars - but yeah, nothing designed to charge a battery gets a energy star rating because it doesn't really make sense to.

@StacheD is doing an emissions analysis on a BEV by putting it on a yooj barbecue in February 2024. This should be very informative. I looked hard to find the liquid solvent details published for Lithium NCM and Lithium LFP batteries. It was only when I tracked down the solvent manufacturer (in Japan?) that I saw ethylene was listed for both. Sodium Ion batteries (can) use traces of trimethyl phosphate, fluroethylene carbonate, but it’s going to be Sodium PerChlorate or Sodium hexa Fluoro Phosphate. Plus a bit of water and maybe an Ethel ester. The list looks like the side of a shampoo bottle by now and we aren’t really going to know what is emitted in a fire until someone like @StacheD chucks a few in the fire then measures the result

As someone born in the late fifties, remember with horror, the Vinyl seats of the late sixties and early seventies. The third degree burns on the backs of my thighs in the summer, or the frost burn in the winter(yes I had to wear shorts as we were poor-because my dad spent the money on a Ford Cortina "Super" 1300 instead of clothing us and feeding us appropriately).

These companies and all of their vertical support infrastructure like auto part stores, delivery drivers, even body shops, will all go out of business, because you can’t even do major body repairs on these EV vehicles.

This thing is just over 7 feet wide. Here in the UK I have a pretty much average sized drive which is 8 feet wide. Doubtful I could get out but great antitheft device as no one could open a door to get in. Marked out parking spaces at malls, cinema’s, car parks are only about 9 feet wide and once you get off our motorways/dual carriage ways/main roads and onto our "normal" sized roads this thing is going to be a PITA. Better keep a large supply of door mirrors in your garage as they will be wiped off the vehicle regularly. Our buses, at 8ft 6inches wide, will ping them off for on board entertainment for the passengers.

We're going to use solar panels which are pretty inefficient at the best of times, dont work at night, don't present a recycling nightmare as they last forever and definitely don't use any carbon in manufacturing, shipping or installation.
These will then charge a battery. Definitely not made from rare elements or dubiously sourced. These will of course be 100% efficient at charging and again last forever, not presenting a fire hazard or recycling mess.
This home installed battery will then charge the EV battery which is parked in the garage which everyone has and definitely doesn't present the danger of setting fire to your home or the homes of nearby people and their vehicles.
    Why it all makes sense.

So from China EV brand 1.0 to China EV brand 2.0?
He was very passionate about it and how he came up with its look.
A Coupe and an SUV but mixed together. As he says a new breed of vehicle.
And I'll admit it looks okay-ish!
Until he got to the bit about him not wanting or them needing a rear window!
Its camera apparently gives way more vision to the rear than a mirror.
    Ah really?
Hasn't there been rear windows in cars for like, forever! Because they work?!
He said there was light from the glass roof and the LED lights inside the car that would make rear passengers feel like they were in a normal 'old fashioned' car!
PS4 is the first ever non super car to not have a rear window.
Johnny says in the vid that there are many Polestar 2's on the road in the UK. Ah one should check the sales numbers for them!
Or am I being too much of a journalistic radio broadcaster?
He says too that the P4 has a 2mm longer wheelbase than Range Rover so it has lots of cabin space and not much overhangs. Sculpted for aerodynamics.
As long as a Range Rover?!
Interestingly P4's lit front badge isn't legal in Europe to drive with only turning on when you press unlock for the first time.
Max says the PS4 has much more space in the back by not having a rear window. It means you can put more in the boot without than with.
Interestingly with the two of them in the back seat Johnny admits they had to use studio lights to illuminate them due no rear window!
Johnny does show the massive charge port door. Why so big??
His video said you could buy one now, when his video, after the embargo, was released.
I have an old friend who is way down the path of buying one.
I'll be sending him your vid JC.
As you've done many times before you bring some rational and sense to their mad-arse buying decisions!
    Hope you're superb!

EV's that are driven as a daily driver, shreds tires faster than a visiting in-laws welcome. A set lasts a year, tops. At $1400 to $2000 for at set. Added to that higher insurance premiums, and if your not fortunate enough to have home charging, and rely on public chargers, then there are virtually no savings. The hole green thing evaporates along with the green in your wallet.

Given that weight is a determinant factor in the wear and tear of roads and weight in vehicles increases with size; and that large-sized vehicles are not required (they may be wanted but they are not required); and that EVs are escaping both their fair share of weight taxes and the huge "donation" to GENERAL REVENUE made by ICE vehicle owners every time they fill up; why not remove the excise on fossil fuels and reconstitute the weight tax with a flat tax up to say 1800Kgs and then a sliding scale increasing every 200Kgs or so for the obese vehicles. Should limit sales of the fatties above 2000Kgs.

EV-s charging from solar panels for free? Let me ask something:
    - Do those panels come for free?
    - Get installed for free?
    - All the necessary gizmos that accompany those panels, those are free too?
    - Maintenance?
    No?
Even fruits from home garden don't come for free. Garden has to be maintained, seeds grown and sown, soil plowed etc. DIY? Time is money, they say.
Q2: How much ecological footprint do solar panels have when produced and when (if ever) will they cross over CO2 neutrality line? A little math quiz, that is.

This channel use to regularly publish great content on engineering and motoring. Now it is nothing but click bait for anti-EV and anti-woke rants that are sounding more like thoughts from the shuffle board court of "Del Boca Vista". I agree that EVs are not the saviours they are marketed to be, and would never contemplate owning one in their current specs, but how much longer are you going to flog the narrative. It is like you have found a whole new bunch of devotees surfing the net looking for bias confirmation and they are upping your view rates. The anti-EV crowd come across as just as unhinged as the EV crowd - usually science denying nutters who think climate change is world socialist conspiracy. I get it you need to make some dollars, and there are a lot of angry anti-woke people to raise your view numbers, but if this channel is now nothing more than click bait for anti-woke LNP talking points, I can watch Sky News after dark, and find my engineering fix elsewhere.
