I'm a green belt in Taekwondo, 6,8" and quite flexible and agile. Just tried this and THIS is harder than it looks! I am able to perform the kick but I'm slow as hell lol. Mr Van Roon is a true master!
Ohhhhh I can see that triple coming in handy to confuse people. Do a few doubles to make them expect the second kick to come from a particular side, then instead follow up with that third and throw their whole rhythm off! Or even go from threes to twos! A little bit of controlled chaos to make them second guess everything you do. I love your tutorials, man! I sound like a broken record, but you always explore every aspect of a move and possible strategies with real thought and insight put behind it. If ever get some money one day, I’m seriously going over there for a few years just to train with you. Not joking at all. Great work!
Still have a LONG way to go with my sparring, but this is one of my favorite practice moves. It takes a bit to get comfortable enough with it to use it in points matches, but I'm getting there. Thanks for the details breakdown!
Hi Karl, one interesting topic for everyone doing martial arts, could be to make a video on treating bruises and other common litte injuries you sometime get from sparring, you probably know what i'm talking about. Surely enough, I just got the idea while lying on the couch, cooling a bruise 😎 😂
Great tutorial! My only question, I guess, is that you said the triple kick doesn't pack as much power as the double, but when you demonstrated it the third kick(s) sounded as loud as the second one(s), and rocked the dummy just as much; the head kick(s) especially seemed effective.
Thank you. I grew up doing Karate, Taekwon-Do and Kickboxing. These days I'm fighting in MMA. It's been a lifelong passion and wonderful journey of 26 years so far 🙏
It also depends on the practitioner. Any martial art can win in self defence if used correctly. If you're doing WTF Style Taekwondo, I recommend getting some basic experience in boxing. But it depends if your instructor does much punching work as "Tae Kwon Do" means the way of the foot and the fist so you may do punching work in WTF. But hey, good luck in whatever you pick.
Does this work in Karate? 3:50 The jogging on the spot with knee across the centre line looks to be a good exercise for roundhouse kicks too. 4:00 The above with hand swings I never really understood Narushima's move your knee accross the centre-line thing but this makes it really understandable. It looks really girly though! Girly but, and deadly. If I learned to do this the karate guys in my dojo would be amazed.
Im having problems with the kick, because u cant move ur hips as much and when i try doing a roundhouse with less pivot and stuff it feels wrong, like it just wants to move out more, any tips?
I’ve been thinking of talking to our students maybe have a small class on anti bullying and self defense is there something I should say and talk about or anything I should not talk about or say
Hi, quick question ( not a criticism BTW) why is it that taekwondo players keep their hands so low i.e. do not protect their chin. I get your kicks may be faster but surely the cons outweigh the pros ?
The general consensus for self-defence would seem to be that using a side kick is probably best to the knee rather than higher to prevent loss of balance or exposure to a takedown etc - what is called an oblique kick in MMA these days or what Bruce Lee described as: " Using my longest weapon to the closest target, your knee cap. This can be compared to a jab in boxing, except it's much more damaging"
@@VanRoonMartialArts I really appreciate your time to respond to me and explain it. I'm an old man (I'm 54y) and I started to practice Tae Kwon Do since 7 months. Grazie mille per tutto è buona giornata a te! Muchas gracias por tu consejo!

I think Taekwondo is the best fight style.
I like this so much.
It is hard. I never could get it when I was doing Tae Kwon Do. I want to get back into it.
@@valaki7841 there's no best fight style hehe
"A small circle beats both the straight line and the wide circle " . A highly useful technique in tournament sparring.
I am trying to get the hang of it! My hips are too tight at the moment, but I am taking my time and getting there! Thanks for a great tutorial!
Good on you! Keep it up :D
Just came back from training and i actually scored a nice hit with this kick so 👍
Nice work!
The way you explain is phenomenal.

Which one is better for self-defense, karate or taekwondo? And which one is easier to learn?
I think it depends a lot on who your instructor is! Plus the style of Karate / TKD you are doing.
I am going to join a club which teaches ITF Taekwondo.

I know it's impractical, but is it possible to do a triple all to the head? Quadruple?
U made it look like it’s nothing...I tried it and I almost sprained my ankle
How to make schedule of martial arts precise ? Like in gym chest day, lags day, bicep day
Which precise have to do daily in martial arts precise?
Tell me one thing please. Is the side kick a good option to attack in a street fight?

Kick is good, but they can grab by the leg and throw.
They could, but these kicks are quicker than others, making it harder to get caught
