What makes this so gut-busting hilarious is it starts out so slow and you don’t see it coming. As others have mentioned, the cherry on top would have been for her to say something like, “His name is Dr. Funt. F-U-N-T., first name Alan,” and see how long it took for him to get it 😄
It happened somewhat by accident. They were doing a different routine with a monkey, but he kept sitting on the woman's head...so Fannie and my father decided to try this. -Peter

Hard to believe that the man wouldn't ask the 2nd woman about the monkey. Or when Fannie came back, that he didn't ask her if she was playing a joke on him b/c he also saw a woman w/ a monkey on her head.

Everyone finds this funny? I thought the guy was a bit too serious to make it funny. He seemed ready to provide witness to her entry to an institution. We need a couple people in this prank to compare reactions. He was a real bore and very quick to want her in a doctors office.
Personally speaking, that's what made it even funnier, he was serious as hell. You gotta remember you can't go make jokes about a possible serious subject.
