@cockle69er The UK version of Candid Camera started in 1960. It returned in 1974 with the colour episode pranks that I've uploaded. The crew filmed in many locations in the UK including Margate and Portsmouth. A lot of the stunts were done in South West London in areas such as Richmond Upon Thames and Tolworth. I'm no expert although I did get info on the show from Arthur Atkins who worked on it. Let me know if you need more info and I will see if I can help.
That Irish woman was class, as was the Magistrate. Sure there was a lot of normalised bigotry back in the 70s, but at the same time people were much nicer and more polite to each other than they are now.
I remember years ago when I had to use a high quality hotel , a gentleman approached me in the car park and said " i,ll park your car for you sir" I thanked him and gave my name , On booking in I saw a notice on the wall stating, " If you had your car parked by the person in charge today," we sincerely hope that you took his details as we do not provide this service!" 😱😱😱...

The incidence of such behaviour arose as a result of certain traffic controlling mechanisms, the design and functions of automobiles - many many different - though often very subtle changes. Demands of all conceivable factors placed upon the human psyche have led to this - it's not a mysterious phenomenon.
This is from the mid seventies, when the old Candid Camera concept had been revived. The cars getting damaged were already fairly old models by that time. But they weren’t conspicuously old, as that would have drawn attention. Indeed, such vehicles were still on the road in the mid seventies.
Those yester years, people are more civilized and communicated in proper language. Sadly, deplorably, people of present days are uncivilized, uncouth, crass, and with limited vocaburary of foul language.
