I would be more impressed if John Henry got out of his sarcophagus, unwrapped his bandages and spoke to the fan base and media.
I do like Cora mentioning conditioning, though, when it comes to late season collapses. Certainly something that needs to be addressed. It will hopefully light a fire under a few players.
All I know is The Mets and Braves played a classic today where the season was on the line. I was excited following that game and I’m not a fan of either team. I want that excitement again as a Red Sox fan.

Blagh, Blagh, Blagh ! I've followed this team since 1946,This 2024 team had the following problems:
    .losing record at Fenway
    .losing record within their division
    .losing record (interleague) play
.struck out more than any other team in MLB
.Past 5 years did not resign core players
.At the All Star break they were plus eleven over .500( played a lot of weaker teams) second half of the schedule they played more winning teams and results showed, of the only played .500 ball they would have been plus eleven over .500 and in the playoffs.
.Blew several games last time NYY were at Fenway fly all to left and dropped(Saturday night game)
.Give up a 3 run homer to KCR in the 9th or 10th at Fenway.
Last but not least relief pitching is horrendous & starting pitchers need to go 7 innings.

I well remember what Pedro and Curt meant to the Redsox when they were signed . I need to see them invest in an ace and some solid bullpen help. I still remember Curt being signed over a holiday dinner. I think Luis Guerrero is going to be a great part of the bullpen next season. Our great young prospects are on the way so this is an ideal time to invest in the team. I hope they make it so. They can help the team further by taking top pitching prospects in the first couple of rounds of the mlb draft too. Detroit was smart. Taking Jackson Jobe # 3 in the 2021 draft. Drafted right out of high school. He moved quickly. Now he will be helping them. This is part of the pitching philosophy that needs to change for Boston. The powers that be are not going to be willing to continually shell out big money for free agent pitchers. So.....they darn well better put this package of internal pitching development together. Another example is Atlanta. Sale probably wins the Cy Young but do they rest on their laurels? No, they grab Cam Caminiti with their first round pick . He lasted all the way til the 24th pick. Braves management understands the value of top young pitching in the system and grabbing the top pitching talent available in the early rounds. I hope Boston does now as well.

Same types of promises as last year?
One of the bits of wisdom I was favored with as a smart-ass teenager, "If you feel that you really must lie to us, don't do it like you think we're stupid!".
The wisdom wasn't that it was okay to lie. The idea behind it was to show respect by not insulting intelligence. Boston's front office needs to be very mindful of the unfulfilled promises of a year ago. They need to think long and hard about how they communicate to a disappointed fan base.

I just don't know what there thinking anymore. And it's a manager job to make sure ur players rnt getting burnt out and not to add extra stress on ur leaders but that's exactly what happening. Yo not all about pitching u put more points on the board u make it easier for ur pitching there for there less worn-out and less likely to get an injury. And face u can't win games off pitching only sooner or later u r going to need points this game they have isn't work how many times do we need to see it fail

Corbin whether we like it or not the Sox would have to over spend to attract free agents! It's not an enviable position as players will want to come to a winner or at least a chance to compete for a title. The other factor will be the competion monetarily from other teams as teams like the Dodgers and Mets how much they are willing to spend!

If they want to be serious, they need to be bold and aim high with a right handed power bat (x2 if you want to consider re-signing O'Neill a necessity - which I do) and at least two starters with one of them being a front-of-the-rotation arm.
Pete Alonso is right there. If you can move Yoshida (man, I hope they do...), pencil in Alonso as a DH that can obviously play 1st if you want to DH Devers or give Casas days off.
I'd obviously love Burnes, but realistically that won't happen. I wouldn't hate a short deal for Shane Bieber coming off TJ surgery. Max Fried is there as a lefty to slot in perfectly as a 2 or 3. Trade could definitely be in play and I'd keep my eye of Sauron fixed on the Miami Marlins for that.
And they need to call up the kids. At least Anthony and Campbell need to break camp.

    • @markbailly8627
      @markbailly8627 10 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

And Teel up as well. Mayer at least starts in Worcester for at least part of the year (or traded as part of a deal for an ace) to show he can stay healthy or until Story gets hurt again. Don't want to see Hamilton, Valdez, Gonzalez, Gasper, Sogard in anything but a utility role or traded in 2025 and if any of them are regulars, something has gone very wrong. Money should be spent on an ace (preferably left handed) and possibly another starter as well, several proven reliable back of the bullpen arms and one or two right handed bats. No more reclamation projects coming off surgeries or bargain basement projects to save money on payroll. They will have plenty of money to spend and still stay under the tax threshold. Even more if they can somehow find a taker for Yoshida. With his salary and injury record in Boston, Story MUST stay healthy all year and hit like he did in Colorado. Casas (if not traded) MUST have a big bounce back year and Giolito and Hendricks MUST show they can contribute in a positive fashion coming off major surgeries.. The young guys will have their moments, but will also go through growing pains, so guys like Story, Devers, Wong, Casas must pick up the slack when they do. Defense MUST improve. That should be a primary goal in spring training, as well as figuring out the bullpen and their roles and plan B,C & D if plan A isn't cutting it. Finally, I think it's time for a new hitting coach with a different philosophy. Way too many strikeouts. Lots of IFS once again for 25, but it starts with ownership and management. The Éast is more competitive than ever and NY & Baltimore are miles ahead. Tampa will be better after a down year and all of a sudden, the Central is tough. The Sox were 9th out of 15 AL teams record wise, so they're closer to the cellar than the penthouse, so much work needs to be done. It all starts with John Henry though. We shall see.

Watched the whole thing. It was basically a reoccurring skit. You know the characters, you know their catch lines. Just a new year new situation. Kennedy says ownership is committed, we didn’t do enough, we hold ourselves to a higher standard. Breslow says he’ll explore all avenues and has the commitment and conviction from ownership to do what needs to get done to get better, but not actually saying anything specific or substantive and Cora says I like the progress that we showed and the clubhouse gets it but we need to be better.
I’m just a little skeptical. In theory, targeting burnes solves about half of your problems. They could also go after Crochet as no team could overwhelm them in an offer for him. They need at least 2 arms in the bullpen. Will they get younger and more dynamic or get a steady older presence or will they get an ace for the bullpen to accelerate the rebuild? There is a lot of ways to win, just hope they don’t hang tight like last year, although I understand why they did it, just can’t give them that much flexibility this offseason
