If this tractor came from the USMC, you have to understand one thing about our beloved Corps. (BTW over 50 years ago, I worked the repair bench on Communication and Navigation Avionics on the F-4 Phantom) We could never ever get the parts we needed in the Corps. We always had a shitload of in-op equipment on the AWAP shelf (awaiting parts). We deployed to other bases often and transported our mobile maintenance vans with us on large transport planes. If we went to an Airforce Base, we took a list of parts we needed back in California. The first radio or TACAN that came in to our shop for repair, we then went to the Air Force supply building ordered a bunch of parts against that piece of equipment in addition to the parts it needed to be fixed. The Air Force always had the parts available. WE came back to California and fixed everything. I can postulate that the unit where they use these tractors had the same problem. A new tractor arriving was more valuable as a donor unit. So one new tractor could be cannibalized and fix 10 tractors. Our motto was. "We have done so much, with so little, for so long, that now we can do anything with nothing."
I was never in the service however, from my experience with equipment in many different industries. I can see that logistics is always a problem. More so for a world wide organization that is constantly on the move on a moments notice. Really a nightmare. Scavenging parts from a single unit to make multiple operational make perfect sense. Thanks for your service.
@@ronvera It’s always more costly to cannibalism than to wait for the parts. Man hours are doubled. If you can’t support the mission have the balls to send it to headquarters for action.. However the star’s doesn’t give a crap just so they look good. Get in to supplies a$$ and get to work. I never did think marines should own airplanes anyway. They tear up everything they use…
@@mitchelldarnell5334I’m sure the lance in supply can 100% get you everything you need while forward deployed. Coming from a grunt- it’s not happening.
When I was in {the early 80's} we had similar issues. What really sucked was as an operator/mechanic if you knew a piece of equipment was a piece of crap you still had to try to get it going no matter what. Command always hated to retire any piece of equipment unless they knew it could be replaced. Since we were in an Engineer Bat. rapid deployment was a huge driving force. But when a piece was retired you can bet it was stripped bare to the bones before it ever made it to the boneyard.
As I was once told early in career - there no levels of dishonesty. Cliff to admit to errors and then rectify them, indicates to all the quality of the man you are. We all no so many shady people that would ignored most of these and gone on to trick a buyer. Well done.
it's the little things that you guys make look easy, like installing the cab tilt cylinder and blindly installing the two washers. That sort of teamwork, sans conversation, can't be taught. It comes from both of you knowing exactly what to do and when to do it.............
Familiarity is the keyword. Clint, Kevin and Tucker have worked together long enough on a good few 850J's. Like anything, I guess. It becomes automatic and second nature after a while. They got the time to rib each other while they are working. The boys are past knowing how to fix it, they're just getting more proficient at it.
Bustin knuckles with Dad. This was such a great finish. Man that dozer looked like it was cutting the lawn. This machine just went for it's first walk 😂.
I was chuckling when you said "military dropped out of the sky" - saw a Humvee on which the drop parachute didn't open; that was a mess and not worth the time to even scrounge for parts. This 850 is sure a great build and fun to watch. Thanks for sharing it!
As a retired British Paratrooper, i was actually military that dropped out of the sky. Love this channel, and would love to get to try one of these tractors. Thanks guys
I'm impressed with the knowledge that the boss has. They say that you/we learn form our mistakes that are made - this means that the boss must have made a few more than a lot.
An absolutely superb show, my favourite on TH-cam, All people on this show have a valued part to play but I will say that I see Tucker coming on in leaps and bounds learning his skills VERY quickly which proves when kids are taught properly they will not only thrive in life but will pass on their knowledge to the next generation too, great entertainment all. Thanks.
Thanks for Saving it from the Scrapman - Camouflage is the way to Go - for Color...Kevin and Crew Can Do There Magic...Thanks Clinton - Get Well Soon...Stay Safe...
Clint, found this series on the 850 very interesting to watch and extremely informative as to what you are trying to get accomplished and the why’s and the reasons it was or wasn’t working and your thoughts on troubleshooting and overall function and performance of the 850. If a person really has the desire to learn, your channel is about the best equipment repair and troubleshooting channel on Y.T. to date, and there are some good ones out there. It is a pleasure to watch you and Tucker working together and to witness Tuckers growth, that young man is going to be a real asset to the company in time to come, mom and dad have a couple of fine young men being raised by you two, thank you for the update and once again, great video series.
I'm so impressed with how you guys took an 850 that was a complete basket case and got it back together. When I saw it setting there in pieces, in such a short time, you have it moving again. I'm surprised you didn't have more hiccups with the children playing with everything before you bought it. Great job, everyone.
Absolutely love this series on the ground up dozer built. The knowledge you have to put these together basically from scratch just amazes me. You are awesome Clinton. And it certainly helps to have a great group of guys helping you. Nothing better than having a group of guys getting along well and getting the job done.
Amazing transformation to this point...and as you shake it down you will have it pretty darn perfect. Always cool content as you work through these challenging dozers.. amazing to see you overcome every hurdle and give these dozers life again. Looking forward to seeing your next update and thanks for sharing your day with us.😎🚜🇺🇲🛠️🧰👨🔧🚜😇
SUCCESS. Team: C&C took a pile of scrap and made a new 850. Lots of little fiddly parts & pieces (Not talking about Kevin. LOL) had to come together that would drive a person nutz. Bugs are bound to show up after a massive rebuild...carry on.
absolutely LOVE that beast of a dozer...I'm really wanting one when I grow up...I'm 45 now haha...but seriously am planning to get one about that size possibly in the next 5-6 years when I retire, it'd be a great asset on the farm...GREAT video
Another great episode of life at C&C. Tucker is turning into quite a decent work buddy. Keep answering all his questions clint and one day you'll be relaxed watching the boys run the shop.
Driving that thing out of the shop for it's shakedown, I was thinking "Look at that thing that really was a piece of junk now 1/2 million $ working piece of art". Great Job, and thanks for all the effort into sharing it with us. Best thing to watch on the net.

That dozer rolling those layers of that hard pan clay up brings back memories. She grunts a couple times and gets to it. "This is what I was built for". Tks_Clint another one lives!!
