I attribute it coming back to the fact that the track "The Politics and The Life" from the movie "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" 2017 sampled the song.
Perfect song as well since this is a very old Welsh song which was sung by Welsh soldiers marching to fight the invading English. The song is about 300 Welsh men and Picts from the old welsh kingdom of Strathclyde that went to war against thousands of Anglo Saxons and died a glorious death.
YESSS! Went to bed thinking about this song tonight, remembering that I had searched for it for so long in the past. Xerberus says 10 years. Has it really been that long? Never found it alone, I always just listened to the music in the trailer (Loved the trailer) AND HERE IT IS IN PLAIN SIGHT! Thank you so much!
Some colonies never surrendered. Even after the glassing, the ragtag bands of survivors resorted to guerrilla tactics against the Covenant. ODSTs preferred the Covenant carbine, even capturing a Covenant destroyer at one point, and raised a tattered flag on the barren highlands once they learned the war was over.
Playing this song for any new Helldivers I come across while waiting in Orbit. If they're old hands from the days of ODST, they'll understand... If not, they eventually will.
Let it be known that even the Elites held an unspoken respect for Humanity during the human-covenant war. The tenacity, bravery, and cleverness displayed by Humanity in their 25 year long defensive war of attrition struck the most revered warriors of the covenant as worthy of respect and admiration. Think of the millions upon millions of humans who died fighting in the halo universe, it's no wonder so many elites considered it an honour to die in battle against a worthy enemy.
This is a rather old comment but I love this. Said it perfectly about Humanity during the events of Halo. The few things Humanity holds in favor for when they lacks in physical strength and speed is determination and survivability.
@@TheOwnpwn123 Not to mention ingenuity. Like the time they used a nuclear weapon to make a gas giant go supernova and wipe out a much larger covenant fleet during a battle they would have otherwise lost. There is nothing more dangerous than somebody who is boxed into a corner

Halo had such a way of portraying Humanity. When placed against an Alien Armada like the Covenant, who outnumbered them 10 to 1 and was pretty much commiting a mass genocide against them, they STILL pushed back and fought with absolutely everything. Not even a single thought of surrender because everyone knows a humans determination to survive overcomes anything even if it means risking death.
Much of the covenants history is steeped in warrior traditions. What the covenant never realized is so is ours. time and time again we surprised them with our ferocity and tenacity. and when they burned our worlds, it only strengthened our resolve. we sent our champions and fought them on every front; they died gallantly but never in vain. the covenant soon discovered that humanity would not be stifled without fighting to the end. and in the end humanity triumphed, bringing pride to our warrior past.
Remember when bungie took away that power you had as a Spartan, a literal super soldier, and put you in the shoes of an ODST and made up for the loss with the Jazz and the amazing soundtrack? I do too. It’s cool to see things from another character’s perspective, cause it really makes you think.
From a commenter on another video, these are the lyrics in the original Welsh: "Gafflwn Dihenydd, o'r fuddugol yn wiriol sydd. Ni fydd neb yn ein Drechu, Falch ydy ni i drochu, Traed o flaen i'r Annwn, mewn y gwybodaeth fe godwn ni.'' Which translate into English as: "We cheat Death from his rightful victory. No one can defeat us we are glad to plunge feet first into hell in the knowledge that we will rise."
Holy shit. That’s perfectly fitting for who the ODST are. I’d always assumed it was some random song that was dramatic enough to fit the trailer for the game, but this shows otherwise. Goddamn.
This inspired lore for one of the races in my D&D setting. The Tutag are basically what you would get if you blended together Celts, dwarfs, and halflings. Short fellows, lovers of peace, but no stranger to war. Every once in a while, before battle, one of them will receive the Death Kenning. They will awaken knowing that they shall die in battle. They will host their own wake, and paint themselves not with woad, but with ashes. A message to their healers to not waste their time upon him. And a warning to their foes that when they fall, they shall drag their enemies across the Bone River with them.
Imagine your army marching, thinking they will win the battle, but see an army of Tutag 3 times your size of the army, all painted with ash, not yelling, chanting, just silent walking.
I learned to sing this phonetically over a year. My father died on the eve of the pandemic. I never got the chance to spread his ashes as he wished, I plan to sing this when I do.

The thing about ODST is that we're just a soldier. You not the one who saves the day, and any encounter could be your last. The rain, loneliness, and slight hope to survive until sunrise driven by the idea that your squad might still be alive. I feel like Halo should explore more of that. The recent games have been much more movie like in the way they tell the stories and make you progress. Take Infinite for example, it could have been grounded and grittier. You might be playing as Master Chief, but your whole armada was annihilated along with the Infinity and her crew. The few drop ships who managed to land onto the ring with no other place to fall back can't contact the UNSC for extraction or back up. They are literal marines, stranded on an half destroyed Halo colonized by blood thirsty aliens. They know they won't make it out alive. They'll be hunted down until no human life form pops up on their radars... It's sort of like CE, when they crash land onto a ring for the first time. Except now they know what they are up against. They know they have no chance (technically, with how quick they were obliterated). But instead, you're the green guy who runs up to win a war alone. Lot of focus put into him and The weapon / Cortana instead of what's actually going on. I prefer games that can tell a story the way it is. War is not colorful, and the situation they were in in Infinite was perfect to tell a more realistic story. Even if you're a team of well trained Spartans, you're not invincible. You're still one bullet away from ending on a memorial.

@@BrokenCircle1 No man just no any kind of custom character they make for the player they always seem to just kill them off it sucks
He's not dead, just regrouping in Hell.
Agent 236 Wars like that sometimes, same way Kat died after all

Thanks for the awesome feedback i do apalogize in advance just in case this video disapears next month due to youtubes new ftc and coppa act law
@@gamesmovienation3516 coppa is an act to protect children but i dont think u have to worry about coppa. Ftc is probably going to be the main problem
@@bnuuycomrade5089 i actually figuired it out and i found out its youtube that had everyone in fear but the ftcactually pretty much said hey you can post whatever you want were here to make sure that actual channels that target kids on purpose and for that purpose we are after them were not out to get anyone or destroy their channel were just trying to get major vialoters

Thank you for this. It deserves to live on. Best quality. Only death stops this.

This.....this is really it. THE song! We finally can rest 😔
FYI: This song appears in its entirety on the track "The Politics & The Life" from the King Arthur soundtrack. It is likely called "Light of Aiden" as described above, but you won't find the correct version on most streaming or download services without searching for this, specifically. Hope this helps!
My good sir you are a hero
It's also used in the game War of the North as the prancing pony soundtrack
Those bagpipes hit like a brute.
I was born a year after halo 3 odst, and I played it for the first time a couple years ago, and I wondered “what would it be like to live in the halo universe as an ODST” and I discovered the We Are ODST trailer and got my answer
Think of it like a United States marine given ODST armor, that’s pretty much the pride they share, the bravery they display. And the sheer will to do whatever it takes to accomplish and obj.
@@MarkZangalse yeah, that’s actually a really good way to put it
This song stirs deep and primal feelings in me.
Never fails to pump me up before the gym
This song would go perfect with a movie about the forerunner saga, they could have it cover the monologue at the begining of the series and the bloody destruction left behind by the humans and the San'shyuum of forerunner worlds in their attempt to stop the flood and the begining of the their war with the forerunners.
Too long have I searched to no avail for this song, to all my ODST's it's been one hell of a night.
Imagine they made a Halo tv show spinoff centered around ODSTs with the dark, gritty aesthetic of this trailer
I hope so maybe one day
Only legends who had the ODST armour for their avatar 💪🏽💯
This music makes me connect with my ancestors
Back when halo developers understood good stories and good marketing.

I would totally be okay to have another ODST game set in 2558+. Maybe during the current Forerunner war.
At this moment, this video has 117 views. What a coincidence
Thanks for the awesome feedback. Could you explain the coincidence of 117 please?
Nevermind i figured it out that is so cool
Spartans never die there just missing in action.
but
nether do ODST there just go one circle deeper.
where did you get that? i gasped. one hell of a quote.
@@Halo2kido it is stated in halo 4 when Halsey is being interrogated she states that MC’s file says MIA, and the interrogator responds saying “Katherine, Spartans never die”

And my army of brothers went over the hilltops, drenched in blood we may be... but fighting is all left to me... Together with my army of brothers... down we fall... darkness in all... through hell..

Who else is here after the server shut downs?.....😭
