Well done guys. Rember the security people really arn't out to get you, though they might be annoyed by your presence. Its the scrappers they want to stop. Keep going and thanks for the excellent content!
I used to work security. The problem with this place is that it is really not a safe place to be. What is more, I would not have any way of knowing why someone is creeping around my building. How do I know they aren't scoping the place out to come back later?
Still though, what they are doing is illegal. It is trespassing, no matter what. Depending on their visa, they may even be breaking international law. Just remember that when you see them sneak into areas not just in other countries that have security.
Dang, guys. I'm glad I'm not watching this on an article titled "Shocking footage from mummified copper thieves found in abandoned building" five years from now.
I worked at a huge warehouse where you had to get to the front door 1/2 hour before shift in order to walk back to the work floor on time. It was all one big ass building, but not the labyrinth this one was. The Fisher body plant in Detroit was an awesome place to explore but it’s completely protected now. There are probably good video of it.
yeah, welcome to factory work, I don't work steel, I work in silicon but it takes 15 for me, 20 minutes for average walkers to get from the factory floor to anywhere to eat in the office area. Lucky for us break doesn't start till we are exiting the factory floor so maybe 10 minute walk from our machines to the gownroom door after taking off our gear then another 10 minutes to get to our locker and desk to eat or the cafe and risk the food there. I can't imagine working in a steel mill like my dad did, that work was brutal and hard on the body. Biggest risk I face is toxic gas leaks, acid splashes, electrocution, or magnetic radiation, maybe RF radiation if a magnetron leaks. Meh, beats burning to death in a vat of molten steel like my dads coworker.
@@Mikej1592 Even worse: I know somebody who got a job in a chicken eviscerating plant. He lasted about three days, couldn't take it (it was so gross) and quit.
Copper thieves have already been there from the looks of it. That 'snake pit' is probably leftover sleeves from very thick wiring, the stuff is all over the ground near electrical panels and such. Copper theft is a big thing is Europe and some thieves take great risks (cut live wires from railroads etc)
The small fire pit also appears to have been from copper thieves, they burn the sleevers off of the cable (There is alot of burnt cable sleeve and other crap in that area)
Dj Djero fun fact: the german railway uses its fibre cables (which run along side of the rails) to detect theft. By looking at the way the light in those fibres gets reflected back into the transmitter they can even pinpoint the location to 10m accuracy. If the system determains the source of those reflections to be thieves then an automated theft prevention system calls the local police instantly.
The massive pots are called ladles they go under the furnace once the impurities (slag) is dumped out the good liquid steel gets poured into them. They’re layered with brick on the inside so the steel will pour out. I work in a steel mill

this is an absolutely amazing video (part 1 as well)! what fascinates me most about these industrial places is that humans actually were able to construct and plan those complicated buildings, plan them on paper, and actually build them. with so many aspects in mind; planning and building for so many years in advance; and they actually worked and were worked in. It really is mind boggling.

Great explorer. Took a tour of US Steel in the 70's. Walked on catwalks with rolling steel below us. It was hot as hell, dangerous work. All steelworkers should be commended for doing such important but harrowing jobs. Many have died, even in the last year or so. Thank you again for this explore.

One of the most compelling adventure videos I've seen. I particularly like your professional camerawork and narration. You handle the material like pros which makes viewing it very intense. Over the years we produced numerous environmental justice documentaries for broadcast but the equipment has improved since then. We worked with a Canon XL1 which is no longer used for video. Our venue was Cable and Public TV whereas you now have TH-cam. Things have become more compact and accessible which makes documenting the kind of material you do a lot less hassle. 14:10 This is a Basic Oxygen Furnace. These massive vessels are charged with molten iron and occasionally scrap metal, and oxygen is blown in through a long pipe, called a lance, from the top. The oxygen liberates sulfur and other impurities, to make steel.
What a nice video. I am glad you got to tour what seems a large part of the Mill. This makes me think of my home town Pittsburgh and our history of steel mills. My uncle worked at one and I know he had to retire early due to health issues that was caused by his job.

They probably specifically avoid bringing stuff like that because if you ever get caught with that on you you're really fucked as that shows intent to break in or vandalize or whatever.
Thats why if you carry anything questionable on you while trespassing always hide it near your way out unitl you leave for sure. That includes any souvenirs. Dont get caught with it on you. Also have an accomplice on the outside that is a quick phone call away to drive by entrances on the perimeter. If you are suspected of being on the property then security or police will try to wait you out at known entrance points.( Especially at night) they will sit in their car with the lights off until they see movement. I got stuck on a property many years ago all night long. A few off my freinds got impatient and went out the back of the property and were met by a small army of police with patty wagons. They had been waiting us out in their cars.We didn't get caught. We had to bail them out of jail the next day.
This is by far my favorite video and place you guys have visited so far!!! It makes me feel sooooo bad like when I'm playing: Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, Terminator movies in the Future and much more!!! Keep the Amazing work, I'm waiting for your next Adventure!!!
The steel-making process graphics are for plant tourists & visitors. The pots are called vats. The ladle transfers molten steel into molds for ingots or billets. This was a good-paying job for young men who had families to feed

Y'all are some of the dopest explorers I ever watched... Crazy to say the least, but man the edge ofthe seat nail biters are what makes me come back to watch more of y'alls videos. Keep up the fantastic work and ill be buying some gear soon believe that...
Imagine the staggering amount of money it must have cost to build that place. I can't believe they let is stand there rather than dismantle and recycle. The money that could be made from the steel and parts must be astronomical.
The money returned from scrap like that is always not worth the time and effort involved, which is why you will always see the easiest to remove, and most expensive things removed by the owners, and the rest left for thieves working on their own time. If you had free machinery with free servicing plus free power/fuel and free food and drink coupled with free accommodation for your volunteer workforce, then yes you could make money off it.
I was at a foundry auction last year and the lot with all the metal forms and other misc stuff that would end up as scrap sold for over $350k. And the ladles and stuff at the auction I went to look smaller than the ones in this video. I believe it might be worth it but the problem is these sites tend to have a lot of hazards and idk the rules in europe and how they restrict that. The place I went to had enough silica sand to make a small beach. Sad to see that plant close after being there for over 100 years.
That whole place would make the world's greatest game level and story ever.

It makes me feel sooooo bad like when I'm playing:
Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last of Us, Terminator movies in the Future and much more!!!
Keep the Amazing work, I'm waiting for your next Adventure!!!
"Why are there Minions in the steel mill" The Proper People 2k18
I feel sorry for those minions and all the things they had to see happening on the jerk throne
That steel mill was one of the best places you guys have urbexed well done on getting out and not get caught very very lucky
When you see haze at the other end of the building it means it’s the render limit.
This was epic. The sheer size of that place was beyond words.
Jerk Throne... hilarious LOL
The steel-making process graphics are for plant tourists & visitors. The pots are called vats. The ladle transfers molten steel into molds for ingots or billets. This was a good-paying job for young men who had families to feed
No matter where it is, those big empty factories remind me of lots of men being out of work and that always sucks
That place is bigger than any mill I have worked in this really is awesome video thank you for this it is absolutely fantastic keep up the good stuff
Reminds me of Terminator 2 when they are fighting Robert Patrick in the huge steel works. He’s the T1000
yea same
The steele plant that movie was filmed at is still in operation! My husband works there from time to time
Amada That’s awesome! What mill does he work at (if you do not mind me asking)? I live in Northwestern Indiana and there’s a few out here ( East Chicago, Whiting, and Gary) .
Part 2 awesome as part 1 worth the wait. Thanks guys 👍
HI don't remember you showing bathrooms in general, but how far would someone have to go to have a poo starting from the top?
MAAAN!1 I love all y'alls vids..but this one was awesome and very rewarding. I felt like I was there! Thank you so much for sharing this! And thank you for what you do!
They had a crane to fix their crane lol.👍🏁
Y'all are some of the dopest explorers I ever watched... Crazy to say the least, but man the edge ofthe seat nail biters are what makes me come back to watch more of y'alls videos. Keep up the fantastic work and ill be buying some gear soon believe that...
I can't imagine the stress that is building up when you can't find a way out. :o Also: nice pc! :)
The music used is excellent, really sets a mood.
Actually its a issue now cause people sneak in to steal metal and sell it. The site is on watch day and night until upcoming dismantlement.
Officialy, this factory is mothaballed so they can decide to reopen it in case of.... In reality, when you see the damages, it never happend.
Wood 'n' Stuff w/ Steve French just saying if it was Britain the pikeys would have taken it a week after closing.
There's a photograph in every scene! Amazing work guys. Superb channel.
Now imagine if that little exit hole they found wasn't there...
Wow you guys another great adventure you took us on thanks!
