I Unbolted The Steering Column (2 Bolts) To Give More Wiggle Room On The Gauge Bezel & I Replaced ALL The Dash Lights While It Was Out. Easy Life When You Do It Right The 1st Time!!
Awsome video! I've been watching for years. I came here to see what screws hold the center vent housing to the cluster trim. LMC doesn't show them anywhere in their diagrams and they didn't come with the new vent and housing. The guy who previously owned the truck died and I'm trying to finish his frame off resto. Beautiful truck, but what a nightmare. Buckets of bolts, nothing is labeled etc. But I want to thank your camera guy for the close up shot of the screws! I found them in one of the 5 buckets of bolts lol
I had one of these kinds of dashes, and it's a big thick blob of urethane. A good deal heavier than the stock one. It did not look factory. All fine and well for some people who don't mind, but I wanted it to look as close to stock as possible. So you really need a vinyl dash to accomplish this. Your factory dash can be recovered with new vinyl, and it fits easily and will not be difficult to reinstall.
Oh my god that whole table would be a dream kit to have . Not anywhere near in the budget for a single dad of two but I'm gonna dream and drool through this whole vid lol
I'm working on my 1986 Silverado to get it back on the road, I got the engine running but need to work out the bugs on the carburetor. Still need to replace or rebuild a few more stuff on the truck. Dash replacement video was informative, I probably likely replace the dash later on. Keep loading up videos..
All those brand new parts LMC sells and he reinstalled that beautiful new dash and bezel with the 31 year old rusty screws! C'monnn, I'm sure LMC sells that screw kit, right?
This video not only gave me instructions on how to replace my dash but i can buy it from the catalog too!! This is going to make this job super easy! Thanks!
on the head light switch knob removal, if you pull the knob out as if you were turning the head lights on then mash the button down the knob will pull the rest of the way out. don't forget to disconnect the battery or the head lights will be on and run the battery dead.
thanks for this video, I have my dads 82 c10 custom deluxe that he bought new, in beautiful shape but dash is cracked and I have a fabric cover on it, but now I will plan to replace the dash this coming summer , looks easy, thanks
Gees! Id like for him to do my 85 gmc window rubber, new felt lining, dash pad and headliner. Makes it look so easy lol Kevin is awesome! Thank you very much for doing these vids. Now, if we could just get these lmc parts in Canada in a timely matter, that would be great!
i ordered a LMC dashboard aka Dash pad. when putting on the bezel i had to cut the bezel from the upper left side. i did my research and i got the correct part, but dash pad is very bad built.
I know you posted this comment 5 years ago. I'm sorry, but I'm about to buy a CUCV next week and will be doing a restoration. It has no AC so it just has the solid silver trim with no vents, but I cannot find a full sized dashboard replacement without AC anywhere. Can you just put the silver trim over the AC holes?
awesome! huge help Kev! restoring my Gramps 1988 GMC 7000 series TopKick 10 wheeler dump truck. Same cab. bought all my stuff at LMC from carpet to window seal kits and all interior trim pcs. Cant wait to finish it! thank you
You were correct with the way you replaced your headlight switch as shown. You would not be able to remove the screws that hold the air duct in place with the bezel on because it covers them up.
i have a problem with the upper right hand vent, the adaptor on the rear of the vent hits the dash cover making if impossible to remove without lifting the dash cover up, i recently had a radio installed ( due to my bad back ) and he broke off the fan switch. since he did such a poor job of it I had to fix his mess and ran into that vent problem. I watched your video and if went as somth as silk., so much for Murphy's law.

There isn't a definitive year that is 100% the start date, but metric fasteners started to appear on GM trucks in 1979. GM continued to use SAE and Metric thru the late 80's.
Thanks for making this video .I'm in Canada and I bought most of the stuff That I need for my '87 Chev 1/2t 4x4 but didn't quite know what to do about the dash, now I do . Now if you only could do something about those vent windows??

Hey all installing one of these dashes over the past couple of days and it simply won’t fit! The right hand side clip area is made high pushing the dash up in the air between the right side defrost vent ant speaker. This is preventing the dash from going all the way back and making it looked warped. I’ve contacted LMC but awaiting a quality control person to respond.
They do not have everything you can ask for. I’m looking for a bezel and dash for a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500. They do not carry it. They don’t even carry the bed caps for the step side bed. I don’t understand. They have parts for a 1987 truck, but not for a 2001. Please explain and please guide me in the direction where I can buy one.
The dash is pretty good quality. For the money you're paying for it it should already be trimmed. If you're thinking about getting door panels from LMC don't. They are trash. Go somewhere else for those.
no sir, that is just how the trucks are made from interior. i am 14 and drive a 82 c10 chevy truck. ive been working on rebuild and i discovered that too then i called lmc and they said is wasnt a mistake thats how it is ment to fit.
I have an 85 C10. If I purchase the dash bezel along with the aluminum face, how does that attach to the dash bezel? Is it glued on or does it come with 3m tape? Thanks

Would be cool if you guys did an end screen listing all the screws and spring tabs that would be needed to do a complete install with new parts.

Do what I do. Buy a thing every once in a while till you have all you need.

I've been trying to find door bezels for my 1992 s10. They are not in the catalog so not all parts are available.
