One of the funniest thing I've ever experienced since I've started making music videos. I've always been in love with harmony, especially vocal harmony so when I first heard the song it was straight love.
Performing a female choir song was quite challenging, so I had to sing it a whole tone below at 432 hz tuning, just for fun :).
I find the modulation part (when the 4 stompers come out) so crazy!!! It sounds more like an African song hahaha
Hope you enjoy
Translation:
A kaval is playing, mother,
up, down, mother, up, down, mother.
A kaval is playing mother,
up, down, mother, near the village.
I will go, mother, to see it,
to see it, mother, to hear it.
If it's someone from our village
I'll love him only for a short time,
If it's a foreigner (i.e. from another village)
I'll love him all my life.

What is the time signature of this song?!?!? How do you count it?!?!
*OHHHHH WOW!!!! This is the best version of Kaval Sviri I have EVER heard.* 👏 Bravissimo!!
👍😊👍
Loved your version of Kaval Sviri🤩🤩🤩 I loved this song when i first heard on Xena

I first visited Bulgaria when I was about 7 in the 60’s and loved the folk songs and dances… something mesmerising about the harmonies. You gave an amazing rendition of this folk song… it took me right back there all those years ago!! Brilliant!!
As a musician and a Bulgarian one, I'm telling you this is world class. Absolutely stunning
Wow nice to meet a Bulgarian musician! That's very kind of you, thankyou so much! ❤
Balkans never stops surprising with its music (and other stuff as well), and Bulgarian folk music is one of the best. Greetings from Albania.
Absolutely agree. Greetings from Italy :)
@@lucapizzetti5717 I was very surprized that an Italian was singing the Bulgarian folk. Bulgarian is not an easy language, plus the voices in Bulgarian folk music do not follow the music charts... LOL
You could try Albanian chants; there are some beautiful folk songs, very old from north and from south Albania. The north ones are just crazy, out of this world... probably they come from a time that there were no instruments - they are sang "a-cappella" - locals call that kind of chants "kange-maye-krahu" meaning you lift your arm, and put your hand around your mouth as if a bullhorn, or a megaphone. Exotic, even for me as an Albanian. Ancora una volta, i migliori auguri. Vieni a visitare l'Albania la prossima estate. È un'esperienza abbastanza diversa e spettacolare..
@@HK-pp9ig Interessante.
@@salvatoredistefano6256 Grazie. Visiting Albania for tourism or just the beach is nothing compared to what a western European (inclusing Italians) could find hidden in the highlands. My family comes from middle Albania, I have traveled a little around, but I know I have seen less then 10%. The best way to really explore is to go deep into the remote areas and live a few days with the locals. Many customs there are untouched, unchaged for centuries; some of the customs are so Medieval, the blood feuds there are incomprehensible even for me as an Albanian; the rituals from birth to death, marriage arraingments (although most youngsters nowadays fall in love and merry as most other Europeans) but you can find remnants of old customs of arranged marriages set by the parents, the entire process is as if it follows an unwritten script. many folk songs still bring to life those rituals and courting; people there swear by God, but you can find people swearing as solemny to the rock, trees or water, or sun and moon. Some of the ritual dances are mesmerizing; and the folk music is unique, but you also can find Greek, Bulgarian and Levante influences; as small as the country is, each smaller region has its own distinctive folk music. Some of the music is so Medieval, I was attending a Medieval festival in the rural Penssylvania (USA) last summer and was surprized that one of the Medieval-theme bands played two Albanian folk songs in their program... well they called them Medieval, but you could hear those songs at most of the Albanian weddings. I knew the tunes, so I did some search, and found out that not only the USA bands, but some European (German, Danish) bands were playing in Germany, Switzerland, and even in Italy (Turin, Milan) some of these old Medieval songs... well you call them Medieval, Albanians still play them in their modern weddings today. Welcoming people, and great food; vacationing in Albania is like three times cheaper than in the USA; my kids loved the food there and the beach, and the landscape. I'd love to find a local old-fashion wedding for my kids to attend. Greetings.

This is CRIMINALLY under rated
Hahaha you're too kind!
Check your family tree, bro! You have some Bulgarian blood in your veins!!!!! Respect!!!! Amazing job, amazing!!!!
While listening to this amazing performance I was wondering:”why this man is not famous?” “Who is he?” Then at the very end I noticed his almost undetectable foreign accent and was gobsmacked and moved to tears! Beautiful!
This deserves more recognition!!!!! This is so awesome oh my god. Way better than i expected it to be
Wow man than you so much!!! ❤❤
I thing the original deserves more recognition!!!
Those harmonies give me goosebumps. Absolutely amazing.
This is a great presentation of a great folk song that I only recently discovered. There is so much great music around the world that most of us will never hear.
Totally agree with you!
Awesome! Greetings from Bulgaria!
Really enjoyed that!
Thankyou so much!
AWESOME, man! I've been totally digging on the Bulgarian choir for about 2 months. Just playing it over and over. You really brought a cool new light on this piece. Love the modulation and percussion interpretation. You the man, Luca.
You and me both.
Wow Ralph this is so nice of you. yes, I felt like it was missing something, so I added my personal touch. Yet the original version still gives me the goose bumps every time
Try out Serbian choir songs too, mainly from South or inspired by southern parts.
The artistry here is unbelievable.
It was pure fun ❤
Amazing! It's very inspiring to hear a man sing a traditional female singing style. Makes me believe that I can try out similar songs too :)
Do it my friend :) you can! You must!
Thank you for this very well made arrangement ! The choir version is amazing and what you did of it is really top notched with nice personal touches. I love the percussions you made as well as the dynamic variations and the rubato/speed variations. Very well balanced and well thought. Really awesome !
Oh man reading your analysis is so so cool... I'm glad this has reached great musicians too. Thank you so much!
And l thought l will never find music any more which cause me goosebumps. I was wrong! Incredible! Thanks from Hungary!
your words gave me goosebumps too 💫💫💫
Well done, very good performance! Greetings from Bulgaria!
It's amazing that this has travelled so far away... Thank you so much! ❤
Rollercoaster of emotion! I got goosebumps, bobbed my head and cried. WOW! JUST WOW!
You pronounced all the words correctly, nicely done. It's a very cool reimagining and interesting new harmonies and themes that you introduced. Of course it doesn't sound Bulgarian anymore, but it's a cool rendition nevertheless, good work.
you are so right, it doesn't sound Bulgarian anymore... but all this was just for pure fun and have a laugh basically... so thank you so much for your words :D
@@lucapizzetti5717 You did a great job, you're allowed to reimagine it. I've listened to it 20 times already.
Such rhythm, such musicality... The intonation is really nice, not sure if people that are not born and raised in balkans can feel this, but i certainly can feel this song in my soul.
Props to you Luca, and thank you for this masterpiece interpretation.
I‘m from Germany and I heavily vibe with this. I think this is universal!
Thank pitch correction for the 'intonation' 😌
Amazing great job
Wow, you nailed it down perfectly! Great job! You really enriched the harmonics beyond the contemporary Bulgarian way of performing this pieces, combined with such sweet rhythmic arrangement. Beautiful! Please keep going! Will love to see more of these !
Absolutely delightful! Keep on dancing with yourSelf, brother! 💖🙏💖
Sure thing! Thankyou so much! :)

Merci à vous également !

Luca, you interpreted a complex Bulgarian song in the most incredible way. You made it sound different and very modern! Bravo again!
This dude is outrageous! As a Bulgarian I'll shake your hand and hug you if i ever met you! Deep respect!
I'll hug you too my friend ❤
Ran across Kaval Sviri a few weeks ago, and this is my new favorite rendition. The percussion elements you added are new, but I think they fit really well, and add more depth to the piece!
Thank you Corey ;D
December 2023 and easily the best TH-cam vid of the Year from anyone as far as I'm concerned. Stunning, just beautiful. Boundless talent, thanks so much for all your hard work making this work of art.
Easily the best youtube comment of the year from anyone as far as I'm concerned. I really appreciated it :D
Best thing i've watched in 2023 wow. Bravo!
Really appreciate the compliment :) thanks a lot

I loved when you made it a round at 1:12. As captivating as this piece is on its own, that trailing voice instantly made it feel less spectacle and more participatory, if that makes sense. Maybe it just took me back to choir practice from my old school days, but for whatever reason, that made it seem more personal. I'm always engrossed with this song, but that feeling of direct involvement is what I enjoyed most about this interpretation/arrangement.
Great performance!
Thankyou ✌😃
Madonna che spettacolo! Bravissimo, complimenti!!
Haha grazie!!!!

Yikes. That was absolutely knock your socks off, beautiful. I've got chills. ❤
This is now my favorite rendition of Kaval Sviri. This man just brought up to a whole new level

More of that - This is absolutly unique! I admire the bulgarien voices for such a long time, but you brought the missing peace: The male Voice!
Please more of that!
Will do for sure. Thank you so much❤
Assolutamente stupendo, bravissimo✨
❤
I am beyond impressed! How does one person create sometjing like this? The second quarter is probably one of the coolest harmonical things I've ever heard
Sounds really good. You have done what few do- instead of repeating an arrangement that's been heard many times before you took it up a notch with your own touch and interpretation. Until someone ups you on this one you are at the top.
And I have to say the same thing for your words. I really appreciate. Thank you infinitely! I actually had a lot of fun doing it, not thinking too much whether it was appropriate or not for this particular song. Have a good time :)
Awesome! Bulgarian folklore music is Unique!❤️
Agree, pure magic
@lucapizzetti5717 and your performance is amazing❤ btw one Bulgarian conductor posted your performance

Brilliant arrangement and magnificent performance! Bravo, Mr. Pizzetti! 😄

Incredible performance and choice of song! Thank you!
Ein wahres Meisterstück!
This is supreme! For those of us music nerds who have loved this song for decades this is a life goal to cover this. I’ve always dreamed of doing it and you did it!
Hi Charlie! I can't wait to hear your own version! ❤❤❤
Bravo!

OUTSTANDING performance! Absolutely outstanding!

❤ you're too kind! Hope I can do another one soon, it made me smile too :)
Dude i can’t believe how good this sounds
I was surprised to hear the word 'yabangee' which is a Turkish word (yabancı) - foreigner in English. It always reminds me how closely our cultures and languages exchanged with each other.
❤❤
it’s true… 500 years slavery under the Ottoman Empire did lead to a lot of loan words from Turkish, Arab and Farsi
Your skill is immaculate. You nailed the harmonies! Love this video so much!
❤ thank you!!!!
Insane. Deserves thousands more views, best wishes from Toronto! 🤝
Wow Toronto! Thankyou sooo much
Hi there.. Un très joli travail .. réalisation . écritures .. choix de pièce.. Tu atteins une belle extase.. Cette zone si rare.. BRAVO..

I must say, god damn kicking rhythmic and harmonic ass. Bravo!
Cheeeeeers hahaha ❤
Absolutely fabulous, and I love the innovation on the tune at the end
Thankyou ❤❤❤
@@lucapizzetti5717 do you have any other a cappella pieces available online?
Bulgarian choir music is one of my favorite things ever. So glad this got recommended! AMAZING job!
Out of curiosity, is there any specific part of singing in this way that you found particularily different or maybe challenging, compared to more "common" singing?
Ti faccio i miei complimenti. Hai fatto un lavoro STRAORDINARIO.
Bravo!

Bravo. Perfect.
One of the best rendition of Bulgarian folk music i have ever heard! I appreciate your technique and musicality, and you introduce some almost new things - man's singing ( not typical for our folklore) and contemporary rhythm ( which turns the piece to modern, vivid, lovely sound). Fantastic! Bravissimo!
Unsurpassable. Great music, joy and peace. Will share it.
Thank you sooo much
This piece is the opener of 1987 CD "Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares", sung by Ensemble Trakia from Plovdiv. To me as a choral singer in a German chamber choir this style of singing and composition was absolutely new back then and I was totally stunned. I've heard the CD over and over again and it still gives me shivers.
Thank you so much for this brilliant new interpretation, this is really awesome!
You're so kind ❤

I went in skeptical, but I love LOVE your arrangement on this, it's a beautiful take, and a good idea to change it up. If you were to just try the same old arrantements we've seen traditional choirs do, it'd just be another drop in the bucket, but this is a fantastic take on a folk classic. Great job!
