Oh I can agree that television pretty much writes your script after about the 2nd season, or sooner-all I was saying was that this guy is single handedly more entertaining than the whole Pawn Stars crew and whatever other “reality” shows they out on.
I’m not at all knocking him for not being on tv, for all I know is DC might have already approached him and he turned it down.

Tips for cutting down huge trees:
    1) Have at least 50 axes

I can tell from my own experience just by listening to the sound of the bite that this is some REALLY hard wood (usually the higher the pitch the striking sound makes = the harder the wood). The toughest stuff I've ever tried to chop and bust for firewood was Curly Maple; it took a 5 lbs splitting maul and a 15 lbs sledge just to get it to bite. Then four iron wedges. THAT'S FOR ONE SPLIT.
I don't miss that wood, that's for sure.

Karan Guragain Let’s agree to disagree. If most people are too poor to afford chainsaws, then you can’t say you’re doing it to honor tradition. You are doing it by hand because you have no other choice. Now if you all had power saws and STILL chose to do it manually with an axe, then you could claim tradition.
Here’s the messed thing about living in modern America: a decent axe costs literally the same money as a good hike quality saw. Ridiculous in my opinion.

I remember back in the day when I was going to chop down an 18 inch red oak. Got through the sap wood like a boss. Hit the heart wood and it was like hitting iron. I gave up after an hour of swinging. I was 14.

Thank you. Im NZ city man , in my 20s, and when i was a lad i did all the wood and kindling prep for our fire, at home after school.
I didnt realize it until recently, that chopping/splitting is something that brings me much peace and joy. Im not a big guy, medium tall and lean, not your stereotypical axe wielder hahaa
Anyways, i enjoyed this video very much and your clear passion and knowledge about axes brings a smile to me, as it reminds me how much i enjow wielding an axe myself!, how kathartic!
    Cheers Cobba
P.s. the periodic thoughtful notes on the screen throughout the video are a welcome touch!

I came here for the chopping sound, but found this very wholesome: educational , gentle and nice axes too. You really love what you're doin. Appreciate it
