As a black woman, i just had a black brother in Christ tell me I was acting like a white woman when I gently referred him to filter feelings, thoughts, and experiences through the word of God. It was very hurtful.
Dont be hurt be responded thru his filter. Not all people are in the same place or space of level of understanding. Life gets easier when you realize this, when dealing w people if other races and if the same skin color
@jenniferh.7219 i just have a hard time through all this race stuff. T feels so odd to me to. I don't understand why his comments were so hurtful/confusing to me. I don't place my identity in my blackness. It's a part of me, and I get it, but i really don't view things through a "black" worldview. I accept that this world is broken and as they said in the video, this world isn't our home.
@Bunfire123 no, i mentioned and acknowledged experience. Even those have to be filtered. i don't get it. I'm a black woman, is it appropriate to tell me I'm acting white.
@@gracelynmarie2608 your conclusions are true. If you were to look at the human side you would want to know what was said that is interpreted as different and why. Or alternatively, your view may be different than some black people but not all. Ie someone could have grown up in the suburbs versus a different urban environment - and thus blacks of these areas may have different world views on certain aspects. Finally what I was getting at is that it appears you lend a thread of kinship by race an assumption of kinship shared identity/ similar worldview and as you get older even into 30s & 40s you will typically find same "skin color" doesn't equate to similar thinking worldview etc so I was getting at the point that you may have an underlying assumption, intrinsic assumption that there is a form of kinship by there when on different levels there's is not. Even when children grow up there is a term called differentiation. Differentiation from their parents etc. so unless you want to inquire from those present to find out what particular comment might be viewed differently, it is also safe to assume in life skinship does not equate kinship. Each person is a differentiated individual. It will likely be easier for you to move about in life with this awareness, with the exception of if you are in a particular job or position that requires a set of skills related to the kinship such as NAACP chapter leader, etc. I suppose there is a thread there where one could be a leader of an all black or mostly black church study or fellowship group. Anyway the point is we're all individuals from various backgrounds and experiences don't assume underlying fellowship - if it happens great but don't assume and bet or unconsciously rely on it. Lastly, filtering feelings thoughts & actiona through the word of God is not - anti black. It's well studied like the bereans in actually practicing and applying your Bible.
Some people like to say race doesn't matter but it has been shown that the image of Jesus has been made white (skin tone, hair texture color, eye color). Versus leaving the image more like th description of the bible. There are other issues to. I think that the differences between white biblical theology and non-white biblical theology is very interesting and I will personally seek to explore more bc coming from the US you typically only see certain types of theology or religion televised. I like to explore the differences, this podcast is a good start. Also for transparency I believe that all churches should update their image of Jesus incl Catholic Churches etc to match the Bible's description. I personally believe the altering of his image has more to do with certain people worshipping themselves ie let's edify ourselves, make God in our image by the contrast of race would be too or so psychologically drawing or at least a source elucidating dissonance. And as opposed to making this topic lite or trite, some of it has to do with bias and prejudice which Jesus & God does not condone. Race does matter - I don't even have to get into politics - so obvious there even presently
Race is actually rooted in physical anthropology , anthropometry , phenotype & morphology . So it’s not that race comes from nothing and human populations can be distinguished from physical anthropological methods . This doesn’t mean race is a biological reality
Ekemini Uwan highlights a deep cultural divide that has become more apparent, particularly with the rise of Trumpism. She argues for the importance of respecting those who have undergone rigorous academic training, while pointing out that a significant portion of society devalues this expertise. Many in this group adopt an attitude of, "I know it all, and I can leave the rest to Jesus" (or their chosen deity), which reflects a growing skepticism toward intellectualism. This tension between valuing formal education and relying on personal or religious beliefs has become a prominent source of friction in recent years. So my question, if I may, how do we bridge this divide. Certainly rational people can see value in both mindsets.
How about we start by highlighting the areas in which they don't contradict. Two things can be true, as long as they don't contradict. If both reflect humans and their capacity to define existence....then there are probably more spaces where these things merge rather than separate. An intellectual religious scholar, who can't...or won't discredit any formality of high education in relation to theory, is a person who seeks common ground. We are here, and there is no intention to cause conflict. Like she said...there is a balance!!
@@ssmith4614 I'm going to agree. The hard work will be in finding those areas where both mindsets don't contradict and I'll be the first to admit that I don't know what those areas are. I am not a Biblical Scholar, but rather someone interested in improving the human condition. I'm all ears.
I would say make sure everything lands on the bible. Alot of conversations I've had, people will go with feelings and experience. Our feelings and experiences will have us following false doctrines. Ask EVE, she followed her feelings and look where we are. We have to stand on God's word. Period.
@@zeroch1ll150 See here is an example of an issue that could arise from that....The Koran is known as God's word..so is the Torah. A religious scholar tends to be versed in all. Is the Bible the only word of God? Me personally, I've studied all three and I've connected some dots that I would not have if I only read and recited the Bible...does that make me less Christian? Should I ignore how God's word was misconstrued and used to enslave people? I question man, not God! A Good Muslim is a friend of a Good Christian and vice versa, same with the Jewish faith. If my feelings and experiences align with the word of God in all three texts, then what does that mean? I'm not sure man can answer these questions.
@@ssmith4614 this would be a deep long convo. I've studied Islam also. Being that you studied it you should know that the Quran contradicts both the torah and the bible. The hadiths make the case for Islam even worse. Being a Christian means you follow christ and what he said. Also in Islam a true Muslim cannot be friends with you. I know alot of Muslims don't adhere to that. Islam itself contradicts Christianity. I'm not speaking about the individual Muslims. I'm speaking on the religion itself. Like I said this would be a long convo. Not suitable for a TH-cam comment section. Take care friend. Let God be true and every man a liar.
Topics like this can make for interesting conversations, but we have to be careful about them. Remember brother Paul's warning to the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 1:10 - 17 IJS we're all brothers and sisters in Christ and we gotta be careful to not allow our racial/cultural/sexist divisions become a distraction to the gospel. Those are the things of earthly kingdoms. We have to keep the focus on the Kingdom of God.
I believe this elucidates the point that certain world views are disseminated, promulgated while others are not even out there / disseminated as much to be explored. For example I'm keenly aware of this when watching television, as I consistently believe there are other aspects of worldviews that are not explained and even included as a part of analysis or perspective exploration
Church attendance is down. I will never go back. I know that my spiritual experience has transported me way past thinking God is some guy sitting on a cloud granting wishes. I'm hoping spirituality spreads. Religion and the Christian faith is akin to the knowledge you have when you are in kindergarten.
@@Dizzeeyout yes I have. If it's organized religion, I have no interest. It's like when Toto pulls back the curtain to expose the Wizard as a simple man. Why on earth would Dorothy continue to buy into the charade. The Bible is best interpreted as an analogy, and not as fact. If religion was so integral in our life, then I would think that there would be one denomination. Instead, people have "tailored" their beliefs and sectioned them off into categories, ie, Jewish, Lutheran, Catholic, Jehovahs Witness, Baptist, etc. Something that is supposed to govern our very existence should be one clear and concise belief. It is for me. The Creator is within us all. It's human nature to create a facade in order to control others, and make money off of it as well. They will package death as something you have to aquire and attain, when death will assuredly come to all of us. I think this is why Jesus was truly angry, throwing tables over at a synogogue. He was witnessing the monetization of spirit, which is not something anyone can sell to anyone. Your spirit is YOURS. No amount of money dropped into a collection plate is going to buy me eternal happiness. Each and every one of us already has this in our life path.
It’s going back up. Especially amoung Gen Z young men. The church offers them the ability to control again through their masculinity. Certain demographics of women will absolutely follow the Gen Z men.
I really need help I have been asking anyone I can find online plus took a class from Israel. What is a Christian and where do they come from? What is Christianity and where did it come from? Christianity is not even in the Bible so it did not come out of Yeshua God's mouth, which makes it filthy rags. Yeshua God has never called anyone to become a Christian, and I would say Yeshua does not know what that is. Bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord God Yeshua. Thank you for all your help according to scripture, not man-made, please!
Keeping it basic, Yahusha and his disciples spoke Hebrew. Christian comes from a Greek word. Hebrew speaking people didn’t walk around calling themselves Greek words. Translators take creative freedom in translating. Those who believe in Messiah are disciples or followers of The Way
