What do these three radios have in common?

What do these three radios have in common? Spoiler alert, I used them all the day before while hosting a small cookout. But what do we mean when we say "radio"? How do we use radio today? How do we listen to music?

Interesting chat, thanks. I am going to build myself an internet radio, using an ESP32, a decoder and a screen. Buying a ready-made one is way outside my budget, unfortunately, as a poor, old, retired guy. But ten bucks i can just do. I do love radio, though, having grown up when that's all we had. I can't stand adverts, though. But i love electronics as a hobby, and Arduino's, etc.

Hey! Thanks for watching! Building your own internet radio is WAY above my skill level! Internet radio is an interesting beast all of it's own. On the one hand I think you can access those channels either from a smart device, but the issue you have to know WHAT to ask for. Or you can add an app to your phone (something I may try in the future to see what it's all about) but dedicated internet radios I think make it easier to "dial in" (pun intended) the content you're looking for! You'll have to let me know how you make out!

NPR hasn't been worth listening to since Paul Harvey retired. Once Rush Limbaugh (EIV Network) went to FM I never had anything to listen to on AM.

I miss "The Rest of the Story"! But I appreciate my local NPR stations, which I listen to on FM. There is a local AM station that I use to listen to regularly but it's now hit or miss. Can AM remain relevant (if it still is) is I think a huge question and a huge challenge.

@@robcat2075 Well your right he was under contract with ABC. In the two markets I listened to him in his show was carried on the station that also broadcast NPR, so I mistakenly associated him with NPR.
