Was that diss track really that bad? The things Cube said aren’t the sort of things that anyone would actually get salty over. It’s not like Cube attacked their families or said anything personal or utterly scandalous. In hindsight, “No Vaseline” was actually humorous. I think Eazy and the rest of NWA simply blew it off.
@@westyravizyeah everyone likes to overhype no vasoline but fail to see why it was so impactful it was cube talking about them getting pimped for their money by eazy and heller which is what cause dre to leave and what made mc ren to kind of fall out with eazy like knocc out said he never seen ren around ruthless records
That diss is hella over hyped especially by cube the fact that he's hyping up the song like it destroyed their careers no it changed them also eazy definitely wasnt bothered by no vasoline coz he was laughing in the studio with yella about it talking about how ice cube isn't as tough as he portrays and laughing about how he got beat up by above the law (a ruthless records group)

Boyz in the hood in 85.. that makes sense because I remember it was underground for a couple years before it blew up..we would hear it at the roadium every weekend
No, boys in the hood came out in 1987, anyone with a good memory who was alive back then and into hip hop remembers this, also anyone with the original record knows this since all records have the year of release on them. A lot of times rappers are off by a couple of years when remembering their old music, I see it all the time in interviews.
Nah it came out in 1987, “Boyz in the Hood” was inspired by “6 in the mornin” by Ice T which came out in 1986 which itself was inspired by “P.S.K what does it mean?” by Schoolly D which came out in 1985
I'm glad they broke up as amazing as Straight Outta Compton was. I can't picture a political masterpiece like Death Certificate coming from NWA for example. Cube became a better and more creative rapper going solo. Then Cube leaving forced Dre to take a starring role on the mic in NWA. Dre used to say he didn't like the way he sounded on the mic and if Cube had stayed Dre would have probably remained the fourth rapper in NWA, only rocking the mic a few times per album. Definitely would have never gotten The Chronic if Dre stuck mostly to producing like he did before 100 Miles & Running. Eazy definitely suffered without Cube writing his rhymes, but still put out a few great songs. I stopped liking Ren's flow once he got fat and it completely changed his voice and I think he would have dragged NWA down. Sad because Ren was my second favorite MC on Straight Outta Compton (only behind Cube).
The fact that eazy, cube and dre unable to reunite for one last time is what makes me shed tears when watching straight outta compton. For ppl who have little to no knowledge about nwa history, the movie is just about friendship
