God bless you bud I started fishing again last month and I found you on TH-cam God connect! I enjoy your vids and I’m a say you as of now are my mentor. God bless you and your family always!
Me too!! I'm not religious, but Tyler has been a Godsend. My pops never showed me how and I always wanted to fish but never had the access. I've caught more fish in a month than I have in my life! Fish on. Keep it up!!
I don’t know if I’ve ever commented on a video before… if I have it’s been YEARS. I found your channel about two weeks ago and was drawn to your personality, video layouts, quality, and knowledge. A big thank you for the content you make, but the reason for my comment is to say as a brother in Christ I’m thankful you’re using your platform to share the gospel. Not only can we me avid fisherman, but the Bible calls us to be fishers of men. Thank you for being unashamed. The Robertson clan would be proud of you @duckdynasty Keep up the great work!
@@TylersReelFishing i use braid as mainline, would a 3 foot leader of fluoro be enough when they are pressured or should i just go full fluoro, i don't know if they'll get scared off by seeing the braid even if the fluoro leader is light.
@@TylersReelFishing as they wear down or dragged over a lot over cover, they will slide some but toward hook some just repinch them move the back and some times you can use them all day or change they out if they shift back away from hook or your in different cover shorten the leader back down toward bait to quick set hook.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge about this type of setup. That’s why I really appreciate your video content I’ve learned more from your content than any other resource! I can’t wait to add this to my fishing routine and start using it. Thank you as always for sharing your faith take care and God bless you!!!❤
I've tried Carolina rigs. Sadly kept breaking on rock and brush and whatever else on the river bed. The next best thing I did was I got a 7 to 12 inch leader with a size 1 baitholder hook. I tied line to leader with the surgeon knot on the leader then put a moderate size split shot. Sometimes a smaller 1 that way its easier to pop free. I caught tons of fish with almost no hardware at all. Just the leader with the hook, the split shot weight and soft plastics with trophy bass by procure and that's it. 👌 😊
I've tried this rig using a slider weight instead of a bullet which is pretty much the exact same thing except the slider weight being thinner comes through cover a little better. It's called the mojo rig. I definitely got bites, however, after a while it seemed I wasn't getting as many as with a traditional t-rig and thus I started thinking about exactly what the bait was doing and viewed it in shallow water. When you're moving it your line is tight to the bait (of course) but when you stop moving it the weight stops immediately in its tracks and the bait moves towards the weight creating slack line. The faster or harder you move the rig and the more the bait is floating off bottom the more slackline thus if a fish hits it, you can't detect the bite by feel or line movement. I'm pretty sure this along with the awkward cast are precisely why you never really hear or see anyone using a carolina or similar rig.
@tylersreelfishing just found your channel a few days ago. Man I really appreciate your channel, I’ve fished my whole life, but honestly never had any in-depth teaching, just kinda figured stuff out on my own. Really learning alot and ready to try new techniques I’ve never been comfortable trying! Also, encouraged to see another believer making good content! All things to the glory of God my brother! Also curious to what area of Texas your in. I’m in North Central La, let me know if you ever fish Caney, love to buy you a burger and meet ya! God bless!
I love watching your videos and have learned more than I can say from you. I really appreciate all the work you do. I have a video request. Almost every video I see from other channels, and yours somewhat, can be a little discouraging. I get discouraged because I am always constantly catching weeds, getting my lures stuck, mis-casting. Am I really that bad of a fisherman or does this happen to even experts? If I am that bad, I accept that. Sometimes though, I wonder if even experts make mistakes like me.
I was doing research on Carolina rig components then I get the notification that you uploaded a masterclass on it. If that’s not s sign I don’t know what is
Awesome that you spread God's word on here Tyler! Great content to teach an old city boy like myself so I can get some fish on my kids hook :) Thank you!
I can say without a doubt I've caught more fish on a Carolina rig along with big fish then most other techniques combined. It's the 1st thing I learned to fish on Toledo Bend and been throwing one on every body of water since. I've tried those Carolina keepers and I hate them... Plus if you look at any of the pro to amateur anglers that throw a c-rig on a regular basis I promise you won't ever see them with a Carolina keeper on their line it's just a lazy way out of tying one up.
Didn't know they still made the Lizard!! * someone bring back the 3/1/2 inch ringworm!! the new Tungsten Worm and Carolina weights are not cheap* but if they create a better clicking sound on small rock piles * I'll live with it!
Carolina keepers came out in the mid 90's. Problem is you can't use a lighter leader line. I disagree about keeping the bait on or near the bottom. I like to have 6 or 7 foot monoleaders and a floating bait to get above the grass. FYI... Fluorocarbon stretches as much as mono or just barley less. Hank Parker has an excellent video on carolina rigs
I always had a problem with a carolina rig, meaning I never understood the difference in technique between fishing with that, and a drop shot. My thinking was they are basically the same thing, just a drop shot soft plastic would take a second longer to fall since the weight is after the hook. Thank you for showing me the correct way to retrieve a carolina rig. I was always pulling up, as opposed to side retrieve, resulting in no fish. Jesus is Lord.
They absolutely are not the same thing, nor do they act the same in the water. A C-Rig goes weight then bait, a drop shot goes bait then weight. Watch my drop shot masterclass to really learn about that one. Very different applications for both
Quick question bro. Are creature baits considered finesse rig? I know you've mentioned wacky rig and ned rig but what other lures are considered finesse?
I don’t see what’s wrong with the classic Carolina rig with sinker, bead and swivel. I’ve used it for 40 years and it works. Carolina and Texas rig are pretty much all I do, and I always put fish my partners.
Nothing wrong with it. The keeper is just easier because you quickly adjust your leader length. I personally don't use them because I find too much grass starts to push the keeper down towards the hook after a while.
I’m going to simplify one step further, you only need a hook with your plastic of choice and a weight of your choice. Everything else is if you want to be more fancy. Set the weight at the desired length and tie your hook. Donzo.
I'd love to ask you a question on your faith and fishing, how to keep fishing in it's place and not let it to get in the place in our heart which belongs to the Lord. How to not let it become an idol?

elaztec plastic on c rig is valuable option since it floats lead weights on rock since weight is softer will help reduce snagging great video
You don’t feel NEARLY as well with lead though. Important to know when you’re in the strike zone

I was a Carolina rig for redfish except I use live bait and I don’t move it
Nice
Thx
Of course!
A baitcaster is my nemesis. The last time I tried to use one, a bird landed in it and started to lay eggs. So I'm stuck with a open face reel.

Yo tyler- is this only good for clear water? here in central N.C. the lake water is always muddy, would this method still work ?
Still works, just slightly worse
love it. shamelessly spreading the gospel = well-deserved subscriber
No joke I caught my pb largemouth with a mini trick worm texas rigged and a drop shot weight a foot up the line
I believe it!
So if we used 2-3 bobber stoppers it’ll fix the problem you said that the keepers fix as well right?
Yes, but they’ve gotta be tight stoppers
In rivers, should I opened the bail and let the sinker go downstream?
Ehh, can be risky depending on what’s down there
