How to make BLOCKS with PULLEY in scale for Ship Modelling

- Since the Dorade scale is pretty pretty big, I've decided to use another way for making blocks. A more realistic way, any ship model builder should know. Basically in my other video on blocks (find the link in the description below) I simulated the pulley, which is fine for small scale models. In this case I decided to insert a small pulley in the block.
In this case you'll notice I also added a squared piece of wood for the walnut block or I just carved for the pear wood at the end of the video. That's used as a regular shackle connection.
💡 If you don't own a milling machine just glue three stripes of wood together to make a U shaped profile.
💡 You can glue the wood strips before cutting them into blocks (see 03:53)

Clearly, the shackle connection is intended for modern or contemporary models, if you're building an antique model ship, such as the HMS Victory, the La Belle or the HMS Pegasus it's even easier, just use a smaller piece of wood like a did with the walnut wood.

Thanks for sharing I am starting to build this same model and it is really helpful, I want to make it RC, too beautiful model to be just static
Hi @Aeric! Indeed it can be a great RC model! You can have a look at my Fifie playlist, you might find some useful content to make it RC
For larger scale, this is definitely the best way to go. Very nice work.
Thank you :)
Great directions thank you! have you a video on lashing the yardarms to the mast ? pls
A new video on that is coming soon. In the meantime you can check out this old video of mine:

Utile, ma come le fai le ruote delle puleggie?
Ciao @milko minuzzo le carrucole le puoi fare facilmente utilizzando un tornio con un tondino di tiglio o di ottone. Oppure le puoi acquistare da Amati al link che ti metto qui sotto o da altri negozi fisici o online. Le mie sono uscite nel kit del Dorade che sto costruendo =)
