    Tell me Olha, is it walnut wood that bends so easily without breaking? Awesome!
    Thanks for the video.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes, I always get questions from beginners about tools, glue and wood stains. Therefore, I will make a series of videos specifically on these issues - this is the third! The next one will probably be a video about glues ...
      Yes, it really is walnut wood - I love it very much for this plasticity. For example, with a pear this will not work - first it should be bent slowly (more wet and well warmed wood), and second the radius should be three times beeger. This wood is very easy to prick while the hot walnut plank can be tied in a knot without breaking...

    Hello Olha!
    From watching your videos, I have the impression you use your soldering iron most for plank-bending. Is it more useful than the electric and dry plank benders from Amati?

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just bought this electric bender recently and now I'm using it instead of a soldering iron. It is safer to bend - wood does not burn. But a soldering iron can still be useful for bending extremely small radiuses. Dry bender is simply the fastest way and is only suitable for large radiuses.

      I am currently creating a new project where I will run a very detailed blog on my site on the example of HMS PEGASUS. I will build a model with the maximum use of tools available to all modelers. And give advice on how to apply all the techniques to other models from the kits. And by the way, the quality of the tool is not so bad - I was pleasantly surprised. Only the nailer disappointed - it was even without a magnet. But with a long handle, which I sometimes needed...

  • @mpelka
    @mpelka 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Ugh... sorry to say but Amati makes terrible tools IMO. I have their electric plank bender and it emits some toxic burnt plastic fumes when turned on, and it's hard to actually bend planks with it. I also have the other (dry) plank bender and it's extremely poorly made. The ergonomics are bad (your hand will cramp after doing this for a few minutes), the plastic is cheap and the screw that holds both arms together falls out constantly and needs to be tightened every couple of minutes. Sorry to be so negative - I really love your channel - just had poor experience with Amati tools.

      I haven't used these tools on models yet. The first impression was not bad, maybe Amati corrected these mistakes! I was disappointed only by the nail - it is without a magnet and therefore the nails fall out of it easily, which is very inconvenient but it has a long handle - which is sometimes very useful!
      Let's see how it will be in practice - I will definitely share my impressions!
