Great video, you had me expecting you were going chalk with Caleb Williams and Drake Maye but you really threw me for a loop with Kedon Slovis QB2! Keep up the good work!
I watched Caleb a lot when he was a freshman at OU. What I saw was he just looked like football just came natural to him. If I remember correctly, his senior year in HS was wiped out by COVID, and looked like he barely missed a day. And his game vs Texas is one of my favorite memories as a Sooners fan. He’s gonna be really good in the NFL.
Penix lack of pocket presence? Sir, That’s an absurd take. He was great at getting the ball out on time and not taking sacks. How about the game against usc when he threw the td to culp on the move dropping it in a bucket between 2-3 defenders. Polk in the Texas game to set the TD. There’s a highlight reel of these type of plays.
Marcus you have literally the best timing. Abt to head out on a 5 hour road trip. I only had bootleg to listen to but now you’ve given me this. Thanks man
Great evaluations, especially of Bo Nix, who I think would fit really well with the Vikings offense. Nix moves well enough to survive and operate behind MN's average NFL O line. His excellent pre-snap reads and tendency to hit quick passes in defensive soft spots means that JA, JJ and Hock each should get opportunities to get lots of RAC. It would be up to KOC to tell Bo who his first read would be. His B+ passing outside the pocket also bodes well, as does his ability to scramble for first downs. This adds up to a rookie QB that could survive starting on day one. Give him a legit RB1 for play action fakes, and you might just have a very functional system.
@@thestormofwarI like McCarthy more; I think his style would be more similar to kirks (especially if we got a good rb for him to lean on a bit); and I’m worried about KOC’s ability to play call for mobile QB’s after Dobb’s fell off the face of the earth last season (once we were able to actually game-plan for him starting).
Watch penix last season, everyone’s basing it off this szn, last year he was making all the underneath reads with good pocket presence not just the deep ball, kid has all the talent in the world, only thing that will hold him back is injuries. Easily the 3rd best qb in the draft
Can't wait for your "my guys" segment this year! That Cheifs defense has 3 of my own "My guys" on it from the past couple years. (Mcduffie, Chanel, Bolton)
penix can extend plays, he’s just gotten away from it due to his injury history. when it comes down to it he can get back to the creative extensions he made in high school, and the flashes of that he showed this year. i think he will be amazing if developed correctly
I was initially shocked to hear you say Caleb Williams is the worst QB in the draft, but when you made your point that since the Bears are going draft him, he's going to be a bust, I had to agree. Excellent analysis overall!
I feel like everyone overvalued the ability to "create" with Stroud last year and undervalued how good he is throwing from the pocket. Even though Penix isn't as good as Stroud, it's surprising to see people do the same with him this year. Just my opinion, but I think what he can do is much more valuable than what he can't.
That “create” narrative so overrated only qb recently that has won a chip from being “creative” is Mahomes. Stafford Brady nick foles etc. at the end of the day, pocket presence, processing abd throwing under pressure will always remain superior
Stroud created his ass off against one of the best defenses ever in the playoffs against Georgia. He just didn't have to show it that often playing inferior big ten teams, and played to what he was coached.

Bo Nix is a one read stare down QB , who was never hit while throwing a TD over 5 years. He has tunnel vision cant process, snd made a living throwing to wide open NFL recievers behind the best blocking line in college. He never turned his head in college.his arm strength is bottom tier.
Watched a bit of Jayden Daniels over the last few days and I feel like his arm talent is being a little overrated. Sure he throws an accurate deep ball, but the ball doesn't zip out of his hands like some of the other guys. You don't see him fit the ball into tight windows often either and I feel like part of his hesitation to throw over the middle like you mentioned is because he isn't that confident in his ability to. Imo his arm strength is about on par with Bo Nix and a bit behind McCarthy.
Penix blew my mind, whoever has a great oline and decent receivers he is perfect. For that team he is a gem hiding behind a lot of highly rated QBs. Sorta a Tom Brady upside potential, wrong team he will get crushed and ended.
McCarthy ball of clay? Lol Maybe fair if practically a QB draft truism, but then pointless. A crap way to say unlimited development upsides. Which is what he is saying… When I wrote that I didnt realize he had Penix ahead of McCarthy. McCarthy is an easier fit for teams to build with/around, less fragile. If Penix is like a well polished Tom Brady. McCarthy is the Tom Brady that left school a year early, somewhat unpolished. Since Penix and McCarthy are so far down on everyone’s lists, it helps for evaluatiors to ignore they played well enough to get in the National Championship this year, the potential hiding in plain sight. So far, Penix and McCarthy are the most high profile, hidden gems, ever. Exactly what at least two NFL teams want.
Not sure I understand how Jayden Daniels has a 10 % overall accuracy difference between him and Maye, yet you have Maye with substantially better ratings. At the very least Daniels should have an A+ deep accuracy. I also think his mid range accuracy is at least a B. Otherwise, good job
came to take a look at who might potentially be the pick for the Giants, but honestly feel confident that Daboll will get the most out of any of them to maximize their talents which has me kinda leaning towards the ideal draft night being taking Nabers/Odunze at 6 and then using the 2 seconds or a future pick to get back into the 1st for that 5th year on someone like JJ or Nix. Whoever they take, I dont think there is a single coach I'd want to develop my young QB more than Daboll and Kafka after the job they've done with Jones last year, but the work with DeVito convinced me that whatever they're doing with the QBs is rare. To go from running the WC against the Jets when he first took snaps because you feared what he might do to winning 3 games with him and making people believe he was actually the Giants Purdy (the most insane shit ever to anyone who watched him either at Cuse, Illinois or here) was remarkable. Shocked to see Taulia so high. I think he will go undrafted, and be a practice squad/UFL guy. Whereas Travis should be a 4th-5th round pick and a solid backup for awhile
I like Taulia a lot as a backup QB, I could see him thriving in AZs stretch zone PA WCO. Love to draft him if he’s available in the 6th to compete with Clayton Tune as Kyler Murray’s backup. That might be a bit unfair though because I think Tune will take a huge step forward after a year in this system transitioning from the straight airraid he ran at UH.
I could be completely wrong with these comps, but Tyrod Taylor is my comparison for Jodan Travis, and somewhat of an alex smtith/colin kaepernick hybrid for JJ McCarthy
On your video in the background, Nix is hitting second and third reads repeatedly. Kind of tough to buy the first read only narrative. It’s also hard to buy your arm strength argument as well when he’s on tape running and hitting a guy in stride at 55 with the flick of a wrist. Good fit for Minnesota like McCarthy. Also on Nix, his ball placement is some of the best I’ve ever seen. He hits guys in stride, back shoulders, and in position for serious yac. Reminds me of Kurt Warner at this. It’s a seriously underestimated trait for the next level.
First of all, just because you look one way first, doesn't mean that guy is your first read. College offenses design look offs when he first read is not in that direction. Mahomes, Allen, even Herbert...seeing the top qbs in the NFL be guys that there were questions on coming out is going to give teams hope they can find those guys too.
Those are two very similar things. If you can run, you can escape. And yes, it is important in the NFL. Look at Patrick Mahomes, one of the best passers in the NFL, and check how many first downs he has scrambled for. He does it all the time and it's crucial to his team.
Been saying that his entire college career, and it hasn't happened. Love the guy and everything he did for Michigan while he was there, but the writing's on the wall for him.
As a bears fan, with how reckless and poorly run the bears have been for all my life (born way after 85) if the bears pass on Caleb and penix falls to Minnesotas lap idk if I’ll still be able to be a fan of the team
The single most important factor for a QB's success in the NFL is quickness at mental processing - understanding and recognizing what is happening on the field. It doesn't matter how gifted he is physically. I don't know if he can process fast enough for NFL speeds. If he can, he's going to be fantastic. If he doesn't, he's not going to do well.
IMO I think the scouts are going to love JJ Mccarthy, I could be wrong but the guy has so much talent that was not realized because Mivhigan was such a run heavy team. I mean there was a game I can't remember, maybe Penn state but they ran an entire half, not one pass. Some people may think thats a bad sign, like they didn't trust him to throw but it was more that they knew they win just by running it down their throats but I believe he will be in the top 4 QBs taken once it's all said and done
1. Caleb Williams 2. Drake Maye 3. Jayden Daniels 4. Bo Nix 5. Michael Penix Jr. 6. J. J. McCarthy 7. Spencer Rattler 8. Michael Pratt 9. Devin Leary 10. Jordan Travis

Love the guy and everything he did for Michigan while he was there, but the writing's on the wall for him.
Bruh did you watch him at the senior bowl? Dude needs a lot of development to even be serviceable.
Agreed. Two words: Zach Wilson.
HYPED. It's officially draft season
My opinion on the 2024 qbs has arrived
Didn’t know Ben Gulbranson was declaring, but QB4 is not as hot a take as a lot of people think!

Sounds like JJ would be good if he could sit for a while. I’m glad we have Hendon. He was my favorite QB from last year’s draft.
Anyone else just not sold on Maye? Admittedly my analysis is baded off highlight tapes, i just dont see it.
Maye is more of a Philip Rivers
He reminds me of Kenny Pickett
Thank you for my person draft analysis that I will be sharing with my friends and passionately arguing
personal
Can’t wait for the 10 WRs, TFG is one of the best evaluators of the WR position out there
Yes a top 10 ranking. I was wondering if your potentially considering a rebuild of Washington/Carolina when you potentially get enough free time.
CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY BANGGGG DRAFT SEASON IS BACK
Crazy you had Devin Leary QB1. Definitely a sleeper, i commend your courage to be different.
JJ McCarthy is my qb4 going into the draft, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him end up as a top two qb from this draft 4 years in the future if he finds a decent landing spot
