This footage of under 3 minutes is 100% total punk in so many ways.John shows amazing restraint in a situation that could have blinded or killed him. Initially he gets the guy sorted and then laughs it off and carries on with a turban.Total legend.
Agreed. Anyone who calls John Lydon a sellout or argues that he's not a real punk needs to watch this clip. There are plenty of younger performers out there who would run off stage and call for an ambulance if this happened but John proved that he still has that old Rotten energy and powered through the set like a boss.

Not true. Met John back in his Pistols days. He was mean spirited but scrawny and not physically scary. Punk was selling attitude and rebellion not toughness. I've never understood the "sell out" label for anyone.. Lydon or otherwise.. If you're selling something, and other people are buying. Suddenly you're a sellout.
I think the difference comes, if people are buying what you're selling. But you kick the ladder out to stop other people, in a similar situation to Lydon back in the day from coming up and succeeding. But from what I've seen, he has multiple warm up acts, some of which haven't been signed.. So, good on him. Doing it right!

I remember a story about Geddy Lee getting a bottle in the head at a gig once, the band stopped playing, they brought the house lights up, and announced the show was over. it is a shame to do that to the other 99.99% of the fans, but you just can't put up with that crap. I can remember reading a review of a Sex Pistols gig many years ago at which the audience were throwing lot of bottles at the stage and Johnny Rotten (as he was then) was goading them, saying, "You're not throwing enough bottles". Ironic. But it doesn't make it right.
