When he 3 bets he has suited aces, suited connectors or one gappers such as 64s 109s as well as stuff like 99+/AJs/AQo+. You really want to let all these hands have a chance to realise their equity? It's really standard.

I think that flatting JJ oop is a worse option than shove. SB vs bb JJ against qq is a cooler
