I don't think you are not a reviewer you should be only playing with box office collection s . The movie is simply great it has got a great message for the people of our beloved country India how to live a life of love happiness and togetherness and CARE FOR THE OTHER without ant bias . It's simply motivational Aamir khan has not bored at all though it being lengthy of about 2 hrs 37 minutes when you are watching the movie and the narrative one simply feels why does it end so soon. I know and I too have seen Forrest Gump but the treatment of this movie is really enjoyable. I always watch Aamir Khans movies in theaters but this I watched not in theater but on Netflix at my friends house . This is the way Aamir khan makes his movies and we love him for that the hmm sound that he makes never irritates but when you make that sound it irritates Mr Nahta. Go watch this movie with a clear mind you will love it.
The movie is worth watching, remember there is a timeline in Forest Gump that very well driven smoothly, similarly, in Laal singh chadda, which is following a indian timeline, it fits very well....u cant imagine a better adaptation of concept of original movie.. in any other movie

Audience is now more aware about the content quality. Even if low budget movie with less promotion are now getting good audience on the basis of good content.
Extensive promotion can not save a movie with bad content.
Forest Gump movie keeps audience engaged purely due to the superb acting done by Tom Hank.

The most fundamental flaw in the movie was the very idea of a "mentally challenged soldier, that too in the parachute regiment". The soldiers of the Indian army are all volunteers of excellent mental and physical standards. There are more people applying to join the army than available posts. However, in the USA, they don't have many people joining as Soldiers. They allowed low IQ soldiers.
Also, Aamir is not as innocent looking as Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks was young, Amir is old. Aamir was overdoing it.

US allowed such soldiers to be recruited as part of the controversial Project McNamara. India has never done such a thing. Adapting it directly makes no sense, unless they created a fictional project like that.

It is not possible to copy Great TOM HANKS who stands out even in Hollywood. Watching LSC after watching Forrest Gump N Number of times is like watching Ram Gadh Ke Sholay after watching Sholay.

I watched the movie today. I have to say that the movie is a classic. Unfortunately, neither the reviewers nor the audience knows what cinema is all about. The reviewer like many like him has fallen into the trap of 'boring' versus 'entertainment'. To say on the first day, that the film will be 'boring' needs lot of brain work. In fact, i find that the camera never was still , and not beyond 1 minute. The script was tacky, and tricky, but to fit the Indian narrative to Forest Gump was not as easy as one thinking man would imagine, given that it was an Official remake of the Original film and story.
KN has given a good positive review of all the cast and crew in his reasonable appreciation of their individual efforts, except about Aamir Khan's performance. The 'hard work' part was so obvious. We should expect more analysis of the acting performances and direction, (the script , in this case , does not matter) - the two which maketh, or breaketh a movie.
All said and done, according to me, Aamir deserves an Oscar for this performance.

The type of movie that Forest Gump is won't appeal to the massy audience's taste. That point you mentioned where Lal doesn't know why he is running is exactly what Forest said when he came to a stop and returned to his county. It's a satire type of movie, and I'm sure Aamir and writer had to add a lot of masala to make it relatable to the Indian audience. I feel the typical Indian audience cannot watch through Forest Gump as well, as it's a slow narrative driven film as well where Tom Hanks also keeps talking in a Southern American Accent.
So may be Mr. Atul's wish to remake a movie like Forest Gump wasn't the brightest idea, may be some classic gangster or thriller flick would've been better.

Hindi cinema needs to reinvent. Directors must get hold of their own whereas they are just for namesake and that's why film fails. Certain directors like bhansali and hirani still hold that position and many directors aren't enough qualified to be a director like remo prabhu deva farhad samji and many others. For example Vikram which is around 3 hrs without a single dull moment bcoz director has full control on the film.
