Press mode until it is OFF. Then press the MODE and UP arrow simultaneously until a screen comes on with a number in the middle and a number in the upper right hand side. Cycle through the middle number until you get to "Celsius". I just changed it on the one I have after 5 years of trying to figure it out.
For all of you who were like me and found this page by searching how to reset the freaking "change filter" message. All you have to do is press and hold up & down buttons at the same time for a few seconds.
Chapter 2: Programming. You CANNOT in some cases program the Stat to "fit your schedule" I simply want WAKE and SLEEP events. WAKE - raise temp to 68 at 10:00AM. SLEEP- drop temp to 65 at 1150 PM. The software requires you to program each event time within specific time parameters. WAKE time must be between 6:00AM and 8:00AM. It will let you program WAKE for any time but will ignore your program request if your time is outside of the 6-8 parameter. I have my WAKE time set for 10:00AM but the system "wakes" at 8:00AM. I dont want the temp going up while I am still in bed, but I have no choice. To make it worse, the software will allow me to program outside its established parameters with no warning or error. It just wont do what you ask it to do.
This was my problem. We have ours set so it doesnt turn on until 8pm yet everyday at 7pm it turns on by itself regardless what the schedule says. I have to put a temp hold until 8pm everyday. Its been super frustrating.
I'm just an Apt renter in a home that has central air and heating with this Thermostat. Well 95% of the time I don't need it on at all. Thank the Builder, I found the off function. I just needed to removed the batteries and it's all fixed now.

That's done during the installation. You can get to the "installation procedure" again by resetting it. I must warn you however you'll have to go through all of the steps and specify all of the settings again. Bad product. Bad bad bad. I followed this video exactly and I can't adjust the temperature. I try pressing the buttons lightly and nothing happens. I try smashing them, nothing. This is ridiculous.

Can you tell me what is the meaning of the codes and what they are for when you press the program menu? from the thermostat off position hold the MODE + ^ (temp up) buttons for 3 seconds. It displays a series of number that you can cycle through by pressing the MODE button, and it returns to normal mode by simply leaving it alone for a few seconds.

Im going to copy/paste what the poster above typed. Press the "hold" button and the box in the lower left should go off. You might have to press it twice.
Press HOLD button twice until "HOLD" text appears on screen below current temperature. Hold overrides the schedule permanently until you press the HOLD button again to remove it.

I have the 8840m and the current time wont stay where I set it. Keeps reverting to 3 hours prior. I set it to current time and come back a bit later and the clock is showing a time of 3 hours ago. Cant figure it out.
Just wondering why aprilaire cant put out a complete instruction for it. Every friiggin summer I switched to cool and furnace blows hot air i had to reset my thermostat and it wont show outside temp anymore and setting it up is ridiculous .Owners manual only half helpful this video helped but did not fix my 8476 completely
MANNEXTDOOR IR - no I didn’t. Finally called the company that installed my furnace/air conditioner. The thermostat was replaced with a non-programmable one. I’m fine with that.
Our heating guy gave us this thermostat when we installed a new furnace - it's really terrible. It has a REALLY bright back light, whenever you push any button - you can't even see any numbers or letters on the thermostat. Really bad product.
Anyone know where the temperature sensor on the thermostat is? Mine is reading 10 degrees higher than it actually is. I set it to 80 with the fan turned on and it doesn’t seem to be helping
@@joeyamada4976 there's a big number in the middle/left-ish, mine says 84. I've set the small number on the right to 68. All that said, is the large number the outside air temp or is that the inside temp?
Leave the batteries out for 3 or 4 minutes (until the screen is completely blank...it may just display OFF...wait til that is gone). Put new batteries in and walla! Of course, it's lost the programming/time/etc. This thing sucks.
Try pressing the MODE button 2 twice, 1 should turn the light on, the second time should move the temp to heat, then a 3rd time to cool, if you have auto it will cycle through it also. If all that fails, press the reset button with a paper clip and hold it for at least 10 seconds, do make sure your batteries are working okay, that should get it back to normal. If that fails, either change it, use the warranty if you have any, or get a professional to replace it. It is not worth the repair if it will cost you more than $20, that includes the technician fee, ;-)
Does anyone else love how because you can't shut the fan off once your house is warm the fan kicks on and blows cold air back into your house causing the heat to turn back on
@@jimmyrunnerz Yes, open your breaker box there should be a separate breaker for just the fan/filter system, (mine wasn't labeled so I had to flip a few) you'll still hear the thermostat click like it's trying to turn the fan on but the fan won't come on. Just remember once pollen season hits to turn the fan/filter back on, I hope this helps.
This control Panel is a Sh…t Is annoying, tedious. I will replace it with an Alexa !!! Why not to build this kind of things friendly and straight to the point buttons ???

James Garner when you have the battery cover removed, there is a small hole to the right. Still a pin in it for a few seconds to reset it.

Yeah I didn't notice the pin hole but after 20 minutes without the batteries in it reset and I was able to change the batteries.
