    I like the concept of mixing a blacksmith with body parts as the material. It's like being a human lego builder and that has all kinds of cool paths it could take with creative ideas.

    I am very intrigued by the game, but if I understand correctly many of the units just sorta go do their own thing. I think a flag system like Majesty had might be nice, but I guess instead of money the flags could just be on a timer or something.

      Maybe use mana to pay for flags? Certainly makes more sense than gold.

      not only do they do their own thing, they very dumbly run into the enemy, not melee range of the enemy, I mean they basically body slam the enemy until your unit dies. This happens even with pure ranged units. More skeletons just means you reveal more castles, can't exactly pull them back from revealing castles due to obelisks. It is a cool concept, it just does not play how you would expect a necromancer army builder to play.

      You want fast speed on melee pawns and very slow speed on ranged pawns, and especially to manually control your high-value pawns.

      Even a "recall troops" button that makes all the skellies meet up at the castle would be useful

    I think a very strong thing you can do that you didn’t really use, was having a double wand mage or wand + crossbow and then control it to kill those armies, that way your unit won’t just kill itself and do a lot of damage

    I feel like one of the early unlocks this game needs is something that increases passive mana generation, considering the better parts cost more and more mana to use
    as for meta-progression, having some way to hold onto blueprints between runs would be excellent
    oh, and for quick basic troops for emergencies, having a way to unlock 'mana parts' where they're formed from nothing but mana and can be used infinitely but are very weak might be a nice thing to have

      the trick is to get regeneration and then use the durable body parts and AOE weapons. Your minions stop dying allowing you to invest in more expensive ones

      @@epicstyle1000 That and some 'keep your distance' commands so they don't just charge straight THROUGH enemies especially when they are supposed to be ranged.

    This seems fun, but also frustrating.
    One thing, that i think would REALLY change the game: Is to be able to decide if your guys patrol your castle, or explore
    what would be even better is if you could place down like "bounty flags" sort of like in "Majesty" to make your guys focus, but it could cost mana or smth.
    But just a little bit of control i feel would make a world of difference

    Basically, the Kitty you send out brings back the stuff dropped by the kills your warriors achieved, you need to send it as soon as the cooldown is finished.
    Because you didn´t, you had too little mats to create the army necessary to survive the first round.

I don't know why but you bring a smile to his face and make him laugh every time I watch one of your videos around him. I appreciate keeping your language clean too, otherwise I might not be able to catch up on the nerd castle with my morning coffee while he's around.

    Fun game, I loaded up the demo after seeing this.
    2 things - You can generate mana by dragging un-needed body parts onto the mana flask at top right of the unit creation window. The game tells you this when you assemble something that costs more mana than you have. This completely solves mana generation issues.
    2nd - Start small by controlling 1 dude and expanding slowly, capturing buildings. This lets you build up mana/parts for when you get attacked and also slows down early game attacks. I won my 2nd game using this method.

    Classic splatty moment, down to 1 archer unit, watching it go suicide headfirst into a bunch of slimes, having forgotten the prompt from 10 minutes ago that you can actually drive it to kite :D

    Interesting concept with a huge Achilles's heel: the armies wandering about and kicking too many "hornets' nests" too fast. Like other suggested, passive mana regeneration, a flg system, and some better feedback on whom in the map you have triggered could make this a great game. Right now, those issues are quite annoying, because you make too many enemies too fast.

      It seems like they eventually start sending stuff out on their own...that first group in the next to last game came from something he couldn't see.

      @@pbsixgun6 that's okay, tbh; what seems a bit unbalanced is the rate of enemies which can be accidentally "called upon" too early by the roaming undead.

      i think a partial problem was him not using the cat spell. it seemed to pick up everything on the map, including mana and him not using it hindered his mana regeneration greatly

      @@StabbyTheSkaven Not enough mana drops to maintain a full army at all times. The waves outpace you about 5 minutes in. The only counter is to manually control the units so they stop suiciding. The cat is useful but it only lasts about 10-15 seconds and really doesn't pick up that much.

      If there's only like 5-10 Undead, you could manually control them with mouse-clicks. Defining areas where they can roam like in any RTS. Then it would also be possible to have defense forces and attack forces.

    This reminds me of Magesty, in the way that you recruit units but then don't really control them and they just roam the map doing deeds.

      Every once in a while I go back and replay the campaign mode of Majesty. It's just so fun. I wish they made a modern sequel.

    I think heads should come with an AI-type to determine what they do
    like an Aggressor that actively goes out and murders crap
    and another one is a Defender that stays within the necro biome of the castle and keeps enemies out
    that would be cool

      Or maybe even the 'combination' of parts for specific rolls. Sheilds with bows should automatically become 'short-range from the castle only' AI.( With appropriate *keep your distance* A.I added as well.

    I love this game's charm. Hopefully it gets some nice feedback and updates from this release because if it gets UI improvements and a rally/recall option for the skeley's then I'm absolutely in!

    yeah, beat the playtest first try (cause i am cool and also cause i watched this vid and knew what to do XD )
    what i learned:
    - some micromanagement goes a long way. ranged units are extremely powerful when manually kept away from enemies. even melee units have a long enough range to not take damage when manually controlled.
    - usually its best to NOT spawn any units untill enemies approaching the fortres. then, spawn as many units as possible. try to match unit speed so they stick together. usually the army then will keep moving toward the spawner and hopefull take it out.
    - ork parts are op

    Just played the demo and this game gives off the same vibe I got when looking and watching gameplay videos of vampire survival, and that is anything indicative of what this game will be like on release and going forward, then this game will be a big hit and I'm all here for it!

    A mix of Majesty, Necronator and Vampire Survivors. There seems to be quite many issues around like gaining mana, gaining materials. We should be able to spam out units, its a summoning game after all. The game AI also has issues, such as ranged units running to the front instead of shooting arrows and spells from max distance... The game will probably become awesome when those issues are fixed... For now I've wish-listed it.... The game looks very promising :)

    After finishing the demo... The most important part are ranged units, control helps a lot. But most of all, a tower. Making a zombie tower. With speed not enough for it to move, shoot up everything around the castle, ideally with a minigun and a dual lightsaber or flamethrower. That's it.

    For as early as it is, there's a lot of good things already, and nicely set up at that. I'm eager to see it developed and refined, Minimap in particular, UI in general. Maybe more options to order minions to go forth and explore, or stay near base to gather resources and defend, etc..

    This game is really good. Just do a bone boy with 2x pewpews, control that one and sell the parts you dont need , make some op dead boys and when you can do a robot to defende the base, keep in control of the one you did and fend off the hordes, when ready go look for the castle. keep upgrading the regen upgrade.

    Looks like this could end up being a pretty good game. I don't like the "viewport" style, or that you can't minimize the building screen. I would also think it would be a lot less frustrating if you could set gather points or at least group units

    The ranged units not acting in range is absolutely crippling any chances of surviving longer. Massively needs to be corrected. Also would be nice to have some sort of indicator like you were saying of where you're being attacked from, since it largely seems proximity based, and you can literally get ganked from start.

    This game looks pretty interesting, guess I'll check back in on it in the future to see how the keep improving on this concept.
    Randomly this made me think of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King. Anyone know if any indies have come out with a game similar to that one?
    I loved managing the city design and sending out your adventurers to do missions.

    having ranged units run into melee is bad, but restricting units with ranged attacks from going into melee could be bad as well since you can give them swords and range. maybe setting a preference for them OR there could be a check behind the scenes that checks DPS between the 2 and it prioritizes that weapon

      It isn't even that they go into melee, they bodyslam the closest enemy. Enemies have contact damage while the sword has a few pixels of range, their is no reason the skeleton AI needs to be that dumb other than added difficulty.

    Even though it's somewhat in the overly-charismatic commentator style, the video really reminds me of old reviews of flash games. The game itself is really like a more polished flash game. You're not really supposed to accomplish stuff and feel good because of that, the game in itself is cool and unique enough to make it feel special. The UI and the mostly simple gameplay systems would fit very well to be a mobile game. If the game gets a mobile version without altering too much actual gameplay, I would definitely spend a lot of hours on it. Good mobile games are very much needed too.

    It would be very useful if you could issue some commands to your troops besides the default "Search and Destroy", like being able to set some to patrol around your castle to intercept enemies, maybe in an easy way, with markers, from point A to B , B to C, C to A to close the patrol route, ofc with more points, 6-8 should be enough maybe. Also like others have said passive mana generation , maybe castle upgrade, or mana on kill, or maybe get some mana back when your troops are killed.

    Not to nitpick, but a metagame progression, where you "level up" inbetween playthroughs, is *not* part of a true rogue-like where the only thing you gain after your (perma!)death is knowledge.
    Randomly generated maps are now about the only feature games like this still share with real Rogue-likes (Rogue,Nethack,Angband etc.), and honestly I think we need a new genre term for them. I know there is "rogue-lite" but it's too similar.

    You need to send out the cat much earlier...lol it has a long cooldown...getting out as soon as you can to collect all the loose crap is essential. Same with lightning, Use it when ya have it on the strongest group.

    This was a really fun lil game.
    problem: no control over skellies making it hard to defend base.
    solution: make robots so heavy they have 0 or - speed and can't move, give them flamers, rockets, lasers, grenades.
    base is defended now you are free to run around as you please
    kinda broken hahaha
    end of second play i had 3000 gold and 1500 mana i couldn't use

    Still ways to go but I like the idea. AI of your skeletons needs to be improved (no reason for ranged ones to go into melee), and the UI is missing many features.

    I dont know, I think they may have to make limbs genericically swapable, because as it stands thier really is not much customization. But the ability to add a third attacking limb at the cost of most of your speed or have a basically stationary turret skeleton with four crossbows might be an interesting tradeoff.

    It looked good. Considering the strength of the armies against you i think the mana costs were too high to make new guys?Also would be nice to be able to draw a circle and assign a guy to that circle so they dont wander off?

    To me it looks a bit like that war game on Twitch where every viewer can place a character every 5 minutes and at the end the piles fight against the skeletons / mobs on the map.

    I do like a good auto battler. Edit: and Mushroom Slaughter sounds like a really good dish that has pasta or chicken.

    This game is very fun. I save all my mana and build 2 mechan with mantics leg and 2 dual laser saber arms, and they just clear the map

    The feet icons are right facing while the feet body parts and the body when put together are left facing.

    This certainly has premise, but it needs really needs like a hold button or stop or something. Pretty much so your guys don't contantly wonder the map aimlessly and activate enemy lairs BEFORE you can handle.
