Wolfe Ridge 28C - Easy Engine Oil Change With The Honda GX390

Today for #WolfeRidgeWednesday we show you how to change the engine oil on an older Wolfe Ridge 28C wood splitter. The machine in this video is approximately 3 years old and was traded in on a new 28C. This procedure is the same on the current model 22RS, 28C, 35C, 28HO, and 35HO.
Tools needed to change your engine oil:
- 12mm socket
- 3/8 ratchet
- Funnel (with flexible spout preferred)
- Oil drain pan
- Rags / shop towels
-1 Quart 10W30 engine oil - OR - 5W30 in cold climates
- 20 minutes

Not only a sales guru our trusted Bob but also a technical genius 😂 I’m a big Honda fan but what I hate about my power gens (comparable GX engine but smaller) and lawn mower is the horizontal oil drain, makes a mess.
Cars, bikes etc have vertical drains, this makes life easier and a better way to get all of the old oil dripping out.

Good explanation video 👍 I know it may sound wasteful, but when I do an oil change I use some new sacrificial oil to flush out any deposits after I drain the oil. The new oil is thicker and will trap the gunk and pull it out when it drains. Dump the sacrificial oil in until it runs clear then do your fill up. I know it will cost you more but it will extend the life of your engine.
