Earlier this week I came through Changi - finally managed to go and see the Jewel and the waterfall - and I was sending pics of the various sights to friends saying "this is an airport". I tried finding the T2 waterfall - but now realize it's land-side, not air-side. Pity I didn't know that ahead of time. The automated immigration/emigration works like a charm - just a pity your passport is no longer stamped! Changi is truly world-class - what an airport! Great video, keep it up!

As a local and someone that flies quite a bit Changi is the best always ...for me it's not just because I am a citizen or even because it's huge and has lots of ENT and eateries etc that you did so well in your video but that it feels home even for a foreigner passing thru... it is not like any other airport ...the only other airport I dare say I like is ICN in Seoul Korea...even Hong Kong does not cut it for me...and doha and worse still Dubai they are just huge but gives you a very u welcome feeling...and lately yes it's the smoothest way to fly out or fly in to Singapore and living in Tampines I am just a ten to twelve min ride in cab...yet I always check in early to enjoy this awesome airport ...❤proud to be a Singaporean indeed...and how many major airports have carpeting?

I agree that Doha Airport is NOT better than Singapore airport! In fact their new opening of the garden in the terminal is like copying our garden by the bay except no waterfall! Well, just because it is within the transit area then they are considered number 1?! FYI, I often transit in Doha. Also there is no hot water around. Only drinking fountain. Not as many facilities as ours.

Changi may have fallen to #2, but it is still a flawless airport. I was there earlier this year and was stunned by the amazing architecture, design and especially the features of the airport.
Overall, it is safe to say that Singapore and Qatar are in a neck-to-neck race for #1 spots in aviation. Doha Hamad and Singapore Changi are the top 2 airports, while Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines are the top 2 airlines of 2024. In 2023, both were in the top 2 as well, just with interchanged positions.

Jewel is my favourite way to spend time when departing Singapore! I've done the early check in at Jewel and spent the next few hours enjoying the hawker food, Ya Kun kaya toast, a movie (paid) at the cinema, shopping etc before flying off. I love your breathless customs walk-through. Unfortunately for me, for some reason, the camera didn't like my face (or my fingerprints mutated) despite several attempts and in the end I had to go through manually, all while my family stood on the other side waiting for me hahaha.

Jewel Changi Airport was one of my most visited (since being my most favourite until the Punggol Digital District is ready, another mixed-use development) shopping malls since it's opening and I remember visiting almost every weekends (mainly on Saturday) during the first year as I really love this attraction and especially seeing the skytrain and rain vortex in the middle is really outstanding for a small but well developed country. To me Changi is still No 1 ! Who actually flys to Doha anyway sia ! I would say i wish there was some kind of airport train between T4 to T1,2,3. rather than the bus service. But that's due to my selfish reason as I usually fly on Cathay which arrives at T4 lol. That said T4 getting taxi/ Grab the service is good. But yeah a good hour to check in is fine. Ranked 1 2 or 3? Who cares?
We all know Changi has got the package that we all want.
First, lots of flights to where you want to be.
Next, even if the weather is less than brilliant, taking off and landing is mostly on time. As I understand it, this is a product of A grade computer systems working hand in hand with experienced and talented air traffic controllers.
The baggage handling system works marvelously well. There are no issues if you have a quick transfer.
As the vlog suggests, getting to the airport via both public transport or private vehicle is a snap.
Then there is the smooth efficient baggage reception and immigration/ emigration practices. Bags are quick drop off while who gets into and out of the country is something that has zero impact on my comings and goings. For me at least, this is less than a five minute experience.
The shopping and F&B facilities are second to none.
    However, there are issues.
The Singapore Airlines Lounges just don't have the capacity needed. If I am on a three hour transfer I want a shower!
Security at the gate is a total drag. Having to stand in a line for nearly an hour to get into the gate area is as dull as dishwater. Drinking water and toilets on the other side would be wonderful.
    Cheers
    M

It’s thinly sliced pork, marinated in a local honey type sauce & cooked over a slow fire. It’s really delicious. I think of it as Singapore’s version of our marinated baby back ribs in the United States minus the ribs😂🤣

Although i only showed big slices, they also sell in small packs of biteable pieces too. Those might be more first timer friendly, and it's super convenient to eat as a snack! I often pack this for hiking trips because it's satisfying and calorie dense

This vid doesnt address the elephante in the room. Who is number 1, and why they are number 1? Instead of self psychoing that we are number 1, yes i am sg too, lets look at others whom are doing good. See what they have done good and how certain aspects we can consider to adopt or do even better. Sry. Didnt bother to watch the full vid. Only watched 4 seconds of the whole vid, only to realised its all the self praise without going to experience what others have.
Its the same. Many felt the gov is good. But when they go other countries, only than they realise some things we can do better. Similarly for ppl whom always are criticising on our own gov, they go overseas see many aspects that they ought to do better, is blatently ignored by their gov, than they know how good our gov is.
Nothing is perfect. Its better to have multiple views in order not to be myopic.
Sincerely hope u can do a fair video review of the airport that took over as number and say why they deserve it.

Waiting to clear security just before the flight is something that should be done in tandem with clearing immigration and not at the last minute. Sure, you can enjoy the fabulous airport but you know in the back of your mind you can’t totally relax cause you still have that final clearance. I’ve never understood why that is done-just seems like poor planning.

Security checks at the gates are a massive pest. Keeping your water isn't important. (Maybe it's secretly gin? That would make more sense.) Passengers are told to go to the gate early because of that delay. The screens will say your flight is "boarding" when it's not. Basically, they lie to you because of the size of the airport and the delays caused by security at the gate. It's frustrating normally, but it's worse when there is an actual delay!
My experience last time: Screens say my flight is boarding. I walk from the lounge to the gate (10 mins). Go through security. It's now about 20 mins before departure. Boarding isn't happening. There's been no announcement. I ask one of the staff, who admits the flight is delayed. The screens still haven't been updated. I walk back to the lounge. Have another drink. Use the internet. Then walk back to the gate when boarding is announced. Back through security again. In total, I spent 30 mins of my last hour in Changi walking to and from the gate. One of the most irritating airports in the world when there's a delay, because they lie to you even when it's clear the aircraft will be late.

    • @dashingheights
      @dashingheights  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

ah yea i feel your pain. I also hate to be waiting for boarding. thats why i prefer to be the last ones to board because i dont want to be the sucker waiting for nobody hahahahah
