On this walk, we walk on the industrial side of 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn NY. 3rd Avenue is known as the place to have a drink and get something to eat in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn, but there is a part of 3rd Avenue that most don't know about unless you live in the neighborhood. Starting in Downtown Brooklyn, just off of Atlantic Avenue, we will be walking along the busy streets of 3rd Avenue through the neighborhoods of Downtown Brooklyn, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill and Sunset Park.
This side of 3rd Avenue features alot of traffic and new construction projects going up. This first part of the walk will be in "open space" - more on that later - as we check out the area. Along this part of the road, we will pass the Gowanus Canal, see some old buildings, and new ones going up. We will pass under the 9th Street Train trestle and continue on into Sunset Park.
The 2nd half of the walk will be under the Gowanus Expressway. This is where the "open space" above goes away. This is a really interesting and busy part of the walk. Very industrial, and a good dose of traffic ambience all the way to 60th Street. We will pass by some old warehouses, and I will talk about some of the jobs I needed to do in these warehouses years ago. We will also pass the Brooklyn Correctional Facility, and check out the businesses that operate under the Gowanus overpass.
This will be an interesting walk for anyone into industrial settings, or for anyone that has ever wondered what 3rd Avenue looks like north of 65th Street. I will not post any timestamp chapters - This way everything on the walk is a surprise. Leave your own timestamps in the comment section if you want to share something interesting you saw on the walk.
Come along for this very busy and animated walk along 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn NYC. Commentary throughout the whole walk. And as always, Thanks for taking the walk with me!

At the onset you said you are not a historian, I beg to differ. Whenever one relates information based on empirical pevidence or personal knowledge, they are, in essence, a historian. Information offered by personal recollections personalizes the narrative. Thank you for your videos and your personal insight.
Thank you. 👍👍

Watching this now and wondering why didn't you go further, like down to around 85th Street where there is a lot more to view? You miss out on a lot to 60th street only
I have other walks that cover the rest of 3rd Avenue. Search them on my channel. This walk is only for this section of 3rd Ave.
@@StrideWarrior Yeah I just finished watching the video and realized you mentioned that
