    STY - Styrene
    NYL - Nylon
    REZ - Resin
    I've got some Ammo in Sand, Green and think they do a red brown for Armour primer.
    One thing I hope to try are metallics over the gloss black - most probably AK extreme.

    I was initially put off by this primer because of bad exeriences trying to hand brush the black unthinned. Then I discovered that some thinning made a huge difference. I now use a Paasche H Series airbrush with them with no problems, thinning with the Vallejo Flow Improver. Immediately after use and a wipe of the cup I drop the cup and needle assembly into warm soapy water for cleanup. Your videos are so very instructive I recommend them to my friends who are getting into airbrushing.

    I've been using these for a few months now and find them a very good product, across the board. My only gripe is they stick so well, they are tough to get out of the airbrush if left too long - and by too long, I mean a very shot time. But, they are great primers.

    I had TERRIBLE experience with the basic ones, black, white and grey. It was like shooting thick mud trough my airbrush. Tried thinning with vallejo thinner in different ratios, home made thinner different ratios (the one on your video), different PSI, bigger nozzle and nothing. It always was like a blast of concrete with a terrible rocky finish. I had to look up and it seems that they have a little problem on their quality control since some batches had or have this issue and some don't. For acrylics, i ended up just buying Vallejo Surface Primer. So far is the only one that's not giving me so many problems and where i live i don't have much options sadly.
    Are you planning on doing a Mr.Finishing Surfacer lineup video? Currently i'm using Alclad Black Base for my projects, robots and some mecha-like stuff but i saw they have a pink one and it looks cool to try.

    I am not sure where I am messing up, but I bought a few of these some time back, but when I use them, trying to clean them out of my gun is a massif pain, as it is like trying to pull gummy syrup out of the tip etc. I have experienced this before when using other water based acrylics as well. I have tried thinning with 91% alcohol, Windex, wiper washer fluid, etc. I was hoping this was a good alternative to seal plastic before using lacquers, but I am not sure it is worth the massive cleanup effort. I applied 5 coats to the first spoon, drying in between with a modeling heat gun, and when I realized that the gloss was only semi-, I tried again on another spoon, with only 2 light coats to get full coverage. Been using this for ages now, it works best with a thin coat anfd then go back and load it on. I use a 0.4 at 25psi and it is fine.

    Maybe this will make since. I've seen a lot of AFV modelers use the aka red primer but, then again I've seen them use Black base with White highlights and then they will spray on the top coat. Which primer color is the best to use or is it a matter of opinion?

    Is it safe to use the one shot primer and apply Mr color or Tamiya lacquer paint over it? Or will it re activate it since its polyurethan latex based.

    Man, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I bought the three primer Stynylrez, Gray, white and black. It doesn't want to stick to the spoons. It makes kind of bubbles. Don't the primers grip on anything? I put the pressure between 20-30 and tried with a 0.5 and 0.3 and I still not getting the result that I'm supposed to get. The primer spray cans work fine, but airbrush, I got hard time to master an airbrush

      @barbatosrex9473  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Have you thinned the primer slightly? Also spoons are tough, they're all different. Try lightly sanding them

    • @chauffeurmarco
      @chauffeurmarco 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@barbatosrex9473 yes but instead using the thinner, I use Reducer 4012 and even if the white one doesn’t need as they say, I put just a bit, very few drops. At the end, I tried as it is, without but no success on that too. What I don’t understand is when you do it, you don’t have any difficulty at all to make it stick even on unprimed spoon. What is the damn secret? Is it because I used a reducer instead thinner?

    There was a bad batch that hit the market. I got a sample bottle from a show, used it loved it. Bought a bottle of black a few months later. Total nightmare. Stuff gummed up in the cup and brush and turned into latex. Took me a hour to break down the brush and clean it all out. The sample bottle, a red oxide, still shoots wonderful.

      Oh yeah, it actually made the news in the hobby world. They posted on their Facebook page they knew about it. During the pandemic they had to use alternative ingredients and that's where the trouble started. I thought they were sending out replacements? You should write to them

    Paul from NB Canada again. Thanks for the in depth review. ONE thing to mention is that some of them CAN turn into a Jelly like goo in transit. I ordered a 12 pack of primers on sale and Badger had to send out 3 new bottles as even the guy on the phone said to simply toss them out. BUT what DID work, worked out well.

    I really like Stynylrez primer! I've read that Stynylrez stands for the three basic materials it's designed for" STYrene, NYLon, and RE(Z)in. I guess they used a Z instead of an S so people would pronounce it right! Love your channel, I've learned a lot from you!

    A few things that you may not know yet, Idk, but 1) (I learned this from Gilbert Mondragon) warming them up with a candle warmer works marvelously to improve the flow and mixing/shaking/stirring capabilities; 2) (I learned this one by asking Ken Schlotfeldt at Badger) you can mix acrylic inks into these (don't go overboard) and make nearly endless variations of primers with them; and 3) mixing these primers with one another works AMAZINGLY.

    Great video. I’ve used these primers for years, mainly black & gray. I agree that a 0.7 on my Badger lays it down nice without thinning. I might have to try some of the other colors now.

    I spray Stynylrez using a .3mm needle @20 PSI. Never thinned and never had an issue with a decent airbrush. Tip dry is prevalent with it if your air pressure is too high and every one of my cheap airbrushes seems to suffer from it since they move way more air than they do paint.

    first of all, sorry for crappy english, I have in use a bottle of ammo one shot, sand color, the problem that I found out is that the surface of the plastic need to be very clean. I don't have this problem with the auto type primer, with this primer doesen't matter the fingerprints, but the one shot type, needs a cleaning bath, whatever you do, you need to clean the surface prior to start priming. still, very good primer, too expensive around here, nobody sells the badger one.
