    What should I use for mulch? Would a bag of shredded hardwood mulch be good? We really enjoy all your videos, very helpful.

      Kay, use straw. It is an excellent mulch for tomatoes. Do not use hay. Thank you for the kind comment. It is really appreciated.

    I noticed you use these three products for peppers and egg plants too. Do I use them with cucumbers corn or peas as well?

      Yup, Crystal we use it for all our plantings. We modify it for different plants using compost and fertilizer.

    How often do you feed the tomatoes with the tomato tone? How often do you give them bone meal? Thanks loved the video

      On the video she does on planting tomatoes in containers she does bone meal one week and the tomato tone the following week and goes back and forth all season, she says well into the fruiting period.

      MikeMan, I feed tomatotone every 3 weeks when the plants are in the garden and every 2 weeks when plants are in containers. I feed bone meal 3 applications 2 weeks apart and then stop. If the plants are in containers, I feed bone meal every 2 weeks for3 applications. I alternate 1 week tomatone and 1 week bone meal.

      How do you manage watering along with applying TomatoTone and Bone meal?

    How about the bone meal? I added 1 1/2 lbs. to my 24 sq. ft. garden. Would I still be adding more with the tomato tone every 2 weeks?

      No, Dawn, you have added enough bone meal, but you must fertilize with the tomatotone.

    Where do you find the bonide copper fungicide in powder form? I’ve tried Home Depot, Lowes, tractor supply, and local nurseries. I live in Corpus Christi Texas. Thanks

      @@harvestinghistoryllc3161 Hello Barb, question would you reuse the soil in a container that has tomatoes in it that has had blight?

    Can I still use tomato tone if I have already incorporated bone and blood meal into my raised garden bed. Will I be getting enough nitrogen from the blood meal. Im afarid of burning my plants.

    • @harvestinghistoryllc3161
      @harvestinghistoryllc3161  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dawn, it really depends on how much blood meal you have put in your beds, but to be on the safe side, I would use the TomatoTone every three weeks instead of every two weeks. It's hard to burn plants in containers or raised beds because the nutrients leach through the soil so quickly, but not impossible. Dust, do not dump large quantities of fertilizer. Good Luck and enjoy your garden. The plants already love you because you are thinking about them from the beginning.

      Yes, You NEED to use tomatotone. Blood Meal is an excellent source of nitrpogen. Bone meal is an excellent source of calcium. Tomatotone has potassium and phosphate which cause blossoming and healthy root growth.

    What about cucumbers for tomatoe tone and strawberries

    • @BarbaraMelera
      @BarbaraMelera 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tomatotone is excellent for cucumbers. I cannot speak to strawberries because we have never used it on strawberries.

  • @dawnlawson7720
    @dawnlawson7720 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I also only added 1 heaping cup of bloodmeal to my 24 sq. ft. garden.

    • @harvestinghistoryllc3161
      @harvestinghistoryllc3161  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dawn, the blood meal is a quick, nutritious way to increase available nitrogen in your soil. It lasts for 4-6 weeks. Tomatotone has some nitrogen, but you are using it to increase phosphorus and potassium which enable root growth and blossom production. Make sure you water heavily before adding the Tomatotone. This will drive the blood meal deeper into your beds and decrease the chances for chemical burn.
