Nobody can write, arrange, compose, produce, play the number of instruments at the level Prince played at, sing, choreograph, etc. He was one of a kind.

i'd disagree. maybe in today's world of music it in fact is a unique feature, but Prince wasn't a unicorn. what about Isaac Hayes, Barry White or Quincy Jones? or even Lenny Kravitz, Mark Ronson... and i mentioned only those who came up to me at this moment

    • @NonProphet500
      @NonProphet500 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@listfa Prince isn't the only multi-instrumentalist but none of those others are at the level of proficiency that Prince is as multi instrumentalists. The only one that would be in that conversation would be Stevie Wonder. Certainly Isaac, Barry or Quincy were not at Prince level as singular performers. Prince was also responsible for a sound in the 80's in the same manner that Motown was in the 60's. No disrespect to any of those giants but as a singular talent, Prince was unmatched.

MJ , Madonna , and Bruce Springsteen were at the top of their game in the eighties and all three had the best songwriters , producers , arrangers , and studio musicians ... Prince was one individual , operating alone and competing with them on the highest level.

I love how with each Prince performance you notice something new that those of us who have enjoyed him for 40+ years have learned. Yes, he was unapologetic about his art, and he thought of every detail. The outfit matching the lights was definitely intentional (as you noticed). You can buy the static globe light. I think they are called plasma balls or globes. As always, a great Prince reaction 💜💜💜

1958 was a vintage year, the stars were aligned. Prince (Jun), Madonna (Aug) and Michael (Aug) all hail from the mid-west and were born a few months apart. Kate Bush was born Jul '58 in the UK. If you don't know her, Kate is one of the most unique artists ever whose influence is felt to this day. As a woman in total control of her art, she has many firsts in her career and was a huge star everywhere but the U.S. (go figure).

There are so many layers to Prince it's crazy. There is something so unique that he does that I've never ever seen other performers do. Anyone who had been to more than one Prince concert can admit to this. He does not do the same show twice. What I mean is if you go to this geniuses concerts back to back. Each show will have something different and different songs from the previous night. He also does encores 2 or 3 after playing and singing and dancing for over 2 hours. I've been to other performers shows back to back and they do the same songs in the exact same order each night. Not Prince. Do you realized how difficult that must be to change up songs and their order each and every night. In an interview with his band members they said that you better be on your toes working with Prince. He will change a song at the drop of
a hat at the last minute. Remarkable human being!!!!!!

Later in his career, when he was asked about his earlier explicit songs, he said that when you're 20 you push the limits, and he had gone there. But he said he had matured, and his music had matured along with him. He never apologized or disavowed his early work, in fact he continued to perform some of those songs, with more cleaned up lyrics. I admire him for not rejecting those songs. That era was part of who he was at the time, and he had grown over the years, like we all do.

Dope reaction. I was cracking up on your comments. Brooks said "a sweet sticky thang"
U peeped the outfit. One rehearsal he saw the flashing lights and said "add that to my outfit" U can get the ball w the electricity going through it at Spencer on the mall. Also during rehearsal when he slid in between cat s legs and grabbed her skirt, somehow she twisted her ankle and tore some ligaments. This is from "sign I the times movie" which you d enjoy.right after this song is "now s the time" which features a Sheila e drum solo. If u watch the movie and lovesexy 88 germany show on you tube, same band, you will see two high energy shows w him playing multiple genres. "Now s the time" w Sheila s drum solo is on you tube too. It's a sped up busy song originally done by Charlie parker.

The lyrics from “Sweet sticky thing” may help in your understanding the nomenclature of the era..
    Here’s the opening lines
“You just go from man to man
I just don't seem to understand
Why you're so very hard to take
    You sweet sticky thing
If I could slow you down sometime
I'd like to try and change your mind
You're really not the one to blame
    You sweet sticky thing”
The Ohio Players, and Prince are referencing a certain type of woman, on that has existed throughout time, and regardless of language being changed to lessen the blow, these (types) still exist, and will remain as long as we live and breathe, on every continent, in every village..
Women are not a monolith, there are many variations on the theme..
Big bro, and his stage bros in the scene, were not referring to an entire existence of womanhood lol… Just the individual who exhibits said traits in the Ohio Players lyrics..
I think the term used today is “THOT”… Following todays standards, the ENTIRE Ohio Players band are “SIMPS”😂😂

Hardcore Prince fan who just discovered your channel and I’m loooving watching you dig through and enjoy his work. I think you’d looove this concert jam session video that’s been popular in the Prince fan community for a while, and just perfectly displays what an expert musician and guitarist he was:

Great reaction Britt. You're awesome. I'm from Minnesota. More Prince. If you need a break from Prince, than some Bob Dylan. He's from Minnesota too. Why would you need a break from Prince?

It's a compliment. For her there're a lot of things about Prince that she's discovering for the first time.
She grew up in a MJ house and no clue how versatile Prince was.
      Overwhelming if you will.

@@brittreacts I think you will enjoy that one. Prince can be too much to handle especially in his younger years, he was the total opposite of MJ. I was a MJ fan until Prince came on the scene and seeing him in concert the 1st time in the early 80s I was hooked. His musical compositions are on another level. He wrote the most amazing Love Ballards. Start off with Adore & How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore.

Okay, enough is enough, time for another Harry Chapin song...I HIGHLY recommend the following video, just type it into youtube: "Harry Chapin: 30 THOUSAND POUNDS of BANANAS 81" this will give you the live version that includes his desire for audience participation, and the 4 alternative endings for the song which includes band participation...This video gives you the very best of Harry when he does a live concert...and yes, this is a story, i guarantee that you will not just love it, but adore it!

    Britt,
He didn't say "Sweet STINKY thing" He said "sweet STICKY thing" (which is in reference to a song by 70s funk Band The Ohio Players
