Some nice tips, stay away from the beaches since the raiders will always crash their boats onto the beaches which deals knock back to your troops. Generally try to stay at a higher elevation than your enemy until of course the houses are threatened. Archers are deadly and just probably the best out of the three. Try to utilise choke points a lot as it decreases damage received by a fair bit!
Yeah and if you have two infantry and a pikeman squad try to surround the area the raiders are landing making a triangle shape with the pikes at the top infantry at the bottom if there is time for it
Archers are also the weakest early game though
Get Sure footed then
@@mrmarmellow555 did you try it out
Also pikes by ramps leading uphill are really good, they push enemies down the hill while damaging them, useful for protecting archers on hills.
Hey Wander bit of advice. Don't have your squads right on the bank where the enemy's land. When their boats hit your soldiers it stuns them a bit. It's best to use any chokepoints available or just create your own and just let them come to you. Also when dealing with shield enemies if your pikes are free you don't need to use your shield guys except for the enemies with shields that throw axes but they come later. Pikes handle regular guys and regular shield guys fine on their own.
I absolutely adore this game, and seeing Wander try it out has gotten me to actually finishing my run from years ago. Please make this a series!!
Same i finished my game 2 years ago
Close to one year since I played and beat it. Seeing it re-surface is definitely a welcome surprise. Maybe I'll try it out again...
Land Mines are actually Top Tier, but the boats block some of the blast. Set them in paths enemies will take instead and watch the carnage.
Just dropping some tips..
1. Don't put your units on the tile where boats land. They get knocked back and gives the enemy free hit on your units. You can instead surround the tile they land on if you have enough units.
2. Treat pikes as stationary units. If they get caught by the enemy while moving or while knocked back, they are dead meat unless you can manage to retreat and have them regain their composure. Pikes are the best at choke points. Just remember not to have them stand on the choke point tile. Have them guard behind the tile and your enemy will have a hard time getting past them.
3. Archers suck at the beginning due to low accuracy. But once you get them upgraded, they can easily reduce enemy numbers before they can even land on your island. Converting the commander with knockback passive to archer was a good choice as the knockback helps in clearing boats before they land.
4. Infantry are good against ranged as they can block attacks. So if you have enemy ranged in coming, you'll want to have your infantry out front so the enemy archer targets them. Or just hide your units behind houses/terrain and rush the archers when they land.
Maybe you shoulnd't use the mines at the landing sites. The boats seem move too slowly, and the enemies don't get in range in time. Try placing them in the path an enemy will take to get to your buildings.
A few tips to remember (don't read further if you want to see for yourself): high grounds is best (but you know that already, judging from episode 2), block cliffs/access points with troops (you're gonna love pikemen), don't stay on shores where/when boats land, time your healings right (requires a bit of anticipation, which is not easy on the first playthrough), and in the long run try having super-buffed troops (I find that 2 groups of 3 is ideal, although hard to achieve). These tips will let you go a long way, but it's not enough to finish a run: you'll still have to expand your knowledge of the game to anticipate events properly and make the best decisions when the time is right. It's an awesome game (in my GOTY list ever since I first played it) and you'll enjoy it for sure! GLHF.
First time I see this specific type of game. Pretty well done job.
Not many games I've completed multiple times but this is one of them, glad to see you're trying it out!
Seeing all the little dudes running around is adorable
I’d love a series on this.
I just noticed that Steam now has a demo of this, in case anybody else who hasn't tried it wants to give it a spin.
Absolutely need more! Just picked up the game myself in the middle of watching this vid
I was waiting for Wander to play this and my patience has paid off.
Edit: yes, Oskar Stalberg made this, townscaper and another procedural planet game.
Picked this up quite recently. such a cool little game. Glad you're enjoying it too.
you have probs figured this out by now as well, but don't put your dudes right on the beach, as the boats will ram you and it's not good. You should always use the high ground to your advantage when applicable, and lead the foes into chokepoints also. I just started this game myself though as well, so not very good at it myself yet. These are tips I picked up though from other players.
Your Playing Bad North! I will certainly wait the next episode with bated breath
I am getting the most serious deja vu, i could have sworn he already played this at some point
Always wanted to see a bad north play through, I hope I can see more
Never expected people to make videos about bad north in 2022 happy to see it though and i just started watching wanderer trough rogue tower
I'm loving this. It's actually the first time I've seen this game. Now I might have to go pick it up.
Don't put any units on the landing site of the boats. The boats suddenly jump onshore and stun any unit that they hit.
Basically, pole arms beat everything except range. (And yes, I count beserkers as ranged weapons)
what a cool game! I look forward to this series, and i will most probably snatch the game at some point.
Would like to see more. Very entertaining
I'd love a series on this
I just got this game and the further you get it just gets ridiculously hard
Please play more I love this game I have been playing for years
one of the most fun games I've played
You're right the game is (at least partially) made by the same guy who also did Townscaper. he used the original algorithm to procedurally create these islands which is super fascinating and Townscaper is a continuation of that idea with non-square tiles
looks pretty cool shame you couldn't get it early but really good you got it now
28:06 you were about to win when you restarted
*DON'T put units and mines on the beach*
The block stuns your units and blocks some of the damage of the mines
(Edit: Looks like you figured out the unit part)
Oh and avoid moving units through pikes unles absolutely necessary. It screws up their formation which makes them more likely to be overrun.
you have to put the mines one space off of where the boats land not right on top
I guess I gotta subscribe again?😅
Edit: You thought about playing Tails of Iron? I'd love to watch 😁😉
I knew this art style looked super familiar.
Would love to see a Series.
People really commented advice to not stage on a beach so the boats don't knock your troops back... whilst he's streaming the game and figured out to not do that at literally 26:12
I remember wander playing this but maybe it was like this game
The way he keep puting the spearmans in front of their boat hurt me physically ahhhhh please stoppp
The only time you put you men on the beach is if they have mid to max upgrades going against small boats and there is also a flag that give the unit stun resistance so you just make them soldiers
upgrade the archers they get exponentially better and you are gonna need them
YEAH SCOTLAND!
F i n a l l y
More plz of this game
I think I’m 70%percent through the campaign. it gets hard
yeah
cool game
I am looking forward to your playthrough of pokemon legends. it looks like an amazing RPG. like monster hunter world mixed with pokemon levels of awesome
Don't let the ships hit you they will stun your guys
That's a Retromation level title that is
will you play my life as an archeologist? only 4$ on steam and looks good
Yeah the game is about 40 days per run give or take
So is it like rock paper scissors? Pike is effective against shield, shield effective against archers, archers effective against pike
And then the giant dudes come in and just wreck your stuff
should have straight up given the archers an upgrade, would've been more effective
Heya, 💚
Also get pikes ASAP
Helllo
Play bad north more
One of my favorite roguelikes shame archer are so bad though
Archers aren't bad though, they are a pretty great unit, if you get the knock back trait on them and ring of command as well then they can just sweep island by them selves or with them and another unit later in the run. I typically run with two units of archer 1 shield and 1 pike myself but to each their own
@@thewarchief2388 archers are my favorite of all the TH-cam video of bad north they really use archers however volley is amazing and can Cary the class especially with ring of command
Dude totally misused landmines, never played the game but it's obvious you need to put them at least a tile away from where the vikings land.
Your only abort 40 percent in
god i hate the reastart level mecnic
Aye some bad north, going to check the vod if its on twitch!
