Wander freaking out about the housing market when seeing a cheap house ingame is peak 21st century
in a game XD
It's Tom Nook giving out interest free housing loans with no deadline all over again.
Lol
@@sweskey when I was young and still played on the gamecube one, it did feel like there was a deadline even though there wasn't 😂
Peak Millennial. Fuck the rest of the game, THAT'S AN ACTUAL AFFORDABLE HOUSE!?
Treasure in the garden? Solid gold? Eh, neat
Decent house for $10 000 in a nice area? AAAHHHHH! What sorcery is this?!
xddddddd
Brothers of the mine rejoice!
Swing, swing, swing with me
Raise your pick and raise your voice!
Sing, sing, sing with me
Down and down into the deep
Who knows what we'll find beneath?
Diamonds, rubies, gold and more
Hidden in the mountain store
Born underground, suckled from a teat of stone
Raised in the dark, the safety of our mountain home
Skin made of iron, steel in our bones
To dig and dig makes us free
Come on brothers sing with me!
I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy, diggy hole, diggy, diggy hole
I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy, diggy hole, digging a hole
The sunlight will not reach this low
Deep, deep in the mine
Never seen the blue moon glow
Dwarves won't fly so high
Fill a glass and down some mead!
Stuff your bellies at the feast!
Stumble home and fall asleep
Dreaming in our mountain keep
Born underground, grown inside a rocky womb
The earth is our cradle; the mountain shall become our tomb
Face us on the battlefield; you will meet your doom
We do not fear what lies beneath
We can never dig too deep
I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy, diggy hole, diggy, diggy hole
I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy, diggy hole, digging a hole
I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy, diggy hole, diggy, diggy hole
I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy, diggy hole, digging a hole
Born underground, suckled from a teat of stone
Raised in the dark, the safety of our mountain home
Skin made of iron, steel in our bones
To dig and dig makes us free
Come on brothers sing with me!
Love this.
@@dodgeseriously2090 in case you didn't know, it's the lyrics to diggy diggy hole, a catchy song that now is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the week, because of this reminder
nice song tho, no complains
Diggy diggy hole
This is exactly what came to my mind as well. :D
the heralding music! the dwarven king has returned victorious!
32:46 This was actually a really clever way to warn players. Typically you'd see this sort of message pop up somewhere on the corner of your screen, and it's usually pretty easy for most players (especially content creators) to ignore.
I'm not a dwarf but I'm watching a bot dig a hole, diggy diggy hole, he's digging a hole
I'm watching someone who's digging a hole, diggy diggy hole, digging a hole.

1:06:53 the amount of times he avoided this chunk of gold was really getting to me... Thankfully other creators are covering this game cause it looks like a decent little game.
This video has almost more views than the last three Wander videos combined, in fact it has more views than any other video in the past 8 days... and it's a video about digging holes.

Oof
10,000 to buy a 3x3x6 shack would be a steal, let alone a 3 bedroom house.
Even land without a house for 10k Is a deal.
Yep, and the cost of the concrete on that lot is probably more than the $10k.
It’s a game about digging a hole in your backyard to unearth buried gold, that’s right, it’s a game about digging a hole in your backyard to unearth buried treasure
this would be an interesting opportunity to teach people about "mineral rights." Like let's say you finally get to the "treasure" and then you come back up and find out everything you dug up rightfully belongs to someone else.
Like the government...most the USA you don't own the rights to minerals on your property...
sure but who in the right mind would snitch on himself thats the type of stuff u sell without giving any infomation and if someone ask just tell em it was in the family since centuries. unless its explosives i wouldnt take that home
Autosave hurt me once.
I had a pokemon Legends Arceus playthrough where I had pretty much max everything.
My niece wanted to play it, so I saved the game manually, sold a bunch of stuff to buy supplies to make her a tonne of pokeballs, then let he have fun. Turned it off without saving when she was happy.
What I had not realised is that autosave was turned on, so despite me manually saving that got overwritten by the autosave after I sold stuff I wanted to keep to buy a bunch of the feather ball stuff so she could catch 20 teddiursas(which are not that hard to catch, but her aim was terrible).
I wound up spending more than a few hours just recovering the stuff I lost.
Autosaves overwriting manual saves is the worst.
Yeah, I think in many cases a reminder to save is far more valuable than an autosave, and I was audibly amazed at this feature. The reminder helps break whatever monotony I've subjected myself to, keeps my mind active and helps prevent me from making too many mistakes. Autosave is better for games like Dark Souls, where making mistakes and learning to live with the consequences is the point of the game.
Why for the love of arcues didn't you just make another throw away profile fam??? 😢😢😢😢
My headphones saying "battery low" while there is battery low on the screen
38:44 At this point i was thinking this is horror game that mimicking incremental games. Like, "you begin to dig a hole, but at some point notice that someone digging hole too... towards you". Also, game have "horror" tag on Steam, so maybe i can be onto something, but that's unlikely
The end of the latest trailer on Steam clearly indicates there's something else down there. Something you see the shadow of with a beastial growl.
There's a plot-twist at 100m depth, so it probably would take a few more episodes
Reminds me a bit of the excavation portions of My Time at Portia... that being said, I would probably wind up digging up my entire backyard.
Reminds me of Hydroneer
imma buy the game and I have 2 goals
1) dig up EVERYTHING
2) see what happen if i excavate around a space i.e will it fall or float in air
probably a really smart thing for studios/devs to do for their larger projects, make smaller projects focused on features of their larger projects, gives them a chance to refine these features concepts, gives them a smaller game they can sell to keep the lights on, and in the case of open world games, gives them a way to flesh the world out, minigames to play, things for newspapers and magazines within the game to talk about beyond the main story, extra content you can bundle into a special edition of the main project
like, this could absolutely be part of a special edition of solarpunk that comes with an arcade cabinet in game where you can play this game

Devs of "Ostriv" base-builder have a little side project - a puzzle-like game "City Tiles 2" where you make a city from odd-shaped city blocks.
i need to say this in minecraft you are 1.8 blocks tall and 0.6 wide, but yhea we know even the little details from it.
Still interesting game and good vid.
Yeah, which means you can fit in a 2 Block tall and 1 Block wide space. It all fits together.
@@xantishayde-walker4593 Kinda like blocks
@@Dkgow Yeah, almost exactly like blocks. Amazing, isn't it? 😆
A little bit ago, they added a crowl when you get squishes by something like a piston or a trap door, making you less than a block high.
The crouch is also a little less than 1 and a half slab high.

Nobody: "The male fantasy sickens and disgusts me!"
The Male Fantasy: Digging a massive hole in the back yard without the neighbors complaining.
Ye, making the "small scale open pit mine" feels like a fun idea. Neetly square off where each layer gonna go, digg into the constant depth, prep the second layer and repeat until hab a big hole
@@flameendcyborgguy883 You effectively described how I mine in games that allow terrain deformation.. I will sweep in like a plague of locusts and leave a crater where a mountain once stood.. We just need more games that make use of it outside of survival/crafting genre.. I loved the old Red Faction games because of GeoMod allowing me to dig holes in the map using a rocket launcher or whatever explosive so I can ambush someone from unexpected angles..
@@Masquerade404 Every few months I look for a game that would bring the spirit of Minecraft to current engine. Every few months I am disappointed. I have close to 5000 hours in Minecraft, It is amazing with so many modpacks but I would really love to see it surpassed after 15 or so years.
Seeing you digging like this, makes me wanna go back to No Man's Sky.....
I did so much mining in that game, plus digging tunnels under my base to lay wires through to keep it tidy looking above-ground.
I thought terrain edits on bases were permanent, never would've thought to dig holes to bury my wires, but that makes a fair bit of sense!
@vulpes133 You can fill holes in and reshape the land ^_^
It's a game about digging a hole. This thing is going to be everywhere. It's going to sell so well.. I'm going to buy it.
I feel like in a game like this, an autosave could soft lock you if you happen to mismanage your money.
This game looks like a mix of hydroneer with shop-keeper, you have instant upgrades, looking for resources (but those just are already in the ground, not requiring any sieving), now the question is how long it is, looking at the amount of upgrades in this verision, 1 more hour and it would be done, so price should be also adequate
I think im gonna buy the game myself, and try and excavate the ENTIRE yard, idk just seems like it would be fun
This was strangely satisfying to watch 😅 got completely distracted from working on my own game
I feel like this game needs autosaves with each recharge. Minimizes writes to disk but makes them regular enough to not be too bothered by a loss.
Hey there, love the game, looks simple and plain in a good way (typical incremental game), love the gameplay, kinda soothing, theres just one thing that is driving me mad. I NEED THE PLAYLIST. The song around 49:55, i know that song from another TH-camr, and i heard it somewhere else too, but neither Shazam, nor Google can recognise it and its driving me mad T.T
This game is so unrealistic. $10,000 for a house, couldnt even get a shed for that price in this day and age.
I'm sick and somehow this is exactly what I needed
that save game warning was neat. yeah, wonder why no rotating autosave.
In Brazil, we have houses for 20k, but the average monthly wage is $400
I cant believe I spent the last 3 hours digging a fake hole in my fake backyard!!!! I cant stop thanks a lot for that Wander!!!!
I dug a hole in my parents backyard as a kid. Where I lived, as soon as you remove the top soil, what you'll encounter is a pretty dense layer of clay and gravel. An 8 year old with a kid-size spade isn't getting anywhere. So my adventure ended after roughly one meter. This game will finally let me fulfil my childhood aspirations. Here's to hoping it doesn't like Mother Load endend back in the Adobe Flash era.
I attempted to do the same mainly due to growing up in mountains with a history of iron ore mines around our village...the problem is that roughly a foot deep there was just granite.
Our basement was cut in stone. 😂 I was usually quite a bright lad but this was a humiliating experience.
I've had my eye on this game. It's oddly satisfying. Kind of wanting a series of this. I wanf to see where it goes. And I'm eagerly awaiting Solarpunk. I can not wait for it.
Have you ever heared don't escape 4?
The game is just like what you described
It set you up in an apocalypse and knowlage of the next danger
You have a limited amount of time to explore and prepare to survive
It's such a cool game, loved it! Especially as how there were different scenarios on each playthrough and things could play out quite differently depending on how you did. All of the don't escape games are great, but 4 was the best!
I would think the "best" way down would be either be a staircase stripmine or a spiral stripmine style. So start at a corner, and slope down to next corner, then another, making the spiral smaller as you go down.
Sure, eventually you'll end up needing to use a jetpack when you get rid of the first layers to go deeper, but..
I would be tempted to strip mine the yard. Just peel it away layer by layer.
a time based autosave probably wouldnt work for this, because it looks like you can soft lock yourself if you go too deep and dont have a way out
Watching a dude dig a whole in a virtual reality.... and it is moderately interestng
That side project could be the result of a testing enviroment or prototype for the main game. Maybe they wanted to add digging (I dunno if the main game has digging) and someone made a test enviroment to see if its feaseable or not. And if, the stuff could be imported into the main game. The Graphic style looks quite similar. So i would assume its the same foundation. Or it was a prototype of an idea that simply got scrapped. And was lying around.
And sometime later they had the idea: oh, we have that little testbed still around. lets take that, spruce it up a bit, and make a little game out of it.
This game probably doesn't autosave because you could enter a bricked state with no battery and no money, and an autosave could screw you
I'm sure you figure this out later, but I'm fairly sure the dynamite didn't damage the rock because it rolled off of it and the explosion radius wasn't that big. I'm interested to find out if the rocks have any resources within them or if they are purely just obstacles. If I got this game, I would spend the whole day just mining away at the edges and then hollowing out the center, quarry style.
Wait, does the player own the mineral rights to this property?
IIRC, property rights go down to the core of the Earth.
@@alaeriia01 They can, but they don't have to. Especially in new build/master plan homes you typically don't get the mineral rights. I don't have the mineral rights in my house.
@@alaeriia01 property not minerals
they have to negotiate with you to get it but they can always just wait you out as you cant remove it
@@alaeriia01 depends on your country. in Australia mineral rights are automatically property of the Australian government. And besides that, most land owners now only own the land down to a depth of roughly 15 meters.
I would love if games that used this mesh style terrain deformation had it smooth the jagged edges as you dig. Like if you have a 5unit shovel radius if the game also checked a 7 unit space for a sharp edge to remove or smooth so you dont have those sharp ridges all over that get in the way of things like movement
Wander, you're the only person I watch digging a hole for more than one hour! 😹
Did I just spend an hour of my life watching Wander dig a hole?
Just wait till Friday when I upload part 2. Then you’ll have the opportunity to watch me dig some more!
Same 0:13
I got about the same depth until I had a hard time getting dirt out of the home. But I was never in trouble for digging the hole
Got this game and it's been so weirdly fun.
This reminds me of that lady on Tiktok who dug a tunnel under her home. I wanna see that as a game. Dig a mine under your home without the neighbors realizing.
Would love to see a full stream of this! I think theres more hidden mechanics of this game.
The streamers yearn for the mines
I wonder if the dynamite blows up the undiggable rocks? It looked liked Wonders attempt rolled away from the rock
This is the kind of game, that once I got the drill, I would make a ramp down one side from one end to the other, and then just strip mine the whole layer at a time before making another ramp and then doing it all over again until I have a spiral ramp around the edge and a completely empty middle.
This is the world I want to live in. Houses cost $10k, and you can sell every stone you find in your yard for $1 apiece.
Ah man I remember when we were kids my brother found out about the water table and we tried to dig a pool in the back yard. Didn't turn out like we hoped.
i feel like they should have added a secret achievement for digging out the entire yard to the max depth for those who want to do it lol
It will be the guy that knows how mining operations work in real life and will dig out the entire backyard without a jetpack
I just wanted to find something cool so I started digging under the kitchen window. My mom was not happy at all.
MORE PLEASE!
Maybe the real treasure was the holes we dug along the way
I would have to mine this out like a gold mine and just create a staircase on the edges of the yard in circles while excavating the entire center
this game is right up my alley, and it comes out today??? in approx 5 hours, sold. im getting it when it finally appears on steam to buy. I can see myself getting lost on this game for hours.
and the fact its the same developers as solarpunk, ive had solarpunk on my wishlist since june of 2023. cant wait for that game when it comes out.
The best way i can think of to have a neat spiraling ramp, is to dig straight down and straight out as you go down.
On the x mark dig a big circle down till your about eye level with the grass.
Once there spam dig on a singular spot to make long horizontal tunnel at grass level.
Make another overlapping tunnel to the side(right/left) and slightly below.
After 3-6 times, dig down a layer or two, below your feet, while keeping it level to the best of your abilities.
Now repeat. (Fyi, i havent played the game and dont have a good feel for the dimensions. So please tweak the steps to better suit yourself)
There's a game called "60 Seconds!" that give you a minute to prep for the bomb and get in the shelter, and then afterwards you have to survive. Not sure it's quite what you were talking about, but it came to mind.
imagine buying a nice big home for 10,000$ only to destory it's value by digging around the back yard.
Start the next one by building a ramp down around the edge of the property.
It's funny. This game has one-on-one mechanics like the flash game "Motherload", which was popular about 20 years ago. The same upgrades, the same resources, the same lamps and dynamite. Only it was more dynamic and interesting.
I was thinking the same thing! Motherlode was more fun. It had the balance just right. Kinda surprised more digging games don't try to be more like it.
All I can think about when you got the drill is, "drill baby drill" 😂
That house is 100% haunted for that price.
I won't lie, this is one game I would probably want to "100%"
Man the algorithm is crazy. Saw something that reminded me of your channel and the very next video you were in the recommend. I was one of your first subs back in the day when you were posting catacomb kids and scrap mechanic. Cool to see you're still making videos
Really should be a game about buying a house for 10k, just so everyone can experience it
Please continue this digging game . This game is how I found you. I'm new to your channel.
38:45 and at that moment this game became INCREDIBLY creepy. kinda love it, but in the way you love the thrill of spooky suspense
I know it’s not but as soon as I heard the premise I immediately thought of a guy called Colin Furze and his ongoing project to build a huge underground complex below his house. Including an interactive carport
Another weird incremental game, Tunnet
Its a weird puzzle game where you set up a small network and receive money for each correct delivery
Bro I couldn’t buy a car for less than that house. Gold buried in the garden? Dude the house is the gold
you’re actually a bit shorter than 2 blocks and quite a bit skinnier than a whole block in minecraft
lol guy in the bottom right is disturbing me xD
4:20 what are you using to get cc free music?
I'm probably never going to own a home and the faster i gave up on that dream the easier its been to wake up and go to work. 10k for a house is insane.
My grands built their home for 17k back in the fifties. They were quite upset about it even half a century later, as they only meant to spend 15k.
Games like this are perfect for an easy dopamine boost
Please finish this game!
Yeah, while watching others play this game, I was thinking when I play this game, I would do what you are doing. A nice steady incline down where you can run back up and use the jet pack as little as possible. I am about half way through your video, so don't know what you're going to do. Eventually you will need to use jet pack, so would want to upgrade it a bit. Most everyone I watched just maxed out everything. I'm looking forward to playing this game. My goal is to dig up the entire back yard where no dirt is left. LOL!
this is like that digging robot game i can't remember the name but you dig ore bring it up, sell it and upgrade your little dude, if you ran out of fuel you would die.
ah man i havent seen you in forever! good to see you doin well!
Lol, I did the same thing and dug a big hole in the back garden. Freaked my mum out when I dug out things like the metal springs in a mattress, old metal buckets and a ton of bones and a dog skull lol 😂 that skull sat in the shed for years too on a shelf lol 😂
Oh yeah. I dug a 10 feet deep hole when I was a kid. I had to stop because I hit pure clay and using the shovel was hurting my hand. It also started to collapse around the upper edge.
I tried again a few years later and had to stop because it got flooded up to my ankles. I live 13 feet above sea level.
You had a free pool then. Sweet
we need to watch more of thissss its so fun and chill!!!
The most unbelivable thing about this game is the price of the house XD
You know what i miss about being a kid? Digging holes and dens.
There's a game a lot like what you described at the end of the video called Eco Global Survival. You get (by default) 30 days to advance your technology from the "stone age" to a sorta futuristic level of tech to make lasers to shoot down a meteor that is threatening your planet. It can be played solo, but really shines as a co-op game to play on public or community servers.
