Thank you, thank you! Have just come across this thought myself. All-in-one devices are great but tend to fall short on many aspects. That gear switch at 9:45 is so spot on! I currently have a 360 laptop. Love it and serves me well but plan on upgrading to a normal laptop and a tablet (work and focus for laptop and media for the tablet). Same with my Enote. Plan on upgrading to larger screen e-ink note taking tablet and a pocketable Ereader.
Great points! My quick run-down: smart phone, old smartphone used for IG only, old iPad for ereader only, top-notch Apple laptop (and this gets renewed every ~7 years, like an itch) 🤣 Not included: headphones, backup drives, keyboards...
I have a laptop, a tablet, an e-reader, and a smart phone. Most of my work is done on the laptop. The tablet is for when I travel, and I have a blue-tooth keyboard for it. The e-reader same as you, the e-ink. The smart phone is mostly for calls and text and picture-taking, but I do have social media on there as well. Although I hand write my first drafts with fountain pen and notebook, I transcribe into Dabble which works on all of the devices except the e-reader.
Just found your channel, it’s great. I agree that there is no single mystical device.. However, after purchasing Supernote A6X2, it comes pretty close. For writing it is unmatched, being able to hyperlink to other pages or documents, use keywords for finding previous notes and headings makes it sensational for note taking. I write lots of notes daily and instead of folders of writing I can do a note several ,000 pages long and search by date and customer/ idea. From a reader perspective it is so good one the eyes it makes my Kobo look ordinary. It has Kindle and Kobo loaded and syncing.
The Supernote was my first choice but they only have the smaller tablet available now :/ I’m enjoying the Boox 10.7 but the interface is definitely less smooth than the Supernote
On a not so related (but hopefully relevant) note, what kind of keyboards do you use. Have lately been researching and am considering mechanical keyboards. Ever been down that road?
I just use a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard (membrane). Mechanical is definitely more durable but the louder, more tactile “clicky-ness” irritates me. Some people love it, so it’s definitely worth trying out
@ Thanks for replying. I tried one briefly (need to try again) and, noise apart, I suspect they might potentially be more comfortable and easy to type on. Sadly, no one seems to be discussing that. Need to go easy on the hands 😊
😂 is it because I'm old? 😂 I feel that. I've been in tech support for about 20 years and I can't live without dual monitors. I can't even search for things on my phone. I can't see this agh. I really really want a remarkable.
"Is it because I'm old? I accept that." 😁 I love your delivery, you really soften the blow, Kristin.

I like the idea of the 360 laptop, but I’m with you, separate is better

I’m so glad to hear you have backup drives! I see a disturbing number of people who just skip backups all together 😱
