I have seen WagonR in united kingdom.
Their is another identical variant of WAgon R in Britain it’s called Vauxhall AGILA. Which is little bit better than Wagon R in safety department.
Buddy I assume for the following reasons :
1. Small length
2. Roof Clearance (bole toh height)
3. Can turn easily in small spaces.
4. Better adrenaline rush compared to other cars in same price segment.
5. Better view on road because of elevated drivers seat (again height)
6. Better mileage (when petrol was cheap) (now CNG&LPG options )
7. Affordable
8. Better Boot Space (again height matters)
9. Overall Footprint
10. Better Driving Experience (again due to the height)
11. Bonnet Size ( cars like celerio have bigger bonnets that limits drivers vision and also height matters)
12. Last : Similar Features like expensive cars, good safety, etc.
I have a 15 year old wagonr, amazing car. The one that I have has a 1. 1 liter engine. Still it is running strong. We even have an ertiga but when we have to go out within the city we always prefer to take out the wagon r as it is very convenient to drive and park in crowded cities. For long distances we use ertiga.
Wagon r is a workhorse. My wagon r has now run more than 2lakh kms and it's still running. Extremely comfortable both in city and on highways. Practical. Best car in its segment. Far better than ignis or swift(base varient). And as far as I know, most of the celerio owners are not happy with their car
Before 2019, people with budget bought wagon r as it provided family package while swift was expensive.
In 2019, if I only say about my requirement than I wanted following 1. Must have 4 pot engine. 2. In rear 3 average can sit properly. 4. Should have at least 300+ L of boot space. 5. Must be from suzuki or Hyundai car. 6. Car cost less than 6.5L on road. 7. Car should be hatchback and can be use for daily city and highway trip with milage of 20+ on petrol.
Now you tell me how many cars from maruti fit in requirements. Only 1. The big new wagon r. Before launch of wagon r only baleno was choice. Now wagon r 1.2 ZXI on road 6.2L and baleno sigma on road 6.4L. A wise man will choose wagon r as it has more features and both run on same engine. Yes ride quality will be different but for a family car on budget with most feature wagor r 2019 is the choice.
Now I like to say to all who talk about build quality and tin can then plz see accidents compilation videos on TH-cam where you see car accidents from different country, all cars in accidents get crushed even most safest car as well.
Also note that strong outer body does not mean safe or Gr8 build these car will not absorb impact on accident. There is a science in these and none of you r qualified to speak it.
Not only suzuki but Toyota, Nissan, Honda and many more except tata making cars for more than 50 years so they know what they are doing.
Also you asked why wagor r is not in other countries the answer is simple.. Those countries have more better family car/wagon/or MPV options.
FYI, over period of last 20 years I have lived in 4 different countries in both hamispher and in abroad I have driven cars from few brands. I have special bond with Indian suzuki car zen where I have recently completed 1.8Lakh kms and car still rides as good as new after 16 years with milage of 22 and no issue with engine or car. Only I Change clutch at 1.78Lakh kms. And once a year service at maruti service center. So whose clutch lasted for 1.78Lakh?
All cars are good if driven and maintained well.

High seating position, good space inside including boot, fuel efficient, airy feel inside, less and easy maintenance, bigger car in lower price ... like things, I had all generation of wagon r 1999 to 2015 model, recently purchased wagon r again in 2021, 1.2vxi again with those reasons my mom and dad likes this car.
I have newly WagonR last year in June'2017, after Googling many review of all cars, I found it the the best under the 3-4 lks your price tag. Mostly preferred by Middle-Class families with a car good mileage, good boot & head room space, comfortable under Indian road, it's also called & known as "Tall Boy or Doctor's car". I traveled from Kolkata to Roing (Arunachal Pradesh) around 4300km (up/dn) with an average speed of 75KM/Hr good milage approx 19.3/lt with AC.
I've purchased it in May 2013 as my 1st car. At that time, this was the best option in class with plenty of amenities for the amount of money. I'm happy with this car. Purchasing this car today might not be the better option.

Though,a Japanese product,it is very similar to Fiat 'Panda' as a result, Fiat cannot bring Panda to India, and Suzuki cannot sell it in Australia, Europe( where Fiat sells Panda).From my personal experience,2004 Wagon R was the best.I took one in 2016 with K series engine,I am not happy with the quality of engine.Overall, EVERYWHERE, WAGON R AND FIAT PANDA, BOTH ARE SUCCESSFUL.

...ease of entry and exit as doors open 90 deg...it's easy to drive in traffic has spacious interiors. 60:40 split seat coupled with high roof makes it allrounder...can be used as mini pickup van..big amount of glass areas gives airy feel in cabin...feel of driving an SUV, good visibility....
But yes one of the most unsafe cars in terms of build and handling as well...plenty of body roll..

In Taiwan Wagon R is known as Solio and has a bigger engine I think.. Buying Wagon R today is the most foolish thing a person can do, I agree..
WAGON R ki yeh khoobi hai iske doors jo ki Indian families mein kids & women ke liye kafi user friendly hai.
In wagon R, log apne haath upar utha ke angdayi le sakte hi, it's spacious and practical, you can see full view of road.
Body roll tab hoi hi if you drive fast, and Indian City roads you can't go more than 60..
Doors open 90 degree wide.

By the way I don't have wagon R
In Maruti only WagonR & Celerio is having CNG version. This is the main reason for more demand for WagonR as celerio is little bit costly by Rs. 90000 as compared to WagonR.

Ignis bahut achchhi hai but looks me wagon R baaji mar jati hai. Mini SUV feel hai wagon r me. Utarne me baithane me SUV se bhi jyada comfortable hai. But stability to bilkul bhi nahi hai. Speed me ghuma do to ulatne ko ready rahti hai.

reliability in Indian passenger. Mostly family people wants spacious and small car with low maintenance. That's why Indian passenger go for it. Elder, kids all can in and out easily from this car. Decent boot space which can carry more luggage then its competitor cars. you say safety but only those people purchase this car who do not want to run car in high speed. So they do not end up in big collision. Ignis is good car, lot of people reject it due to its rear look, it provide all facility like wagon R but its bootspace is not good and its look is funky from front so the old people do not like its looks.
