    I own 3 models of the O5 CB&Q Locomotives...2 in HO scale and one in "O" gauge. I love them.

    I got my high school senior pictures taken by 5629! It was my dream ever since freshman year!!

    What a crying shame her sister CB&Q 5632 was torched in the early 70's as well the other Jensen locomotive GTW 5629 in the late 80's. Hopefully GTW 5632 will be saved from the elements someday soon before it's too late.

      It's also a very strange coincidence that the two locomotives from each railway carry the exact same numbers (5629 and 5632), except their outcomes were very different. GTW 5629 was scrapped, whereas CB&Q 5629 was preserved. On the other hand, GTW 5632 was preserved, whereas CB&Q 5632 was scrapped.

      @@AnimalsVehiclesAndMore And two were owned by the same man.

      @@Steamer96 Yeah, I know. GTW 5629 and CB&Q 5632 were owned by Richard "Dick" Jensen. He initially loved them and cared for them, which showed when CB&Q 5632 was illegally sold and scrapped right under Jensen's nose, and he sued the people who destroyed that locomotive, and won the case. However, after Jensen suffered a bad fall that left him in serious financial trouble, and GTW 5629 was vandalized, he became selfish and greedy, and no longer cared about GTW 5629. So, when that locomotive was scrapped, Jensen sued the people who had it scrapped, but he lost the case. That was because Jensen was responsible for GTW 5629's predicament. As a result, the railfan community hated him for the rest of his life for what he did, and he died a hated man in 1991 at the age of 60 from poor health. In a way, GTW 5629 got the last laugh.

      At least the two other Jensen engines (4963 and 4960) survived , as of right now 4960 is operational.

    Back in the 1990s, my sister and father and i visited this particular locomotive in Golden. I knew nothing about trains and engines but i was impressed and took some pictures and today shared one picture with a subreddit dedicated to trains.. asking them what it was and where it was because i couldn't remember.. well those geniuses figured it out and i was able to come here and watch this video of yours! :D

    Did you notice the Carnegie Steel rail at 2:10? I was an engineer in Chicago for the CNW/UP and while waiting for a signal at Ash St. on the CSX BOCT I got down from the cab and was wondering around and saw some very old, stubby rail that led to what once was a spur leading to who knows what that long disappeared and the name on the side of that rail was Carnegie! I think Carnegie sold out to JP Morgan Morgan formed US Steel way back in 1902 if my memory serves me so that rail was, at that time, about 100 years old!

    I am glad to see that CB&Q 5629 along with three other 4-8-4 type engines have been preserved for public display viewing, the Burlington rr had an interesting design construction appearance of their 4-8-4 locomotives.

    I’ll say the same thing I said 20 years ago when I first saw this locomotive. Whatever it takes, get this running again. Also fyi, if an apocalypse of any kind happens, I’ll restore 5629 and get it back on the Santa Fe MYSELF.

    I'm not American and I think it would be really nice to see it brought back to working order.
    I was in the US in May 2019 but sadly didn't get to tick off a bucket list item by witnessing 4014 in steam at Ogden.

    • @crrm
      @crrm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Currently there are no plans to restore CB&Q No. 5629 to operational status. It would be an extremely expensive restoration and we do not have track to operate the engine on-site. That said, we like to say "never say never."
