    That is the right way to prune this tree to make a beautiful canapy.

    They are hardest tree I’ve seen to kill I like them I have worms on mine from spring through end of summer our trees are large but cutting them back short makes for better leaves an easier to pick the worms for fishing we have bout 30 trees an lots little ones that just randomly grow an mow down best fishing worm ever that inhabits those trees

    Beautiful! I came across this whilst looking up tips for trimming a catalpa. Does yours flower? Mine doesn't, but I read that some do :)

      It's never flowered. I trim it to the trunk each Spring.

    I planted catalpa seed in 2004, have two trees now with flower buds blooming for the first time. I guess it's a northern catalpa. I wonder if I could shape them like your tree, they're about 8ft tall now. I don't know when is the best time to trim them.

    Cool video. How long did it take to grow it to its current caliper?

      Judging by the stump size ide say that tree was about 6 or 7 years old before it was cut or fell probably took a few seasons to grow back like this but since it has a massive root system meant to support a 25 ft tree it's able to shoot out new leafs like crazy.

    what type of catalpa tree is that? I want one for my yard. Is it the Northern or Southern Catalpa?

    • @alinaz4320
      @alinaz4320 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Eric Fajardo It's called a Globe Catalpa, a cultivar of the Souther Catalpa, although the Globe Catalpa does not grow more than 10 feet.

      Are they messy? Meaning are the leaves a big problem? Pest/insect attracted to it?
      Read so many reviews I’m not sure if the breed even falls into those complaints.

    I also have that same question what type of catalpa tree is this , I have one almost like this one ( 5 year old ) and many branches are dieing so I will like to prune it like this in hopes that it will revive .
    WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO PRUNE A TREE LIKE THIS ONE ?

    Why would anyone butcher a tree in this fashion??? It will produce weak branches and live a short, miserable life. This was from 5 years ago...I wouldn't be surprised to learn that this tree is dead by now.

      This is an extremely common pruning for this type of tree. There's many in my neighborhood which are decades old.
