I remember watching this when it was first shown on TV and I couldn't stop laughing. Barry's language, Ron trying to sound wise and Bleo turning purple was classic telly. On reflection it was funnier than This Is Spinal Tap as it was deadly serious, and everything that could have gone wrong DID go wrong. I feel sorry for Steve Bleasdale, he was undermined by Ron, and Barry Fry clearly had doubts about his ability by bringing in Ron in the first place. I don't know whose idea it was to make Big Ron: Manager, but it had disaster written all over it. Barry Fry had me in stitches with his language, and Danny Crows attack of the shits was hilarious. Sean St. Ledger clearly thought too much of himself, and Mark Arber couldn't care less about the boss's tactics. Barry is the archetypal British underdog, you can't help rooting for him against massive odds. Great TV.
Totally. He had no choice but in hindsight he would have not quit that close to a game. But still, fry picking the team meant that a manager was not required. Legally. A quagmire for both parties. As fry did, agreed a settlement that sorts it fairly for both. And fuck putting precious money in the hands of cunt lawyers
Big Ron- good motivational team talk, good tactics. Barry fry- ‘don’t forget to SHOOT, Don’t forget to TACKLE, you’ll never have a better chance of winning a game aslong as you’ve got a Hole in your Arse!!!’
It's all so stupid. Steve was Mark Wright's coach/assistant. When made manager he is not given a coach so instead of becoming the manager he runs it like a drill sergeant as he wants to show he is the manager instead of just being it. All the while he has an actual manager perched on his shoulder, whose practical role is never actually clear. Ron just says encouraging things and play 4-4-2 and his training is 'play a game of football'. What may have worked better for the football club was no tv show, no ron and just some standard support for the 'boss'. But Barry Fry is a bit of a knob so....
Steve you resigned your job in front of a camera crew. By law Barry didn’t need to give you anything. Fact the man still payed you something is why Barry is a legend of the beautiful game and an all round amazing human being.
Barry Fry I’ll be the manager for these 2 final games for my ego, but Ron will do the dads army training drills doing the week. No wonder they failed getting a play-off finish.
Bleasdale was the epitomy of everything that was wrong with British football at that point in time. Was like a daft dad at a kids game on a Sunday morning. Offered no tactical or technical insight.
I like Ron's pep talks. Positive, instructive and positive.
Not a patch on Barry fry shoot shoot shoot

Great TV.
Nice to see Kenny Charlery, had the pleasure of meeting him when he was at Maidstone. A really nice bloke and a great lad to have around your club
whatever you think of SB as a manager, his position is completely untenable once Fry starts picking the team
Totally. He had no choice but in hindsight he would have not quit that close to a game.

Obviously. The thickos on here live in another universe

You are being unfair to Ron. He did say 'Do the Thierry Henry thing' .........................to a Peterborough player!!
Best comment on here. Steve was left hung out to dry and made to be seen as a complete tit from day 1.

Google lawyer in the forum, lads!
I would argue that Beasdale had a case of Fry making his working conditions beyond difficult. Fry bringing a camera crew in and picking the team.
Thrown under the bus, imagine this happening now.Hire a manager, pick his team and do his team talk then question his body language!
Barry Fry I’ll be the manager for these 2 final games for my ego, but Ron will do the dads army training drills doing the week. No wonder they failed getting a play-off finish.
Funny wen Bleasdale left in a white van, I wouldn't employ him 2 pick dog shit up lol
Just imagine writing something so bitter about a rando you've never met. You freak 🤣
Ron and his awful predictions! You’ll win this....they didn’t. Goalie will save it anyway. He didn’t. Win this and you’ll go up. They didn’t.
Lol.
Barry Fry comes across as nice fella if a bit chaotic.
Everytime Ron predicts victory, they lose haha

Looking at Ron's CV, and then Bleo's and Iffys makes you wonder who was in the right, doesn't it?
typical scouser. it's never their fault
you should be ashamed of yourself with a comment like that. sick
Hugh Jass what’s offensive about that comment?
@@TrequartistaFM Its a remark about the Hillsborough and/or Heysel stadium disasters
@@NC-ck5oj its true though
@@NC-ck5ojdont complain about Heysel you moron
Give us a wave from the dull office Steve o
Dull or dole?
Can remember that like yesterday Ron get relegated last game of season against forest. And Luton hadn't won all season away and beat derby I think
This amateur bleasdale is a joke
UEFA pro license and an assistant manager. Not sure amateur is the right term. Shit maybe. But not amateur.
U cant polish a turn (bleasdale)
