The revenge of the sith game was a fighting game and also a hack and slash in the story mode.
It did a lot of things surprisingly well.
The boss duels are like this but the rest if game is unique!!
I actually really enjoyed this game and I learned alot of the combos. Not the best for sure but I remember loving it.
Same. I read the manual on the way home from school when I borrowed it from a friend. I think I had Luke’s chain starter up to 12 hits. It’s been over 20 years so I might be off. Boba Fett and Jodo Kast were my favorites.

Same here. Unlocking Mara Jade? Amazing. I admit it wasn't great, but the worst? Not by a long shot. I don't remember balance being a real issue.
Fully agree, I think the game worked realy good, i mean look at the first fighting games like Battle Arena Toshiden for how slow that game was, or look at the graphics from the first Tekken game. I think that Masters Of Teras Kasi is definetly one of the best fighting games that came out for the PS1 at the time.

Wait, you're telling me EACH character has their own UNIQUE combo inputs?? This is unheard of! Unthinkable! That means you'd have to....learn each individual character! Like this was some kind of FIGHTING GAME!!!!
I think he was referring to the length and clunkiness of the input. It's been a long time since I played this but I had other fighting games at the time and in something like Street Fighter you'd put in like 3-7 prompts to perform a combo while in this game you could have upwards of twenty and even if you got them right it sometimes didn't work. So each character has 8-10 20 button combos and it gets a bit ridiculous.
@@Goldenkitten1 not realy, combinations like the Hadoken from Ryu in street fighter was working with Han Solo to shoot his blaster and so on, its just irrational to expect a combo by just mashing one button. Seem more the the review is more meant as a joke i gues.
If i remember right the 8-10 button combos was avaible only for Luke and Dark vader, they had a devasting attack when they trow the Light saber and it slashes you like 12 times or so.

The Dark Forces games ended up being very successful, dude. They may have been DOOM "knock-offs" but they were extremely popular, and they introduced the character of Kyle Katarn, who became one of the most popular Star Wars characters of all time.

It's obviously the best star wars game. Getting to play as both Hoar and Thok? Surely nothing could hope to be better.
I liked this game a lot back in the day , I got real good at it . If beat it with Luke , you open Darth Vader as a playable character . He was bad ass. It’s easy to make fun of it now , but it was fun back then .
The game was actually kinda good, .....until....you started fighting hoar, the cheap bastard. Also, worst star wars game i've played? Flight of the falcon on the GBA.

Flight of the Falcon is a dreadful game, but also the only game where I was better than my friend who actually owned it.
By which I mean, I beat some of the levels. My friend couldn’t even get past the first one.
This was the first game that my brother and I bought for PlayStation and we loved it lol. It’s honestly not THAT bad, I never understood why the hate was so strong for it 🤷🏻♀️

I also very liked the game, Arden Lyn was also a great haracter, i realy liked the concepf of a fighting style that was used the Force before the Light Sabers was invented, if i remember right the game mentionet that she was hundreds of years old
i mean... i loved the game back when it came out. i unlocked all the characters and had a great time as a kid. My dad bought it for me(and him) a week after it came out.
I don't think a lot of people understand that this was the only way to lightsaber dual, fighting game style, in a Star Wars game, EVER up to that point. That alone made it great!

Well... This was easier to play than Tekken 1 and 2 which are of course legendary games... I think he ( *Bombastic* ) is forgetting just how blocky and slow those fighters were too. The combos for Tekken characters were also very specific buttons, and you needed to press them with just the right timing too... so I don't know what he's really whinging about, pretending that Tekken 1 and 2 are a massive cut above Masters of Teras Kasi...

@@vergl569 Yeah I can't remember where I first learned that though, I think it was in a PlayStation magazine from the late 90's. Obviously a nod to Tekken. I think the translation can be either "iron fist" or "iron hand".

This game was not half bad. At least I remember it being fun to play, back in the day. It was certainly no MK or Marvel vs Capcom but enough to keep me entertained for a couple of hours.
Remember playing this on a CRT set and the interference with the tube and the speaker gave us all the worse headaches, that we broke the disk, then realized it was a rental from Blockbuster.🤣
It's insanely adorable listening to you describe how you think fighting games work or should work lmao no game in the past would allow you to do combos by just mashing X or square, games these days usually come with an "auto combo" option of sorts so that people who don't necessarily know what's going on can jump in and hit buttons tho. This game is bad though it's hard to be even decent at it because of the clunk. I've wondered for ahwile if modded versions exist where fans turned it into a sick ass fighter.

Hey Bombastic you should try Ravenfield again it’s been a year since you have made a vid about it. There is a lot more content including the siege of Mandalore map plus you can command troops with the G button stuff like telling them to follow you and to get in a ship with or to take a flag point. I would really like you to see it again it’s everything like the original battlefront 1.

I can't lie. I did play it as a kid and I liked it. I didn't master a single combo but It was still fun to play as the characters in the game. It was simpler times. I'm popping it in today. That's right. Still got it.

I always thought Han Solo and Stormtrooper were the most overpowered. That desperado draw killed everyone.
If you learn the moveset it's actually a really fun game. Had this one on when I was a kid and loved playing as Mara Jade.
Another fun fact: Mara Jade & Slave Leia are unlockable characters.

I remember this very well, sitting on the shelf of the rental store as a kid. A Star Wars fighting game? With lightsabers? Let me go online and check some rev...oh wait, it's 1997.
So I did what I did with many games back then. Took a chance and rented it. It was disappointing, but there was some fun to be had, even if it wasn't a very good game.

What's sad is there were apparently secret characters to unlock if you beat the hame on hard or Jedi mode. I wonder if anyone ever unlocked them?

Pretty sure you're being ironic, but you're wrong, there are far worse Star wars games out there, for example the racer when you're basically bobblehead versions of the characters, or the broken wii saber combat game. This is not a bad game it was at least fun to play.

I REMEMBER THIS GAME. Never played the whole version, but this was one of the playable demos that was on the sample discs that used to come with the consoles. The other playable games on that disk were Crash Badicoot 2 and Tomb Raider

There you will get a fight mode as a lil extra.
You can even play it as 2 player local
I am a video game collector / hoarder... This Star Wars game was the ONLY game I've ever sold...and I did trade in just to get rid of it that fast...so I accepted losing money.

I had a Shrek fighting game on Gameboy colour. It also had unique combos for each character which were impossible to identify because even the instruction manual wouldn’t tell you. I beat the game using just basic attacks whilst the AI was throwing ranged attacks at me. I mean gingerbread man would just stand there and throw gumdrop buttons at you!

I played this round a friend's house once and remember the lightsaber characters being obnoxiously op compared to the blaster / fist characters. Hated it.
Interesting thing is they included Teras Kasi fighting style in Solo. That is now a Canon thing. Qira knows it.
As a lifelong Star Wars fan and video game enthusiast, I knew about this game when it came out. I never played it because I didn't have a Playstation for a LONG time, but the reviews made me not want to break the doors down on my local Best Buy to get it. Anyway, when I was watching Solo with my brother and cousin, I full-on belly laughed at the reference to this game, which drew reactions of puzzlement from my watching companions. I had to explain it to them later. That reference was one of my favorite parts of Solo.

Yeah, this game was mostly rubbish, right up until you were Luke fighting Vader in the Carbonite Chamber, and Vader was just battering your defences while you were backpedalling while blocking furiously and just trying not to die, and then suddenly you were right in the middle of Empire Strikes Back.

It wasn’t so bad. Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat were at the height of their popularity. This game could have been much better, but they did what they could with the PS-1. Darth Vader could be unlocked with a code, but he was a “skin” of Luke and played identically. At the time, a mediocre Star Wars-themed fighting game was better than nothing. I’d love to see a modern”official” update, with much better controls, and more characters. Imagine Fennec, Mando, and Grogu! Cobb Vanth. Cad Bane. Zeb. Sabine Wren. Rex. Hondo. Chopper!!!! Imagine Vader wiping up the floor with you (he HAS no health bar…………)

I am not ashamed to say that this was the first game I legitimately broke because it was so bad and I sucked at it lol. I didn't mind it at first, I was only 15. But the raging teenager inside me eventually won out and I just couldn't take it anymore. I mean, I get it, it was LucasArts first attempt on the PS1, but still...it was horrific.

My pastor had this game years ago so I bought it for myself years ago KNOWING it's bad. More for just the nostalgia and fun of it being bad. I buy bad games for MST:3K reasons.
