Yamaha 62 wins for me. Just has that little bit of sparkle as the cherry on the cake.

They all sound good but the Rampone & Cazanni just makes you want to cry it's so beautiful sounding

Rampone & Cazanni makes the best sounding saxophones. Round ,Full,Lush and Compact sound. It can also deliver great power when needed.

Rampone & Cazzani R1 Jazz is still not quite suitable for Latin American jazz. Latin American jazz is light, more delicate and more discrete from the north American Jazz. They are very different. To play samba, Yamaha 62 actually sounded the best because it delivers the lightest and brightest sound.

He plays R1, but this is not the "Jazz" version.

A very nice comparison. Great playing too. Thanks! I only wish you had played one of the a Yamaha customs instead of the 62, since they are what actually compete with the R1 and Shadow, price-wise.

For this song "Desafinado", which was originally played by Stan Getz on "Jazz Samba" album, using very soft and velvety saxophone voice, your Yamaha 62 suits the best. Keilwerth Shadow and Rampone & Cazzani are bottom heavy saxophones, too heavy for Latin American jazz samba. So on Keilwerth Shadow and R&C, you must completely change: 1. the mouthpiece, 2. reed and 3. playing approach.

Yamaha yas82z custom, could compete, at the level of those other horns.

rampone is the best! ok but why do you put a picture of Charlie Parker when it should be a picture of Coltrane of Roland Kirk or any other tenor saxophonist

Have been playing a YTS 61 since 74 and with my Brilhart Levelair Metal mouthpiece, a 6 by the way, I have no problem with making it sound sultry and smooth and sassy! But am also looking to potentially retire that old beauty and will either step up to a Black Lacquer 82Z or go with a Rampone and Cazzani Two Voices Tenor Sax to replace it!
The sultriness and smoothness that is produced is more dependent upon the person playing the sax, not the sax itself!! I use Metal mouthpieces for the clarity and brilliance of the sound produced, rather than sounding like your playing a sax full of mud! No real clarity and everything is muddled! And I play a Plasticover 3.5 reed on my tenor, Alto, Soprano and Bari! And Metal mouthpiece on them all!!
