Love DayZ. Got tired of PvP. Got my own sever for PvE. Paying $13 a month is getting annoying. Got this game yesterday and did the tutorial. Looking forward to playing!
Man I’ve been loving this game so far. I do wish they had more graphics options though. It’s crazy how many guns there are too. You’re always finding new and possibly better guns. Most zombie survival games make them much harder to find. I’d also love more quality of life features, as the UI is a little bit jank.
Yeah, I was surprised myself how many hours I sunk into this little game. Being an EA title, there is surely some room for improvements on various features, but overall it is a highly enjoyable experience already.
Great game got about 40 hours in. I will say one only gripe is it feels sometimes like if you try to actually fight the zeds the will just swarm you. I still dont feel like its possible to fight a boss zombie withouth cheesing it because Its a bit too easy to cheese. climbing on a tall vehichle and just go loud brings the zeds and you just stand there and shoot them. Also once you get the katana you can literally kill the zeds through doors because they cant open em. The only real danger at that point are the poppers that explode and give you health and rad damage. Not that I want to do that but feels like anytime i try to play "real" i just get insta swarmed cant runaway and dead. (edit- I got my oil rig outfit though :P)
I still have to raid that damn oil rig. At around 40h playtime I tuned up the difficulty and made loot really scarce + doing permadeath runs...that kept things spicy.
You can scale zombie damage, amount and health ton anything you like and make loot extremely rare...so that´s an easy fix. After I spent 80h with the game and learned all the ropes, I do permadeath runs on nightmare difficulty - I´m pretty sure that fixes the "lack of danger" :-D
Go to settings, under gameplay enable the debug menu. Then go to the controls tab and at the bottom you'll have to set a key binding for it. I just went with P
Zombies at the gun stores or at military locations often drop significant more ammo (depending on your difficulty settings for loot availability). All raid locations have ammo crates / military lockers with high chances for guns and ammo. You should also loot a fair amount of crafting materials (again, depending on your settings) to craft ammo for yourself.
It kinda makes sense here, because the map is big, but not massive. So you would run out of resources very quickly. But you can downgrade the loot availability for each sub-category like crafting materials, guns, etc. in the settings to your liking. Making loot more scarce compensates the loot reset. There is also an option to turn loot generation after reload off, with the option to set a "respawn" timer to your liking. So plenty of options available.

This game is a hidden gem, highly recommended to anyone who likes zombie survival games.

There's dozens of firearms, and dozens of melee weapons.

The game is cool looking but there is a serious lack of danger. Zombies are not threatening and it’s easy to find high tier loot and food.

Are there any tips for the lag spikes I keep getting? I have a RX 6650xt and a Ryzen 9 5900x.
I never encountered those to be honest, maybe play around with the settings a bit. I also have an AMD GPU of the same generation.

The fact that the world resets completely upon reload is kinda keeping me away from the game
