Your boy Van Dijk which many refer to as the greatest EPL defender ever has had 4 good seasons since 2018.
Modric has had 12 amazing seasons and has been a starter for club and country since 2006. Give him a break obviously as a older shower player and with very bad teammates in this current real madrid side he looks worse

Saw him at Wembley for the first time back in 2007. England v Croatia euro 2008 qualifier. He bossed the midfield that night over prime gerrard and lampard. He just never lost the ball or misplaced a pass. Class.

He was one of those who was always best on the field no matter who he played against and for wich team he played. His team always dominated. He played for dinamo zagreb when werder was germans champions. He dominated amazingly.
His debut for Croatia was against Argentina. It was 2006. Croatia won 3-2 he was best player with Messi. They stoled the show. It was theyr private game. He was leader from day one everywhere. Exepct first season for Real Madrid.

@@eddixon2015 yes wally with a brolly if i remember.
Fun fact. Croatia didnt need that win, we alredy qualifed. And when our team got in England, they arrested on of our delegats on the airport for takeing a newspaper and going trough them and putting it back (in Croatia that's normal). They called him a thief. He was vice president of our football federation.
Besides that their media shitalked days b4 the game. I remember that day. It wasnet much of a importance of that game days b4 game nothing was happening, and than BOOOM after the news about our vice president was arrested everyone was mad and heated. If it wasent of that we would probably lose 2-0 and good game. But this made everyone mad. Price of that silly act of unwelcome was England staying home for Euros.
And Russia played Andorra in the same time. They barely won 1-0 and qualifed as 2nd. After that they had a spontaneus gathering in Moscow in front of Croatia embassy singing songs and they lit candels in sign of graditude. They have already said goodbye to the idea of going to the euro. They were good at euros, with Arshavin best player.

      1992-2010 it was half rugby
Paul Ince and Patrick Viera would have been going AFTER Modric
Still remember those 2007 City teams of Leon Ball and Micah Richards. Red card was a rare sight. If you got sent off - you really had to go above and beyond.
I remember one game Leon Ball (LB) Man City having 5 red card challenges on Ronaldo. Only got 1 yellow

@@raylsonsilva804Honestly, and I mean Honestly without bias (and I loved that Barcelona team and watched them LIVe when they beat Mourinho’s Real 5-0)… Luka is better than Xavi, Iniesta, De Bruyne. In fact, I would say ppl should see him as second to Zizou. Why? Not only was he crucial in winning 6 UCLs, 4 La Ligas. The man lead Croatia… Croatia to the World Cup finals.. What more does he need to do? He doesn’t play for Brazil, France, Spain, England. If he did, we all know that people would elevate him to some crazy status (the same way they did Pogba now Bellingham). This is just why spanish teams always beat english teams
English teams prioritized physicality and athleticsm so much over technique that when they faced teams with decent physicality and amazing technique they couldnt keep up

I can remember seeing him play in Croatia under 17, the youth tournament. The commentator (a dutch guy) called him Balkan Cruijff and i think he was correct :)

Credit to Harry Redknapp, one thing about him is he always wanted and strived to improve his players to the best of their abilities and play entertaining attacking football even without managing the top top teams and for that I’ll always love that about him, great human being aswell 🙏🏻

Modric was playing centre mid for Spurs before that Arsenal game. Selective memory from Redknapp.

If I was a Spurs fan I would genuinely be annoyed as they had Modric and Bale, 2 genuinely elite players but just could never build around them in time and Madrid just said thank you very much

Harry makes it seems like he unearthed Bale on the wing and Modric in the middle, but anyone could see Bale shouldn't have been left back to begin with, and Modric came from playing centre mid in Croatia where he was highly rated. Good for him finally giving them the chance after not having faith in the though

Pretty sure that was part of the run that took us into the champions league... what he's not saying is that when he put Modric in midfield, Gareth Bale replaced him on the wing. He was sensational against both Arsenal and Chelsea.

It's sometimes hard to believe how Real Madrid really got eyes for player from Tottenham. I remember watching Bale & Luka Modric who was absolutely sensational for Tottenham, but don't think they would make it at the top level in Real Madrid. They became club legends and you had forgotten where they actually came from before Real Madrid.
