    My 60 years with God and centuries of church writers demonstrate that God speaks in subtle ways more than the loud voice. 'The lord was in the whisper '. Always test every word and an occasional fleece maybe okay but the reliable final confirmation is the peace. That takes experience. Remember the devil uses Scripture too. Tcramer at

    God doesn't whisper to us... Just because he did that for Elijah (a prophet) doesn't mean he'll do it for us. This is a historical narrative not prescriptive for every believer. People need to learn how to study the Bible correctly and that would save us the headache from thinking that God speaks audibly today. His whole passage about Deuteronomy was pretty ridiculous... Deuteronomy is talking about the law/the Word being near to them through the prophets... not hearing God speak audibly. Hebrews 1:1 is clear on this as well. All scripture is God breathed and profitable for teaching exhortation etc. Scripture ALONE makes us complete and thoroughly equips us for every good work. If you want to hear God speak to you out loud... Read your Bible out loud! This road that he is paving leads to mysticism and being delusional. If you believe that there is more than one way to hear from God other than scripture, then you truly do not believe the inerrancy of the Bible.

      You will discover Faith comes by hearing ( not reading ) words in any book ie hearing the word of God coming down from Heaven. That is the same way on the day of penticost when Jesus kept His Promise to His disciples and they were baptized by Holy Spirit coming down from Heaven. They then became His Apostles empowered to establish the early church.

      I'm sorry, Trevor, but there is really only one way to say this- There is an arrogant, religious spirit behind your words. It is also biblically inaccurate, which is ironic considering your chastisement of others who have not "learned to study the Bible correctly". If you were to study the bible as accurately and as thoroughly as you imply you have done or are doing, you would know that "hearing" in Romans 10:17 (one of the most ubiquitous and often quoted scriptures) is speaking of the rhema word, the SPOKEN word of God, as Gary Giff explains in his response to you. I like how Adrian Beale in "God's Prophetic Symbolism in Everyday Life" explains it:
      "The rhema word is the spoken word, or the living voice of the Spirit. The Bible says, "...faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word (rhema) of God" (Rom. 10:17). It is the rhema word and not the logos, or written word, that strengthens the heart with faith. However, the rhema word can be spoken out of the logos. When the Bible speaks of "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God," it is talking about the rhema word (Eph. 6:17). Now it is important to understand that God is able to convey the rhema word to us my means beyond those that are either written or spoken, providing direct communication to our heart rather than to our head".
      Trevor, God speaks not just through His word, but through people (pastors, children, friends, enemies, unbelievers), books, nature, even secular books and shows. God is ALWAYS speaking- in and through everything. But most do not listen or have taken the time to learn to hear and know His voice. He uses whatever it is that we are doing and listening to, we just need to learn to recognize His voice from the other voices and noise of the world. Thank God for His spoken Word because what if we were to find ourselves without a bible!!?? We would be utterly lost and on our own! I don't know about you, but I do not have a photographic memory. I know quite a bit of scripture, but certainly not enough to brag about or to get me through every facet of life because I do not have the entire Bible memorized (I would love that, though!). I love the Bible and God's written word and it is not optional, but I also I need His rhema word EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. It is His rhema word that is with me when I cannot sit and read the written word. It's with me when I'm driving, when I'm sleeping, when I am talking to someone and ministering to them, when I'm in a pickle, when I need advice on something specific, etc. Praise God for his Spirit in us and His RHEMA WORD! I truly hope and pray you come to know God this way, as He intended you to know Him. This was his intention before the fall and because of Christ, is now possible again. God bless you and I pray that the eyes of your heart will be enlightened in all things. 😊🙏🏻

      You must be aware there was no one in possession of a bible in the early church so no bible studies either. You may also ask since the printing press not invented until around 1550 AD and a small number had a copy of the scriptures did God shut all out of Heaven during this time period because the people did not have a book to read? I think not at all ! The most powerful church in history was the early first century and none had what we know today as a ( bible). Those who are born of God,s Spirit are the children of God , and are also led that Spirit too!

      I heard he was responsible for a ( revival) in western canada in thd 70,s . But first i never heard that such a thing ever happened. If it did there would have been evidence that it occurred. There was no evidence that it did. In early 2000,s henry visited the people,s church in toronto at what had always been known as the toronto life spiritual convention and is no more now. When i walked in late the musical rock singers posing as ( gospal singers) were just finishing and i rebuked them when it was quiet. Two ushers physically came on me and i told them that i,m going to sit in this certain seat and the Spirit of God held them back and i went to sit. Henry then came on the platform and began to speak and within 2 minutes i knew the Holy Spirit not abiding in him rebuked him openly before a packed house more than a thousand and said publickly i,m leaving and not will listen to a dead soul speak. I was threatened on my way out of the building too.

    Love Mr Blackaby, and he has helped my understanding about my walk with God. However, he believes in Once Saved Always Saved. The Bible does not teach that. You have to change the literal words of the Word to come to that conclusion, which he absolutely did in the passage of Deuteronomy. (About 36:35 in the video). The Bible clearly says that if our hearts were to turn away, we will perish.

    His proof text do not illustrate his points. It is not possible to learn to hear the voice of God. If God talks to you it will be impossible to ignore, it will be clear, and it will be unforgettable. God Speaks primarily through the Bible. Learn the Bible and learn what God expects of you. God can intervene in your life any time He wants to in any way he chooses but the Bible does not teach we can learn to hear the voice of God. We can pray for and get wisdom and this accounts for good decisions people make. It is still God but in an indirect way. People are lazy and would rather follow nudges than read their Bible. God Bless your heart Blackaby but your are wrong in what you teach. This teaching was not around 150-200 years ago. Only a 21 century culture would want an "experience" rather than know their Bible.

    • @collinkincaid
      @collinkincaid 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think you are taking some things out of context. Have you read "Experiencing God"? You stated "If God talks to you it will be impossible to ignore...clear... and unforgettable." Dr. Blackaby says the same thing about characters in the Bible "When God spoke, they knew it was God." One of the seven realities he presents is "God speaks by the Holy Spirit through the Bible, prayer, circumstances, and the church to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways," John 15:5- "I am the vine and you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing." The "experience" is with the Almighty God. Why else did Jesus come? He came to restore the relationship because we are unable to do that on our own. "Knowing your Bible" is not enough. Did Paul know his scripture? Could he not boast of his self-righteousness? Yet, when he experienced Christ on the road to Damascus, he counted it all as loss because of that encounter. Also, I think I know what you are trying to say when you say "Only a 21 century culture would want an 'experience' rather than know their Bible." It's not an experience like you 'experience' a thrill ride. Some people get caught up in the emotions of services or anything that takes the focus off of Christ. The experience Dr. Blackaby refers to is, after the first six realities of experiencing God, that "You come to know God by experience as you obey Him, and He accomplishes His work through you." Pray and read through "Experiencing God" and I think you'll find many timeless truths.

    • @JustLearning
      @JustLearning 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I read his book and he used scripture improperly. His book shows his lack of Biblical understanding and poor theology. I am sure Blackaby is a nice guy but he does not really know scriptures. He takes an idea and then tries to find text to support it. No one prior to about 100 to 150 years ago back to the time of Jesus taught what he says because it was not found in the Bible. Blackaby's ideas are not taught, modeled, or spoken about in the Bible the way he teaches it. Anyone with a good knowledge of the Bible reading Experiencing God will easily see how fraught with holes is the book and his ideas. Only a church culture sipping the wine of this world would countenance Blackaby's ideas. We are not taught that each of us can expect Special Revelation from God all the time. We are a church in search of an experience and not in search of truth as found in the Bible.

      Antonio, thanks for taking the time to respond. I still think you are misunderstanding the points. I would first ask, How do you define "Experience"? Your reply to my original comment was largely a restatement of your original comment. What specific points show a lack of Biblical knowledge? What holes do you find? What teachings aren't lining up with the Bible? I'm trying to understand how you are supporting your reasoning. None of it lines up with my experience.
      Nothing has inspired study my Bible more than after I went through Experiencing God. Everything in the course points me to God and the Bible.
